Book Description
What happens when a bear’s fated mate is a forbidden virgin human on the run?
As the eldest shifter in my family, I should be taking care of my siblings in Fortune Falls, but instead made my home with my SpecOps Sierra pack miles away in Broken Falls, Montana. I don't know why I felt compelled to move here two years ago, but I'm waiting for the reason.
Military veteran, Sergeant at Arms, gun shop owner—I have as full of a life as a bear shifter gets without his mate. At my age, I’m worried I’ll never find her, until I see her across a parking lot and later scent her hiding in my cabin.
My mate is human, forbidden, virgin, in trouble, and has run unwittingly into my arms.
Well, sh!t. I can’t deny biology. The fates sent me a human mate, and no matter how forbidden she is, my bear’s protective instincts will do whatever it takes to make her mine.
She’s running from people who consider her their property and they mean to get her back.
They can try, but they have no idea what me and my pack will do to protect my fated mate.
No idea.
My Review
Kade is a bear shifter and chose to live outside of his family's pack when he got out of the military. Something told him to stay in Broken Falls, because maybe his fated mate would show up there. After a few years, he doesn't think she's going to show up, until one day she does while he's staking out some low life's that he and his SpecOps buddies are after.
Dinah is in trouble, on the run and in need of help. Kade is right there to make sure she's safe but he's a bear shifter and it's forbidden for a shifter to take a human mate. But his bear doesn't care, she's his mate and he'll fight his entire pack if he has to in order to keep her, if she'll have him after she finds out what he is.
Kade thinks that Dinah is married but it's not true, Jimmy and Dinah are just good friends who ran away from the cult they lived in for years. The elders of the cult were about to marry her off to some old man so she would bear the cult more babies and she didn't want that. So they ran but they ran right into the arms of human hunters who plan on setting Jimmy and Dinah loose into the woods so people who have paid money can hunt them. Who knows what the hunters will do to them once they're found.
Jimmy sends Dinah one way hoping she will make it out to safety and find help, while he goes another way hoping the hunters will follow him. Dinah finds herself in Kades cabin hoping for help and it's good that she did because Kade calls on his brothers to come help them.
I thought for sure Jimmy was toast but they find him in time and now they have to figure out who all is behind the hunt so they can get rid of them.
I really liked Kade and his SpecOps brothers. It was fun getting to know everyone while Kade and Dinah were finding out what it meant to be mates. They felt the pull towards each other very strongly, so I'm glad that she was so willing to listen to what he was when he tried to explain it to her. This was a fun shifter romance.
I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

I went through a shifter reading phase years ago and haven’t touched one since, but this one sounds good!

DeleteThings are up in the air right now.
My daughter has been back to the ER once, for the pain. She's been seeing new doctors and they're worried about her heart. Lupus is really f*cking with her right now.
I do enjoy a good shifter romance. Glad to see you liked it overall!
