New Year's Resolutions

I don't make Resolutions anymore. I don't see the point, why set myself up for fail, right? So a few years ago I decided not to make anymore resolutions and I actually stuck with it. LOL So this year I am making some resloutions that I can actually stick to.

Eat Less Healthy- That's right, no more salad, no more tofu (Yeah like I've ever tasted that stuff!) and no more sugar free anything. If I was suppossed to be eating sugar free and taste free foods, I would have been born a rabbit!

Go Outside Less- There's no need for me to go outside anymore. With the internet I can have all my food delivered, have the paper delivered, but all my extras and personal things from Amazon and have them delivered and pay someone to bring me Pizza once a month.

Do less Laundry- I just figured if I'm not going outside, I'll never get dirty! So who needs to do laundry again, my clothes will never need washing.

Exercise Less- Of course this goes along with not going outside. So I can stay home watch tv, catch up on my movies and books and become the couch potato I was meant to be.

Become the Crazy Rat lady- I only have 4 rats right now, but I know there are dozens of rats that need homes right now. So I better tell Ken to get to building all those shelves for all those cages we are going to be needing. He may even need to find his own place beause there might not be room enough for him in bed with me and the rats.

Stalk my neighbors- I have binoculars and I know how to use them .

Spend less time on the Phone- With all the couch potatoing, movie watching, book reading and pizza eating I'll be doing, who has time to talk on the phone!

Shower Caddy

Recently we decided to fix up our bathroom, we bought paint, stickers, new shower curtain but still need to get a few things to spruce it up a bit more. We used to have a forest full of butterflies on the wall but Ken didn't like them so he painted over them the last time we changed the colors in the bathroom.

We've even bought paint for the bedroom and I have all sorts of things in my wishlist to get for the bedroom, including wall clings, a tv and tv stands. I've already bought 2 really nice throw rugs for the bedroom because they matched the dark green paint we are putting on the walls in there. But we decided to fix up the bathroom first and so I am thinking of getting a few more things to make it more comfortable. I recently came across this Zenith Corner Tub and Shower Caddy.

I am loving this and because it's white, it fits with the light green we have choosen to paint the bathroom. We already have a white, free standing cabinet and Ken is going to pain the wood cabinet that hangs on the wall in the bathroom, white as well.

So what do you guys think, pretty cute, eh?

Scizotypal Personality Disorder

I had someone on Fb ask me, "You're a little bit crazy, huh?" I kinda laughed it off but the fact is, yes I kinda am. I was diagnosed with Schizotypal Personality Disorder more than 15 years ago from a Psychiatrist who sent me to see a Psychologist. I was in therapy for years and after all that therapy for depression as well, I came to the conclusion that this is just who I am and I am fine with that. So why am I trying to change? It was everyone else to had the problem, not my problem anymore. If you don't like me, don't like the way I am...walk away..I don't care, it won't bother me in the slightest.

So what is Scizotypal Personality Disorder? Good question.

People with schizotypal personality disorder are often described as odd or eccentric, and usually have few, if any, close relationships. They generally don't understand how relationships form, leading to severe anxiety and a tendency to turn inward in social situations.

In schizotypal personality disorder, people also exhibit odd behaviors, respond inappropriately to social cues and hold peculiar beliefs.

Schizotypal personality disorder typically begins in early adulthood and is likely to endure, though symptoms may improve with age. Schizotypal Personality Disorder is a condition characterized by acute discomfort with, and reduced capacity for, close relationships as well as by cognitive or perceptual distortions and eccentricities of behavior. This disorder is only diagnosed when these behaviors become persistent and very disabling or distressing.

In response to stress, individuals with this disorder may experience very brief psychotic episodes (lasting minutes to hours). If the psychotic episode lasts longer, this disorder may actually develop into Brief Psychotic Disorder, Schizophreniform Disorder, Delusional Disorder or Schizophrenia. Individuals with this disorder are at increased risk for Major Depressive Disorder. Other Personality Disorders (especially Schizoid, Paranoid, Avoidant, and Borderline) often co-occur with this disorder.

Symptoms of Schizotypal Personality Disorder
Schizotypal personality disorder is characterized by a pattern of social and interpersonal deficits marked by acute discomfort with, and reduced capacity for, close relationships as well as by cognitive or perceptual distortions and eccentricities of behavior, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

•Ideas of reference (excluding delusions of reference)

•Odd beliefs or magical thinking that influences behavior and is inconsistent with subcultural norms (e.g., superstitiousness, belief in clairvoyance, telepathy, or "sixth sense"; in children and adolescents, bizarre fantasies or preoccupations)

•Unusual perceptual experiences, including bodily illusions

•Odd thinking and speech (e.g., vague, circumstantial, metaphorical, overelaborate, or stereotyped)

•Suspiciousness or paranoid ideation

•Inappropriate or constricted affect

•Behavior or appearance that is odd, eccentric, or peculiar

•Lack of close friends or confidants other than first-degree relatives

•Excessive social anxiety that does not diminish with familiarity and tends to be associated with paranoid fears rather than negative judgments about self

So this may answer some questions about me, eh?

A little scare

I've been trying to get a hold of my mother on the phone for the past 2 days and so when the phone rang this morning and I see on the caller ID that is was the hospital I had a bad feeling it was my mother and sure enough it was. Thankfully she is fine but she had to call an ambualnce last night because she has an asthma attack and her allergies and COPD were causing her more problems.

