Apartment Life #373

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 26 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 26 years here in a weekly blog post.

On Monday while I was out walking Falcor first thing in the morning I saw a lady that used to be homeless in the neighborhood that goes by "Chocolate" slap david (Chicken Wing) across the face. He lives in our pool courtyard. He turned to leave and walked into the alley across the street and I heard her screaming at him. As they came back onto the street I was on, Chocolate saw some of the other homeless people and started screaming for someone to call the police that he robbed her and took her money. But by that time Chicken Wing was standing with Long haired guy, dreads, creepy guy and crazy guy. So I'm not sure who she was talking about but most likely it was chicken wing since she slapped him across the face. The guys started walking into our alley and she followed them screaming to call the police that he stole her money. She has a phone, she could have called the police but she didn't.

The very next morning, I found out that Chocolate had died from a drug overdose. My daughter talked to Chocolate's sister who lives in my courtyard and they think it was foul play because she had gotten her life together recently. She had a house, was seeing a probation officer, and was wearing an ankle monitor. She was being drug tested so she wasn't doing drugs.  I talked to several homeless people in the neighborhood and they said she was found in her home with 2 drug needles in her arm. Her sister confirmed that and that the police think someone did this to her deliberately. I talked to Chocolate's mom (Who used to be my neighbor) and she thinks someone killed her deliberately too. I seriously doubt she did that to herself. The coroner is doing an autopsy and they are doing a drug analysis. I'm just guessing but I bet it was Fentanyl.

If you've been reading my weekly posts for a while you know I told you that several homeless people have died from drug overdoses in my neighborhood in this post

Monday afternoon screamer lady was out walking up and down the sidewalk in front of my apartment building with a cart. As I've told you before, she is not homeless, she just has a lot of mental problems. She walks up and down the street just screaming nonsense. She was here 26 years ago when we first moved here but back then she was the neighborhood prostitute. She propositioned Ken multiple times and she was mad that he kept turning her down. lol

Mostly everyone just ignores her and lets her do her screaming. But Monday night at 9PM I had gone to bed early and all of the sudden this woman was standing right in front of my bedroom window screaming. When I say right in front of my bedroom window, I mean she was about a foot away from my window, facing my window. Why the hell are you screaming into my bedroom window, lady? She woke Falcor and me up and I was pissed. So I threw open my bedroom window and yelled at her to go somewhere else. I shut the window and thought that was the end of it.

Nope. She moved to the street and screamed some more. So I opened the bedroom window again and screamed back at her. I said, "Shut the f*ck up, people are trying to sleep. Don't make me come out there. I can scream too."

She screamed once more and moved on. But by that time I was too riled up to go back to sleep. I opened my bedroom door to tell my daughter I was fine and she was laughing because I don't get mad too often. Yeah, don't wake me up and I won't get mad.
----

This was spray painted on the other side my my alleys wall. So I Googled WSL 13 and found this means West Side Locos- A street gang from California- it's gang graffiti. That's my apartment complex behind the wall this is painted on. Isn't that wonderful? I know there are gangs in the area because I see graffiti all over the place. It gets painted over all the time but I got a picture before maintenance painted over it this time.
---
Last week I told you my locks got changed because the office didn't have a key. This week everyone had notices on their doors that on Thursday Maintenance and the manager would be coming through to check and make sure they had keys to everyone's door. But why did they put the notice on my door too? They just changed the locks. Idiots. It was the same maintenance guy who changed my locks who was putting out notices. So he knew.

And then the next day, Thursday when they were supposed to show up for the lock inspection..they never showed up. lol But on Friday they were walking around knocking on certain doors. They never knocked on mine (Why did I get a notice?) 9 Times out of 10 they never show up for whatever 'inspections' they are doing on the day they say they are going to do it.

Since it's not the first time that has happened, it didn't even surprise me. This happens almost every single time they say they are going to come and inspect something. The AC inspection came 2 months after they sent me an email that they were doing it that week.

The high this week was 108F/42C
The low this week was 80F/26C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. Hello

Wow, this week’s Apartment Hell Life was intense! From Chocolate’s tragic and suspicious passing to Screamer Lady yelling outside your window, it’s like a drama series playing out live. I can’t believe the chaos you witness on a regular basis plus the gang graffiti and useless maintenance checks? Wild.

Honestly, you really should write a book someday.

    2. I'm her Little brother, and have been telling her she should write a book for many years!!! She has every excuse under the son, the first was many years ago "you need a publisher, I don't think anyone will read it, ain't nobody got time for that" you see it a matter of being hard headed, my brother-inlaw before he passed would tell her the samething and she would say something and he would tell her "you are on that compute all the time, you should" I hope she does some day SOON!!! 5. Wow, what a wild week in your apartment complex! From drama with Chicken Wing and Chocolate to the midnight screamer and random inspections, it’s like a reality show out there.

The gang graffiti just adds more chaos. Stay safe, and I’ll definitely be back for next week’s episode!

  7. Very sad about Chocolate. If someone did kill her, hopefully they can prove it and catch them.

  8. At 108° temperature I kind of think it sounds like people in your area have gone a little nuts. Sorry to hear the lady got killed, that is just flat out and murder. Nice that you were able to scream back at the nutcase but too bad she woke you up. You certainly live in a lively neighborhood.

  9. YES! Do it!

26 years in one apartment? You must have *stories*. A weekly blog is genius—way easier than a book, and we still get all the crazy. Can’t wait to read about the weird neighbors, sketchy maintenance, and whatever else makes your complex a nightmare.

    Start posting—I’m already hooked.

  10. What a crazy week! It's sad about Chocolate finally getting her life together and then that happening to her. I bet they never find out who did it either. And scary to have that gang around where you live. Yikes.

  14. Wow. What a story.
    I cannot believe 42C!
My Joe lived in downtown Ottawa and often walked past prostitutes to work. He would be propositioned, and he'd say, "No, thank you, but if I did, you're the one I'd choose!"
You take care. I'm glad you like my rodent stories! Winter is so long, and I love watching them.

    1. I love rodents and miss having rats as pets. But Falcor wouldn't leave them alone if I had them right now.

Yeah it's hot here, about to get hotter.

  15. That's pretty sad about Chocolate. Finally gets her life on track and then that. I wonder why she was out with all homeless/druggies that day. You'd think she'd want to stay away after getting clean.
