There's some cursing and saying the "F" word so if that bothers you, don't watch the videos.
So as you know, I pulled a muscle and pinched a nerve in my back and had sciatica not too long ago. My doctor wouldn't give me any pain meds because the x-rays showed nothing was broken. I'm still in a bit of pain but nothing like it was a few weeks ago. I was using a crutch just to walk around the little bit that I could. My daughter has been using Cannabis edibles for the severe pain of Lupus and RA she's been in and it helped so she suggested that I try one of her edibles. So, I said, what the heck, it can't hurt. Right? Maybe it will just make me tired and help a little with the pain, and I'll be able to get a little sleep... Oh how wrong I was. My daughter can take the same amount and not feel much at all. But I've never smoked weed and never taken an edible before, so I had no idea this was too much to start out with.
My daughter has been taking the 100mg edibles and drinks. So, she gave me one of the packs of gummy candies that were 100mgs and told me to eat the whole thing. That was a mistake, I just didn't know it yet.
You might think me posting this online is a mistake, but after it happened, I find it hilarious now. Let this be a warning to anyone who's never eaten a cannabis edible, to start off with a very small dose. Whatever you do, don't ingest 100mgs your first go around.
It started off slow, 2 hours after I took the edible it got hard to read and I started feeling dizzy. A few moments later, I was questioning all my life choices that thought taking an edible would be a good idea. The room started spinning and I was grabbing the computer desk for dear life because I thought I was going to fall out of my chair...it went downhill fast from there. I was grabbing onto the desk so I wouldn't fall, getting dizzy, and my eyes wouldn't stay open. I had the craziest thought spiral, a panic attack, and dissociated so hard it felt like my body was on earth and I was traveling in tunnels in space and visiting different realities that took years and years to get back home from. It felt like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. I was so dizzy and felt so fuzzy that I wasn't able to get up out of that chair for 8 hours.
I couldn’t get the words out fast enough before they would slip away and I'd fall into the unknown dark place. I didn't like feeling like my brain was not in my control at all. It felt like I was being dragged into different portals or tunnels and I'd be gone for 80 years and then come back to my reality and I'd say, "I'm back again." I kept slipping away to a dark place, the world went black for a second because I was closing my eyes and couldn't keep them open but I didn't realize that's what was happening. I started to panic because it felt like I could only remember 3 seconds in the past and I was forgetting everything else. I was like this for 5 hours. Non-stop talking my daughter said, for 5 hours. And then I got sick and was vomiting non-stop for 3 hours. After that I was finally able to lay down in bed and sleep for a few hours.
I found these pretty funny because I'm the exact opposite of what you see in these videos. I am not an emotional person. I have a flat affect most times, I don't show a lot of emotion on my face for 99% of the time. So me jabbering away for 5 hours and being so emotional is not something that you see from me very often.
This is the edible that I ate.

Thank you for sharing your experience Ma'am. I can understand why you find it funny now, especially after recovering from the worst of the pain.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, this story is a good reminder that cannabis products can affect people very differently, especially first-time users. In Indonesia, strict laws on cannabis are intended to protect public health and young people from potential risks and misuse.
I am feeling that your honest experience also highlights the importance of proper medical guidance and starting with extreme caution when trying any substance for the first time.
Here it's legalized and any adult can go into a dispensary and buy marijuana and edibles. Yes, I should have looked into how much for a first timer to take.
DeleteThat must have been a horrific experience. I hope you're now back to your normal self!
ReplyDeleteI was back to normal the next day. Not something I will do again.
DeleteThat sounds awful. I hope you're fully back to yourself now.
ReplyDeleteThankfully I am.
DeleteThis is a valuable warning for others. Marijuana isn't for everybody. Certainly anyone trying it for the first time should start with a minimum dose.
ReplyDeleteVomiting for three hours sounds horrible. What an awful experience.
I had no idea that the dose my daughter was taking was a big dose.
DeleteIf I get older in my arthritis starts to hurt more often in a little worse, I've often wondered about using this. Actually I thank you for the introduction to it and the warning not to dive in head first with a strong dose.
ReplyDeleteA small does would probably have been fine.