I hate seeing on the caller ID that it's from the local hospital, because more times than not it's my mom calling to tell me she is there. I'm glad she is getting better and that she didn't break anything this time.

Nice Day at the Buffet

Yesterday my brother and his fiance took me, ken and our daughter out to eat at the Texas Buffet in the Texas Station Casino.

They had all types of good food to pick from but I went right over to the mexican grill and got some freshly made fajitas. Omg they were so good. The funny thing was when I went up to that fry station the guy who was cooking looked at me and said Pollo or Beef? I replied, Pollo. I know a few words in spanish and Pollo is spanish for chicken and I wanted chicken fajitas. When they were just about done he looks at me and rambles off and bunch of stuff....I looked at him and said, Uh, I have no idea what you just said.

LOL

He laughed and said because I had replied Pollo that I knew spanish but he wanted to know if I wanted it mild or spicy. I said mild. But all the people around that station were laughing because of what happened and when he gave me my plate I smiled and said, Gracias, which got another round of giggles from all of them.

They did have a really good carrot cake at the dessert station though and it wasn't made with that nasty cream cheese frosting, it had a whip cream frosting which was so good...I had just a lil' piece. lol I was good.

Review of taming the Beast by Heather Grothaus

Lord Roderick Cherbon was wounded during the crusades, only living because his best friend Hugh saves him. He comes home to find his abusive father has died and is still controlling his life because he now has to marry before he turns 30 years old in order to hold on to his land and wealth.

He advertises for a wife and after several women come and go because of his dark personality and scary castle, we meet Michaela Fortune. She has always been picked on, ridiculed and talked about, but she doesn't care. She grew up being ridiculed because her mother said she was abducted during the Wild Hunt and the stories of her father run rampant. She decided to marry Lord Cherbon to save her family from financial ruin, this is her only chance to do so.

The chemistry between these two characters is explosive right from the beginning. But Michaela is a strong woman and is focused on one thing, getting Lord Cherbon to marry her.

For the most part, I liked the book but there were parts that irritated me. Trying to decipher what little three year old Leo was saying when he talked was one of them. Leo is Lord Cherbon's son, but not his blood son and when he talks it's hard to tell what he is saying.

High is one character that at first I liked him and towards the end I found his character to be strange. The twists and turns his character takes in this book takes away from the story, not adds to it.

The paranormal aspect of the story...The Wild Hunt, also was not well developed and didn't add to the story. In fact, it seemed like an after thought just to have The Wild Hunt somehow cleared up for the reader, but it didn't work for me at all.

While I love a good Paranomal story, the paranormal aspect of this book was not well fleshed out and detracted from the story as a whole.

Holiday Blues

I know I'm not the only one who gets them but I've suffered with depression my entire life. For some reason that I can't understand I get even more depressed around the Holidays. I try to get out of it by cooking, making gifts, decorating...oh boy do I decorate.

We live in a 1 bedroom apartment and I usually have three small artificial tree's up as well as all types of other decorations up. 8 boxes worth, but when I'm all done and all the decorating is up, I look at it all and feel like crying..every year. Thanksgiving is a little better because there's no sad Thanksgiving music, and I make it a point not to watch anything that will make me sad on tv.

I just can't take it. But this year I've decided to hit this depression head on, I have an appointment with my doctor next weeka nd I am going to ask him for another anti-depressant and see what he says. Because the fact is, I'm not sure I'll be able to cope this year if I don't get some help. I can already feel it coming on and I ahve a bad feeling it's going to be a bad one. I don't want that, those feelings of utter uselessness and hopelessness...so maybe the doc can help me out.

The other reason I'm going to the doctor is I've had a lump in my stomach for about 3 years that I have put off getting checked out...and now it's starting to hurt...a lot. So I'm gonna see if we can't figure out what it is, hopfully it's nothing and will go away...yeah I have a good imagination don't I? I must live in fairy tale land to think this is nothing and is going to go away without surgery or some other form of intervention. Yea, oh joy, just what I need.

Roberto's Tacos

Have you ever stopped into a new restaurant or little diner only to find it was totally awesome and couldn't believe that you hadn't been there before now?

Well, Ken and I had an experience just like that one today. We were driving down the street and saw a little sign that said, Roberto's tacos and decided it was lunch time, let's try that place. I mean they can't really f*ck up a taco, right?

We parked and went into this little place. They had pictures of all their food with the names, so pople like us who don't speak any spanish can just point to want they want on the wall. lol

I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and ken ordered a shredded beef nachos.

My burrito was so damn big, holy molly and it was jam packed with tender steak..omg so good.

Ken got home and opened what he thought was going to be a small nachos to snack on, well it turned out to be the biggest plate of food I've ever seen labeled as nachos. lol

And it was good! We even called our daughter Elizabeth to come over and share the nachos because there was so much of it and thought she would like it. Which she did. :)

So for 12.00, we had a kick ass lunch.

Extremely Happy

Stop buying things made in China

There have been so many problems with products made in China and here we go to the store and keep buying the sub-par crap that they make and send to us, but there are many other reasons not to buy the made in china crap they have on our shleves.

Child Labor as well as prison labor which these people who make these things are barley paid a thing to make these products and to use small children to make things is just wrong.

Product safety is the biggest problem we are having with products made in china at this moment. Aquadots was just one product that was made sub par and made kids sick. Do we really want to be buying things that aren't safe and have to worry about our children getting sick or dying because we saw it was cheaper on the shelf of the store and bought it instead of buying something made here in America that might have cost us a few dollars more?

