This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
Life Update:
My daughter had to quit her job on Wednesday. It's right next door but she was shaky, out of breath, in pain and having a hard time breathing when she walked over there to let them know she was quitting so I had to hold her arm on the walk home because she was so unsteady on her feet. There's no way she can stand for a job even for 4 hours, part time right now. The doctor is talking about putting her on oxygen anytime she has to stand up because her blood pressure gets low when she stands up.
My shoulders are much better. My knee is still quite swollen but I'm sure in time I will be back to normal. (Not that I'm normal, in any way. 🤣)
I told you a few weeks ago that we had no address or building numbers on any of the buildings. Delivery drivers couldn't find where to deliver, first responders couldn't find people who were calling for help. So I emailed the manager and told her that. They put up temporary address numbers that blew away in the wind. But last week they finally put up new building numbers and address signs.
They even put apartment numbers with the building number next to each door! This should help a lot. Let's just hope the glue they used will hold during the hot, hot Summer temps.

Tuesday evening the police were across the street, arrested a lady and put all of the stuff she had in her large purse into evidence bags.
I watched as they tested something, probably drugs and held the baggie up to her in the back of the squad car. I'm guessing she's going away for having drugs on her too. I couldn't see who it was in the back seat.

Monday night I walk out to the path with Falcor that I always do. They were by the water boxes that I told you about last week. And there's 2 people smoking drugs out of a meth pipe. I just walk by and mind my business.
Later that night I go out there again and they are still out there. They're all friendly, "how you doing tonight" I said good, how are you?
He lifts the meth pipe and says, "better now" and laughs.
You can't make this stuff up. Smh

On Wednesday a homeless lady with 2 Chihuahuas passed me on our walk. She looked at Falcor and tried to pick him up, called him Pepe. I told her not to pick my dog up and his name was Falcor.
Her: "Are you sure his name is Falcor and not Pepe. I lost my dog last week and he looks just like yours."
Me: "Yeah, I've had him for 12 years."
Her: "Are you sure you have?"
Me: "Yeah, and I have vet records to prove it."
She then tries to pet him again and he barks at her.
Me: "If he was Pepe, I think he wouldn't be trying to eat your face."
Her: "He was always like that."
She tries to pick him up again and I get closer and tell her to leave my dog alone. I pulled the leash behind me so she can't do it again and I'm standing right in her face.
Her: "If you promise to give him a good home, I'll let you have him."
Me: "Since you lost one of your dogs last week, I think you're an irresponsible pet owner and you should give me both of your other dogs. I'll give them a good home. How about that?"
Her: "You could have just said he's not Pepe. You don't have to be a Bitch about it."
Me: "I did."
Me: "I did."
She walked away.
I was getting ready to punch this woman in the face if she tried to take my dog. Don't try me. I'll put you in the trunk of a car and help the search party search for you. 🤣🤣🤪🤪

Falcor needed to go out right before midnight on Wednesday. As we were standing outside 2 police cars pulled up, parked their vehicles in the middle of the street and ran into the apartment complex across the street.
They were running from courtyard to courtyard over there looking for someone. As I was getting back to my courtyard, I saw them come back out to their cars and talk for a moment and then they ran back into the apartment complex again. They were there for a while but after about 40 minutes of not seeing anything else happening, I went back to sleep. No idea what the outcome of this was.

