I would imagine if a police dog causes harm that isn't related to the duty he's performing, it should be considered perfectly fine for the person to defend him/herself in any way possible. Different jobs. With the drug dogs, it's their job to indicate the presence of drugs or other substances. I've never heard of any drug dog biting anyone.