The more we buy from China the more they make and the more jobs right here in america are going overseas. We need to stop complaining when lead is founf in kids toys that were made in china and jsut stop buying anything with a sticker on it that says it was made in china. There are enough things made in america or even other countries that don't use child labor and have sub par products and safety issues that we could as purchasers put a real hurt on the chinese economy if we chose to stop buying their crap.

I don't want to hear about how we could ahve done something earlier but didn't and now people are getting sick because they bought lead stuffed toys, toxic baby food, toxic pet foods, lead based paint was used on childrens toys or the toys are made in such a way they kill kids. Stop buying the stuff we know to be a safety hazard and this kind of thing won't be happeneing. We are letting it happen by buying these made in china prducts.

Real emails...

I would love to shhot the first person who sent out the 'scam' email. beacuse now when I check my mail in the morning there are at least 50 spam emails in my inbox and 75 in the spam folder. They get tossed together with real emails and then when I go a day or two without looking at my emails there are tons of spam in my inbox. It makes it hard to find the ones I'm looking for.

Which is probably why I have 6 email addresses. lol
Here are some 'real' emails I have gotten lately....I know everyone else gets them too but they can be funny.

Blog contests

I routinely visit blogs and when there's a contest for a book that I like, I'll enter. I visit so many blogs each week and enter to win a lot of books and sometimes win them. But I'm starting to see an irritating trend on some blogs, not all but some.

Instead of just saying, leave a comment and your email address for a chance to win this or that...they ask you to practically jump through hoops in order to get "More entries".

I've seen things like, asking people to follow their blog, friend them on face book, post a link on their own blog back to the contest (which I don't find so irritating), follow them on twitter, visit other blogs and do all these things for them too and let's not forget that sometimes they make you do each of these things in a seperate post! for those extra entries.

If you go to the trouble of having a contest and then ask people to follow you, like you on FB...ect...it really makes your blog look pathetic...in my opinion. If someone wants to follow you, they will. If someone wants to be your friend on FB...they will...don't make these things a requirement in order to get a book, gift card, ect. it makes you look bad.

Hell of a month

Now it's time for me to vent, because we all have to sometimes. I've had a hell of a month, I tell ya. Last month my computer started acting all crazy like and we found that our motherboard was fried and were without a computer for a while. Thanks to my daughter's boyfriend who is great with computers, he was able to fix up a tower for us with some of the parts he already had. I never would ahve been able to do what he did, I wish I knew more about computers, but I don't.

Then I accompanied my brother to the mortuary to say goodbye to his son, Franklin. Franklin's mother was 6months pregnant when she had a miscarriage. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. It still brings tears to my eyes. The mortuary does something special for babies. Instead of a regular casket, they had him wrapped in a baby blanket and placed in a small white crib. My heart broke when I saw that, I don't think that part of my heart will ever be whole again. You never get over seeing something so heart breaking.

Then right after that my brother's started arguing and are now not talking. Of course, I got pulled right into the middle of it and now things are incredibly tense.

I can only hope things get better next month.

Review: The Shadow by Shelley Munro

The Shadow by Shelley Munro
Publisher: Medallion Press
ISBN-13: 978-1932815504

The cat burgular, called The Shadow is on her way to steal jewels and all goes well the women who she was going to steal from gets shot and dies. Lady Katherine has a run in with a guy but not just any guy, a cop! Right off the bat we can see they are atttracted to one another but can a thief and a cop have a real future together?

Lady Katherine is also looking for who raped and drugged her six years before this. Her rapist might even be her daughter's father and when she stumbles upon a picture of another girl who could be the twin of her own daughter, she is one step closer to finding out who drugged and attacked her six year before. In this dual storyline of looking for a rapist and a jewelry thief we get a great story. The characters are a lot of fun to watch as they try to figure out exactly what kind of relationship they have.

I really enjoyed this story, it had everything I want when reading a suspense story. A great plot, believable characters and a heroine who has a spark to her. The end of the book was quite unexpected and I love twists like this, especially when I don't see it coming.

A well written book, and I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Shelley Munro.

Nice to have a computer that actually works!

It's so nice to be able to get online and do what I need to do. I can even watch videos and play online games again. Right now I ahve three tabs open. One in the background has Adam Lambert playing a video from Youtube and the other two have other websites I keep going back and forth too. It's ncie when this machines works and real hell when it doesn't.

Review: Assassin's Heart by Monica Burns

Assassin's Heart by Monica Burns
Book 2 in The Order of the Sicari series
Penguin/Berkley
ISBN - 978-0-425-23652-9

From the back cover..

The truth of the soul.
Lysander Condellaire never understood why he had telepathic and telekinetic powers until the night his Praetorian father tortured him and left him for dead. Now, the half-angelic, half-demonic face he sees in the mirror is a reminder of the monster he must keep hidden or face expulsion from the order of assassins know as the Sicari. But his dreams of Ancient Rome hint at a destiny he finds hard to accept, especially when it involves the woman he loves, but can never have.

The consequences of desire.
A gifted healer in the Order, Phaedra DeLuca witnessed her mother’s murder when she was just a little girl. The haunting memory makes her loathe everything Praetorian. When she travels to Rome in search of an ancient artifact, she must work alongside a man who once cruelly rejected her love and healing touch. But her dreams of Ancient Rome tell of an irreversible and possibly dangerous future. For the distant past and present are about to collide--with the one man she is destined to love.