DeleteOh my goodness, what an awful experience! I have friends and family who partake, but it's not a thing I enjoy. I know it's helpful for quite a few people, though. Maybe try an 8th or quarter dose?
ReplyDeleteYes, if I ever take it again it will be a smaller does. But I don't see myself doing this again.
DeleteOh no. I've never tried the edibles before. If I ever have pain I might try them, but after reading this, I'm not so sure. :) Hope you're feeling back to yourself now.
ReplyDeleteA small does would probably have been fine. I just took too much.
DeleteI watched each of those and 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. So glad daughter had presence of mind to tape them. You went several layers into what we blindly accept as reality. Now that you're back, are you having any flashbacks?
ReplyDelete🤣🤣🤣🤣 Now I understand what people are talking about when they say someone is tripping. lol
DeleteNo flashbacks. I remember most of it, it just didn't seem like it took 5 hours for it to wear off.
OMG this is too funny. Yeah you took a lot but how do you feel now? Thanks for the great show.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got a good laugh out of it. I laughed myself silly when I saw the videos. I feel better now.
DeleteYikes! That sounds super scary! I tried some edibles to help me sleep, and they had absolutely no effect at all. Hope you are totally recovered now…
ReplyDeleteMaybe you need to take a higher dose. I need a lower one. lol Yeah, I'm fine now.
DeleteSounds like a terrible and scary experience. Hopefully you feel a lot better now. Thanks for sharing, it's a learning experience for sure.
ReplyDeleteI do feel better now.
DeleteDang, that was quite the unpleasant experience but you were very brave to share it, thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteThe closest I've come to an edible was a marijuana-laced brownie back in the 1980s.
ReplyDeletelol They make all kinds of edibles now.
DeleteThis will probably help someone out there Mary. It was interesting how it affected you, but we are all so different and what might not affect one might affect another in super-drive mode. Good to know you are feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter can take the same amount and feel almost nothing.
DeleteYou gave your daughter a lot of entertainment at least for the first five hours. Posting this may have prevented others from making the same initial mistake. I've never had an edible so I am not one to give any advice . Now we all know what not to do the first time. Or maybe even the second. Will there be a second time? Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThere will not be a second time. lol Yes, my daughter was laughing a lot.
DeleteBut at least you did not feel pain in those eight hourse LOL
ReplyDeletelmao That's true.
DeleteAnd this is exactly why I'm afraid to try it. Not that I'm in pain and need it, so it's unlikely I'll ever imbibe. I don't drink for similar reasons.
ReplyDeleteI think if I had tried 10 mgs instead of 100, I might have been ok. But I'll never do this again.
DeleteGoodness! What an awful experience.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling a lot better now.
All the best Jan
Oh I definitely ma feeling better.
DeleteI spent my 40th birthday in a high coma. I was having severe pain from my autoimmune disorder and my husband thought I'd be able to go out to eat if I took a gummy for the pain as well. I have never tried thc before, but figured a small dose wouldn't hurt. Wrong. I was on the couch for hours. I could hear everything around me but I couldn't move and couldn't talk. I imagine it's what a person in a coma goes though. I hated it. Needless to say, we missed dinner. My husband felt so bad. I think it's funny now, but man I was pissed then!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Yes, it's funny now but it was terrible when it was happening.
DeleteOh! Wow. I'm sorry it was such a bad experience and didn't ultimately help with the pain. But it's a great lesson to share because so many people think weed is harmless. It really does depend on the person and the dose. Im glad you can laugh at it now.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because others on Twitter where I posted too are telling me they've had similar experiences. It does depend on the dosage and the person. I just didn't know enough.
DeleteWelcome to your first bad trip, may it be your last
ReplyDeleteOh it will be the last one.
DeleteI’ve tried little sleeping doses twice with no effect. I once tried 3 puffs of the weed and was then hazy for 3 hours. I didn’t much like it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't either. Never again.
DeleteOh my goodness, Mary that must have been frightening for you at that time. I've watched each videos. Glad you are over it now.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
I'm all better now.
DeleteI've never smoked weed or tried an edible. This sounds absolutely awful! No thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure wasn't fun at all.
DeleteSo, I guess you won't be doing that again. Sorry to hear you were ill.