The high this week was 80F/26C
The low this week was 50F/10C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Never a dull moment in your area Mary. Glad you stook up to that woman who wanted your Falcor. So sorry to read not such good new regarding your daughter. Say Hi, give her my love and wish her well. I'm pleased you too are improving.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteThe nerve of that woman! You're right, she is an irresponsible pet owner.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry your daughter had to quit her job. The doctors better do something to help improve her quality of life.
Thank you, I sure hope so.
DeleteWhat a shame for your daughter. She needs some medical help, certainly. What strange people there are around - fancy trying to take Falcor from you.
ReplyDeleteThank you. She was strange, I think some mental illness the way she was talking.
DeleteGee, I'm sorry your daughter is still having such a hard time. I hope they can do something about that.
ReplyDeleteThat homeless woman doesn't know her own dog very well if she would mistake Falcor for her dog. I know some dogs look similar, but not identical, surely.
I hope they can too. I think she has some mental illness.
DeleteDefinitely weird! Hope your daughter feels better soon…
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteI think it's very rude of people to simply walk up to anyone's dog and reach out to pet them or hug them without an invitation from there human owner. And to argue about who owns sweet little Falcor was ridiculous on her part. I hope your daughter is able to go on Social Security benefits and very quickly. I'm so sorry she's had to quit her job and that she is so unwell. Take care of yourself too.
ReplyDeleteYes it is. I think she has some mental illness going on. I hope so, we'll see.
DeleteI'm glad your injuries from the fall are healing. Sorry your daughter had to quit her job because of her poor health and I hope she gets the portable oxygen unit she needs.
ReplyDeleteSo good that you told the apartment managers about the need for visible numbers to distinguish the buildings in the complex. And good that they acted on it!
And what a warrior woman you were on behalf of Falcor! You gave good sass, LOL.
The doctors are just so slow about getting anything done.
Deletelol Thanks.
At least the meth heads were friendly! That dog snatcher women was worrisome. I hope you don't cross paths with her again. I'm really sorry your daughter had to quit her job and that her health is so poor right now.
ReplyDeleteThey were friendly.
DeleteI think she has some mental illness. Thank you.
I noticed the police car in your post, ma'am. Are the police officers in your district equipped with lethal weapons? I am curious to know that.
ReplyDeleteYes they are. I think most if not all police in the US carry guns and have shotguns in their cars.
DeleteThat was quite a conversation about Pepe.
ReplyDeleteYeah, she just wasn't believing me at all.
DeleteGlad you managed to convince the woman that Falcor wasn't her dog. If she thought she could get a dog for free, she was greatly mistaken.
ReplyDeleteShe sure wasn't getting my dog.
DeleteOh, your weekly report is such fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm glad it's entertaining.
DeleteHorrible news about your daughter! That lady had a lot of nerve asking so many questions about Falcor. Glad you stood up to her.
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't think she was all there, mentally.
DeleteMary you are not well so sorry you had to deal with that woman. Prayers for your daughter that she will feel better.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I appreciate that.
DeleteSending positive thoughts to you daughter and to you too. Boy what a week you had, you should hit that lady with your stun gun!
ReplyDeleteI had it on me, if she had tried to take my dog, she would have been tazed.
DeleteI find your stories unsettling. You sure have strategies to cope. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you stood up to Pepe's mother! She has issues.
She definitely has issues. Thank you. I'm sure things around here sound crazy.
DeleteSome people just cannot take no for an answer. And then they get all huffy when you insist.
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly.
DeleteOmg! The woman trying to steal Falcor! I'd get real serious with her too if she was trying to take my pet! LMAO over putting her in the trunk and helping the search party!! Is your daughter seeing a cardiologist now? I know you said her EF was below normal. I hope she gets the help she needs and feels better! Glad to hear you're on the mend.
ReplyDeleteShe's still waiting on the referral to a cardiologist. They are taking forever to get anything done.
DeleteThat woman would have been hurt if she tried to take my dog.
now that the numbers are up you know where you live!! I keep hoping and praying your daughter gets the treatment she needs quickly!!
ReplyDeleteIf the doctors would just get it going, she would get to the specialists but they are dragging their feet.
DeleteSo sad about the daughter situation, she now needs to take it very easy day by day until she recuperates. Hope you will manage to get by somehow.
ReplyDeleteI quite like the orange elements in the new decor, gives a little life to your gray prison environment. You might start wearing orange jumpsuits around the block just for the fun of it LOL
If I had an orange jumpsuit, I might wear it around here. I'm hoping once she starts seeing the specialists, we will get better news.
DeleteI hope your daughter gets better soon. Not easy to quit a job. Glad you are better, just easy on the knees.
ReplyDeleteI find it is better to acknowledge the druggies instead of ignore them.
And that woman had a cheek!!
I'm friendly with most of the homeless people around here. Thank you, I hope so too.
DeleteI'm so sorry about your daughter. I was part of the live feed for the Lupus Foundation Summit. There is a lot of new testing and trials out right now. I wish your daughter could get on one of them. Your place always has so much action going on.
ReplyDeleteI wish she could too. Hopefully something starts helping soon.
DeleteOh you are so quick on your feet to have those comebacks for the wacky lady trying to take your dog. Hopefully you don't run into her again.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that your daughter had to quit her job. Hopefully after she recovers she'll find something more suited for her. And I'm glad you are feeling better.
This is actually the 2nd time I've had a run in with her.
DeleteYeah how could she after that