My review...
I read a lot and read this book in one sitting! I just couldn't put it down after I started reading, I was so enthralled. The story that Ms. Burns weaves together was one of tragedy, torture, sorrow, adventure and love. Anyone who likes paranormal romance is going to love this book. I just read Assassin's Honor the day before reading this book and couldn't wait to see what Ms. Burns had in store for us.

Lysander's story is so tragic and sad it made me want to cry for all he's had to endure. He was tortured by the Praetorians and they sliced off part of his face, but later we find out he has even more to endure and it seems like it might be too much for him. He has secret's and he's sure that if anyone finds out about them they won't trust him or love him.

Phaedra is a healer for the Sicari and she's been in love with Lysander for over a year, but he's keeping her at arm's length because he doesn't trust her to love him if she ever finds out his secret. They both have to get past the hurt of the past year when they are thrown together much to the dismay of Lysander, when they go in search of The Tyet of Isis. An ancient artifact they want to get before the Praetorian's get their hands on it.

Neither Phaedra or Lysander know that the other have been having dreams of the first Sicari lord and his wife and we get pulled into another heart breaking story as their dreams get more vivid and we find out they are dreaming about their own past lives.

As well as the past life story there is a romance story from other characters in this book that comes alive in a shocking way. Atia the Prima Consul and Marcus a Sicari Lord have a secret past and Atia has been keeping a huge secret from Marcus as he is about to find out. Their history and romance that barely conceals itself under the surface is sure to explode in the coming books from Ms. Burns. I liked this second book in the Order of the Sicari series even more than the first one if that's even possible. I think this series can only get better and more exciting as time goes by and we read stories about the rest of the characters.

This story within a story could have been so confusing if a less talented author had tried to write it, but Ms. Burns is incredibly talented and has found a way to bring a whole new world to the paranormal genre that fans are going to be talking about for years.

If you liked Assassin's Honor, you'll love Assassin's Heart.

Review: Assassin's Honor by Monica Burns

Assassin's Honor By Monica Burns
Book 1 in the Sicari Series
Publisher: Berkley Trade (June 1, 2010)
ISBN-13: 978-0425234167

From the back cover..

A woman with visions of the past...

Archeologist Emma Zale sees the past when she touches ancient relics. It’s how she uncovered evidence of an ancient order of assassins—the Sicari. When a sinfully dark stranger shows up on her Chicago doorstep demanding an ancient artifact she doesn’t have, he drags her into a world where telekinesis and empaths are the norm. Now someone wants her dead, and her only hope of survival is an assassin who’s every bit as dangerous to her body as he is to her heart.

Bonded to an honorable assassin...

Ares De Luca comes from an ancient Roman bloodline of telekinetic assassins. A Sicari, he’s honor bound to kill only in the name of justice. But when the woman he loved was murdered, Ares broke the Sicari code and used his sword for revenge. Love cost him dearly once before, and he’s not willing to pay the price again. At least not until hot, sweet, delectable Emma walked into his life. Not only does she hold the key to a valuable Sicari relic, she might just hold the key to his heart.

Their dangerous passion will redeem an assassin's honor...

My review...

Emma is an archeologist and on a dig near Cairo when she once again must face a murder to someone close to her. The first murder she had to endure was that of her parents. But before her father is killed he leaves a coded message for her and she finds it right before someone tries to kill her. That's when a Sicari named Ares DeLuca tries to help her by telling her she needs to go into hiding because her life is in danger. But of course she isn't wanting to give up her whole life and Ares friends, the other Sicari are less than friendly to her when she first meets them because she is an outsider.

So many things happen while Ares is hiding her and we get to meet some of the other characters in the world of the Sicari. Including the bad guys, the Praetorians who want all the Sicari dead.
Monica Burns has made up a whole new world of hot heroes with smoldering eyes and telekenic powers. It's easy to tell that this new world took a lot of thought and time to make because it's incredibly believable. She even gives us a lesson in her own cross between a Latin and Italian language that the men seem to love to speak throughout the story. I even learned a few cuss words, even though I don't know exactly what they mean yet.

While reading this book I got a pretty good lesson in the Sicari way of doing things and their customs, while some of them may seem barbaric at first I understood why they are needed and why honor is so important to them by the end of the book.

I can't wait for more books in this series.

I'm Back!

Well, I'm finally back and this time for good...I hope. My daughter's boyfriend took parts from a couple of different computers and made me a new tower. He said my motherboard was fried and that's why my computer stopped working.

I've decided to name my new computer.....Frankenputer!

Because it's made up of parts from several different computers...get it...frankenstein...lol

See you in the ethers..

My computer is still acting up

Yeah this darn thing is still acting up, restarting on its own and crashing and sometimes not even letting me log on at all...but I'm online right now and wanted to say I'm still here! I miss talking with everyone and visiting the blogs the way I want to. Hopefully I'll figure this thing out soon.

teens and slang

Seems like teens have their own language, I like to refer to it as slanguage. Here's a few things one might hear from teens now a days.

Dope
- Means cool or awesome.

Bowen- A person who often stinks, possibly with hygene issues. Derived from a creature that is known to inhabit sewage and have a frightening odor because it uses its own feces to disguise itself.

Butt hurt- to be hypersensitive or over offended over a prank or joke. (my daughter uses this one all the time)

Hardcore - Means something is intense. Generally said about something that is a good experience, but also used when something bad is happening to a friend.

all up in my grill- the act of being in someone's face.

hella- used in conjunction with another word as an intensifier. As if to say “very.” Derived from “A hell of a lot of . . .” Examples include: hella-cool, hella-stupid, hella-crazy, or hella-funny.

bamf- Acronym for “Bad Ass Mutha F***er."

tool- someone that is a geek or nerd; one who is socialy inept and does not fit it.

idk- short for “I don’t know”

wikijism- A term to describe any journalism, reports or writing that uses Wikipedia as it's only source.

my bad- a phrase said to admit guilt in a situation.

beatin' dem cakes- having sex. "I got with Juana and was beatin’ dem cakes like Betty Crocker!"

Beware when looking for a job...

Ya know, my daughter has been looking for a job for some time now and I like to browse the internet so I was looking on craigslist and in the local paper for job offers. You know what I see most often? Ads that looks something like this....

Wanted, girls 18-24 no experience necessary, will train.

When I see ads like that I get the heebie jeebies because all I can think of it PORN. They'll call the phone number and be asked if they like to make $50 a day and when they say yes they'll give them an address to come to the next day.

I can imagine when the girls get there they are immediately trying to make their way through a crowd of crackheads and Ron Jeremy wannabe's. *shiver*

Girls stay away from ads like this, it can't be anything good. It just can't be.

Film Brawl

A friend of mine self published a book called, Film Brawl and I wanted to let you all know about it. He is the owner of Wildside Cinema http://www.wildsidecinema.com/forum/index.php and has worked really hard on this book.

"Filmbrawl is a genre cinema review guide featuring hundreds of encapsulated reviews and star ratings for those looking for a quick read on the toilet! GET IN THE RING!!"

If you like reading reviews of movies, and are looking for something a little different, this is the book to get.

Leonid Meteor Shower

I've been going out for the past few nights, hoping to see a meteor in this meteor shower and for the most part, living in a city where the lights are always on makes it difficult to see the meteors. But I have seen a few in the past few days.

Pet Peeves

I know we all have them and sometimes I think I have too many of them because at times I'm very critical of others, but maybe I'm just normal. lol

My pet peeves..

People who write in all Caps. Anyone on the internet knows that, all caps is considered to be shouting. So stop shouting.

People who spit on the side walk. I've heard guys says that hawking a loogie...yes, that's what they said, was healthy. Ok, fine, get it out...but so it in the bathroom and don't spit it on the same side walk I have to walk on. That's just gross and rude.

Talking on cell phones when you are in a public place. Yeah I know, I'm an old fogie and think cell phones are the anti-christ according to my nephew, but there's really no need for someone to talk about their rash, infection..oozing, pus-filled sores or any other thing they are at the doctors office for. I have heard people talking about STD's on the phone in the doctors waiting room. I really don't need to know. Really.

People who think they know it all! I don't just mean they think they know a few things. No, these people think they know everything! and are right about everything the talk about. Holy cow, I would love to be right all the time but that's just not going to happen. Oh and when you are proven to be wrong, take it like an adult and say, yeah ok, I was wrong.

LOL that last post made every all blue.

I don't know how I messed that last post up so bad. Now everything is blue. Oh well, at least you can see what books I plan to get.

Really embarassing...

We've all done those really embarrassing things, the things that at the time we wished we could just crawl in a hole and hide. I look back on some of those times and can laugh now, so I thought I would let you laugh along with me...lol

Some of the funny things I've done...

Years ago when we first moved into another apartment complex...I was walking back to my apartment when I decided to scare my family by quickly sticking my head in the open window and screaming. Well I got the the window and pulled back the curtains and screamed....only to see another family sitting down to dinner! I went to the wrong window! Scared them half to death...but I quickly explained to them what happened when I showed them that I lived right next door. lol

I went up to a man in the grocery store and covered his eyes from behind. I said, "Guess who." He said, "My next ex- wife?" I quickly removed my hands because I realized as soon as he spoke he was not my friend. I apologized and thankfully he just laughed and thought it was funny.

One night I was on a road here in Vegas and I've been told if you pass a cop car sitting on the road checking car's speed's...you should flash your headlights to the cars coming in the other direction to let them know about the cop car so they can slow down. Well, I flashed my lights and he flashed me back...and as he drove past me I saw him smiling.....but not for the reason I thought....he was a cop...in a cop car! Good thing he thought it was funny!

Well, there you have a few of my funny embarrassing moments.

Irritating things

There are so many things that irritate me but there are a few things that stand right out and I think they bother most people.

Liars- people who lie to me or embellish about what has happened, will happen, ect...just irritate me.

Late people who don't call- You know when you tell me that you are going to be at my house at a certain time and I expect you to be here or meet me someplace at that time...you better damn well be there, or at the very frickin least call me beforehand and let me know you aren't coming/going to be late. If I have to call you because you are an hour late and you tell me you just decided not to come and was going to call me later.....just don't be surprised when you never get invited again, ok?

Rudeness- There's no reason to be rude just for the sake of being rude. If I give you a birthday gift and you think it's lame...keep that to yourself because if you tell me that I never would have given such a gift because it looks cheap...or you won't use it can you give it to the salvation army because 'those' people would use something like that. Don't expect to ever get anything else form me, ok?

Drunks- If you want to get drunk off your butt...first off don't drive., I will tell you right now, I don't care who you are...if you drink and rive I will call the police on you and turn you in. I don't want a drunk on the streets when I am driving and don't think anyone else would either. But if you have to get falling down stupid drunk...stay home.

Don't let your kids be monsters in public- I was in the grocery store a few years ago and this little girl maybe 7 years old was giving her mother one hell of a time at the check out. She went to take her cart outside and the little girl sat down and wouldn't move. The mother couldn't push the cart and arry the kid at the same time so and the kid was screaming every time she went to touch her. So I asked the mother if she wanted me to either take the cart or the kid and she asked if I would pick the kid up because she wouldn't fight me. I thought to myself...she sure won't fight me...she's only 7 years old. I'm the adult...good grief. I picked the kid up and told her to shut it! and we walked out to her car and I told the kid to get in the back seat and put her seat belt on. She tried to tell me that she gets to sit in the front seat and I told her after acting bad in the store she can sit in the back seat. Her mother didn't say a word to me as I walked away. Good grief what was that mother thinking. If my kid ever threw a fit in the store I left everything in my cart and took her outside and told her we would leave and she wouldn't get anything if she didn't stop acting like a brat. I did leave the cart one time and she knew I was telling the truth...she didn't do it again.

I'm sur ethere's more that bothers me but I can't think of any thing else right now.

Coffee or Tea?

I used to drink a lot of tea but recently I've been on a coffee kick. I still make iced tea because it's so darn hot and hot coffee is kinda weird when it's 111F outside. At least it is to me. But there's just so many cold coffee recipes out there.

Recently I've started making my own iced coffee and saving my money from the high priced Starbucks that I only get once every couple of months anyhow.

I used two teaspoons of regular instant coffee, two table spoons of hersheys chocolate, two table spoons of sugar or two packets of substitute sugar, a little warm water just enough to melt the sugar and coffee and the rest of the glass filled with milk. Add a dollop of whip cream and a couple of ice cubes...

Take responsibility for your actions

Right now I'm going through a bit of a problem with a couple of family members that drink. I don't drink and I don't...no I won't be around people that do. I don't like the way they look, all droopy eyed, slurring their words, thinking they either love you so much, man. Or can't stand you, never liked you.

I grew up with two alcoholic parents and know the horrors of what that's like. I won't live in a relationship with any relative or friend that drinks.

For some reason people who drink and then do things they wouldn't normally do, think they can just say..oh it was the booze..and that makes up for the terrible things that you have done. Well, here's your wake up call, it doesn't.

You chose to take that drink, so you are ultimately responsible for whatever you do while you are drinking.

Either stop drinking or you are out of my life. It's just that simple.

Free Coupons

I know I've talked about how I use a lot of coupons when I go shopping each week. I have been getting them right from the manufacturer through the mail, in the newspaper, my sister in law sends me the ones she doesn't use and I also find some online that I can print out. Facebook is a good place to find coupons for free items. Although I really don't like the fact that I have to become a fan/friend/like a company just to get a free coupon or sample. Just let me fill out the damn form, seriously.

But the other day I went into the smiths grocery store that I always go to and tried using my free Libby's can of vegetables coupon that I had printed from the internet. They informed me that they no longer take coupons for free stuff if it's been printed from the internet. They will still take cents off coupons printed form the internet..so if I have a .75 off of something and the coupon is printed from the internet they will take that. But not if it's for a free product.

I hear that a lot of different grocery companies are doing this and it makes me mad. If they are going to take any type of cents off coupons that are printed form the internet then they should still take the free coupons as well.

Makes no sense to me, I mean it's not like they don't get their money back for these products.

The Arizona Immigration law

I know a lot of people have a problem with the new immigration laws in Arizona, but I don't. I think that if you want to live here you should go about doing so legally and if you are caught living here illegally...then you shouldn't have a problem being taken back when you knew you were breaking the law.

Why are so many of the spanish/mexican descent up in arms about this new law. If you are here legally you have nothing to worry about...right?

What I do have a problem with is the agency who is in charge of making the illegals go back,. ICE...doesn't want anything to do with Arizona's new law and they don't or should I say, won't be taking back the illegals that Arizona cops find on the streets. I find that ridiculous. Just because you don't like the law, doesn't mean you don't have to enforce it. The people of Arizona voted on it and I have a feeling that more states will be voting on similar laws in the future for their own states.

Darn computer viruses

So yesterday I got some sort of computer virus that wouldn't let me scan my computer with Malwarebytes on my account. I had to use my husbands account and scan the computer and it got rid of the virus...or so I thought.

I go back online after scanning for 4 hours and everything is fne for about 2 hours and then Bam! I get hit again.

So I scanned the computer with Avast anti virus and it caught another virus...a different one than Malwarebytes had caught earlier.

So late last night I was going fine and then this morning my computer froze on me. I don't know if maybe I still had the virus or what. I scanned again...with both this time on all accounts and there was nothing found. There went 9 hours I'll never get back...anyway. I log back on and now it said that the computer isn't configured for the proxy server. I'm like what?

Thankfully I remembered that when I have a connection problem that if I use IE the connection wizard will configure the problem and fix it for me. So I logged out of Firefox and logged into IE and the connection wizard comes on and asks if i want it to fix the connection problem...yes!

The virus I had must have re-configured some of the cards...whatever on my computer but thankfully the connection wizard fixed whatever was wrong. Now I am back...at least until the next virus attacks me.

Things that make me laugh in romance books

Some people do not read romance books, *gasp* but I do and for the most part I really love them. But there are a few things that I'll read in a book that will make me chuckle at times. These things are as follow:

The author has given the hero's penis a whole new feel by calling it things like: an engorged, pulsing love log, or a glistening love muscle that has a length of more than 12 inches and she's not running for the door.

You feel so dirty after reading it, you make an appointment with your gynecologist just to make sure you're alright, 'down there'.

Too much Fireman imagery, such as: "Their lust burned brighter than a three alarm fire." or, "His glistening pole of fire was burning hot for her flaming loins."

It may contain a phrase that just sounds silly, like: "His tongue snaked along her back, leaving a moist trail even a snail would be proud of."

She has an orgasm just from having her toes sucked.

She becomes a sex goddess 2 minutes after having her first orgasm...ever! and teaches him a thing or two..even though she was a virgin just a few minutes ago.

Some people talk to much

Have you ever run across a person who upon meeting you for the first time tells you things about themselves that you wouldn't tell your therapist?

Most times when I meet a new person I will say Hi and introduce myself and then wait to see how they act. I'm usually quiet in person until I get to know you. I like to watch people, you learn a lot more about people if you sit back and watch.

Some people upon meeting you have a bad tendency to start talking about how they were in jail, had an affair, are divorced because they beat their spouse, smoke pot, used to do hard drugs, and have never gotten along with their mother.

Seriously? I've had people tell me intimate details about their life after meeting me for the first time and I just don't understand why someone would do that.

Then there are other people who like to make themselves look like bad asses. You know the type, a guy will see you talking with your man and he will say to your man that he would never let his woman talk that way to him in front of his friends that he would smack her and teach her how to act around his friends.

or

Someone will tell you that they spent years in prison for this or that and they now have 'connections'. You know the type who will tell you that they killed someone but never got caught, or they used to steal cars but never got caught because they were just that good. Or their family is so rich they can buy their way out of any problems..even though they are living in a one room apartment..yeah their family is loaded!

If you want to be respected for being a bad ass, then act like it...don't just talk shit. When someone gets in your face, don't back down and then later say..if you hadn't stopped me I would have killed him. Yeah sure dude, you're so bad ass.

Father's Day

>So it's almost father's Day and I want to take this time to say Happy father's Day to all the father's out there.

I already bought something for my hubby but it didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted. I bought a gift basket from Wisconsin Cheeseman on amazon.com and they weren't supposed to send it until this week...but they sent it on the 7th of this month.

And on top of that my hubby didn't even like the sausages and cheese that came in the box. lol I have to admit they weren't as good as let's say Hickory farms or some of the other places that sell the stuff.

So tomorrow I'm making lemon cupcakes and on father's day I'll be making steak for dinner.

Siren's Call By Devyn Quinn

Siren’s Call

Between desire and love there are some things that can’t stay buried, even in the deep of the ocean.

As a woman with a secret, lighthouse keeper Tessa Lonike savors her solitude on the island of Little Mer, off the coast of Maine. During a violent storm, Tessa spots a man thrashing in the ice cold waters and dives in to save him, using her ability as a mermaid to easily pull him to shore.

When Kenneth Randall awakens on the beach he is alone, left with the haunting memory of his beautiful, flame-haired savior. But a year later, when Kenneth meets her again, he’s determined not to let Tessa slip away. Just as the desire between them begins to burn, Tessa’s archaeologist ex-lover comes back to town with a tantalizing clue to her murky heritage.

The trio travel to the Mediterranean in search of answers, and when Tessa inadvertently opens an underwater portal they find a lost mermaid city. But in the deep, not everything is as it seems, and Tessa must decide if she wants to take her place as the royal heir, or follow the call of her heart…

“Siren’s Call is a thoroughly mesmerizing ride — Quinn throws open the doors to an unbelievable world where nothing is as expected. At once terrifying and fascinating and unbelievably entertaining, this is a book you won’t forget.” -Kate Douglas, bestselling author of Wolf Tales & The DemonSlayers

“The author fully pulled me into her world that she created in her mind and put down on paper. I wasn’t left confused or needing to backtrack some pages to figure out what she was talking about, everything flowed smoothly. This story quickly drew me in and was overall fun. It is the first book in a new series called Dark Tides. I am definitely interested in reading the next book in this series. 4.5 Stars. ” – Night Owl Romance

Fly Paper

Is there anything worst than having that vomit colored fly paper hanging down from the ceiling in your apartment or house?
I can't think of anything at this point in time. A few years ago, I bought a few rolls of this sticky vomit colored paper and of course it caught several flies. ewww.

Now that summer is here again and I know the flies are going to be out in force, like a force of small flying creature of pure evil, hell bent on driving me insane! Ahem! I was thinking of getting some of those sticky yellow papers again. I just know it will go well with my decor, I mean they go well with every thing. How can they not? You have priceless china vases and beautiful leather sofas? No problem, just buy three of the yellow vomit colored sticky papers and hang them directly above the sofa and priceless china vases... no one will even notice!

Yeah right...not that I have priceless china vases or anything, but I don't want to fall on my ass when I have to somehow balance myself on a chair and stand on my tippie toes to tack that damned thing into the ceiling.

A note for parents and dog owners

It's that time of year again...summertime. It seems that each year we hear about parents forgetting their babies and toddlers in the car and the children die. I hate seeing that happen, it doesn't have to happen. Take the time to make sure there's no one in your back seat.

Dog owners: There is no good reason to take your dog with you on these hot days, to the store, to run errands or whatnot. Dogs get hot and should never be left inside hot cars. Let them stay at home where it's cool, inside the house with lots of water.

Theatre, Renting movies or On Demand?

I love watching movies, horror movies. But I really do not like going to the theater and having to listen to people crunching and munching on their popcorn, chips or slurping their soda. I don't like paying 10 dollars for a small popcorn and a small soda for myself and having to miss part of the movie to go to the restroom.

I don't like having to put up with idiots who bring their babies who sit and cry all the way through the movie. I mean seriously, who brings a baby to a movie like Predators and doesn't think their kid is going to cry when they see monsters on the big screen? Idiots.

I don't like having to put up with unchaperoned kids who are kicking my back seat, talking behind me, throwing popcorn at each other, making out in the back seats or all have their damned cell phones out with back-lit screens texting all the way through the movie.

Renting movies is a bit better especially with the new Red Box rental places that seem to be popping up everywhere. For a dollar you can rent a movie for a night. That's not too bad. But you have to have a credit card in order to use the Red Box. I don't really like using my debit card for things like this, I just don't trust them not to screw me over and take more money out or steal money from me somehow. Or have the box get broken into and have my information in there somewhere and it just not be safe. I'm a little paranoid when it comes to using my debit card for purchases like this and believe it or not, I don't have a credit card. I like paying for what I want and not putting it on credit. I do have a paypal debit card, but again it's hooked directly to me paypal account which is hooked to my bank account.

I also have a Sears Credit card but I hardly ever use it. If I want something I'd rather save the money and pay for it now. Then I don't have to make payments for it or have a credit card balance. But that's just me.

I could rent from Blockbuster or netflix. Oh don't even get me started on netflix. I used to have netflix and while I loved it. I hate my mailman. I know he was stealing my dvd's. I had 8 dvd's go missing in 2 years. So I canceled the service.

Blockbuster is alright but they charge too much for a movie that you have to bring back within a certain amount of time or you get charged again.

I've come to depend on On Demand for my movies. They usually have the new movies as soon as they are released on dvd and for 5 bucks I can rent the movie, have it to watch again for 24 hours and be able to pause it for a bathroom break and not have to worry about returning it on time.

Smith's Chicken sandwich

Ken and I were at Smith's grocery store the other night doing a bit of shopping and I had a buy one get one free coupon for their new hot chicken sandwich so we decided to get a couple and eat them on the way home.

We get in the car and open them up, first off they were luke warm, smashed in the packaging and smelled bad.

We looked at one another and took a bite. I immediately spit mine back in my hand and Ken chewed for a second before doing the same.

It was awful!

I'm not even kidding. It was the worst tasting thing I've ever eaten and I like pickled pigs feet, so that should tell you something right there.

Good grief, so if you happen to see the new hot chicken sandwiches in the Smith's grocery stores...do yourself a favor and just keep walking. They suck!

Agoraphobia

What is it about stepping outside into the bright blue world that gets some of us all uptight? I really never liked being out and around other people all that much but some days are just worst than others. Like today I had to go out early and go to the doctor for the headaches, swollen feet and hives that I'm having problems with.

Found out I'm having Migraines..got medicine for that, hope it works.
Got a topical cream for the hives- hope it works.

Then my doctor is now sending me to the radiologists office to find out if I have a blood clot in my legs. Oh great. Seems like every time I go to the doctor they find something else wrong with me. But the up side is, if it's not a blood clot and not my heart then it's probably just too much salt.

Let's hope.

But this just means I have to go back out on the 15th to get the ultrasound on my legs. I really don't like going out. Sometimes it's get so bad, I have a panic attack. I'd much rather stay inside.

Tom Cruise

I saw Tom Cruise was back in the news this week because of a dance he did with Jennifer Lopez on one of those award shows. I don't watch most award shows so I don't know which one it was.

But I have to say, I will never watch another movie Tom Cruise is in...ever. A few years ago I was watching Matt Lauer interview him on the Today show and he said some of the craziest things I've ever heard. One of the things was that there's no real science behind the fact that doctors have said some people have chemical imbalances and that's why they have depression. That vitamins can cure postpartum depression and women shouldn't be taking anti-depressants to help them through postpartum depression. His exact words are below.

Cruise said, "These drugs are dangerous. I have actually helped people come off.
"When you talk about postpartum, you can take people today, women, and what you do is you use vitamins. There is a hormonal thing that is going on, scientifically, you can prove that. But when you talk about emotional, chemical imbalances in people, there is no science behind that. "You can use vitamins to help a woman through those things."

So what he's saying is all those countless people who have chemical imbalances...like myself and need antidepressants to keep from sinking into a hole swallowing depression, are full of shit? We don't really need the medicines? Really? I guess he's a doctor now...He actualy said that there's no such thing as a chemical imbalance. What an idiot.

No, he's not a doctor he's a scientologist. One of the many people who believe that drugs and doctors are bad...bad and we should never got to them.

First of all, postpartum depression is caused by hormones in the body that build up while the mother is pregnant and rapidly go back to normal after childbirth, which leaves the poor mother feeling like crying, depressed and her moods are completely out of whack.

Now of course not all women are going to have a bad case, I did though. My postpartum depression lasted for 6 months, it was awful and I tell you right now,,,vitamins were not going to get rid of it.

he went on to say he looked into psychiatry and disagrees with it. That children shouldn't be on drugs for ADHD or depression. They should use vitamins and exercise instead. WTF? I really think he made himself look like an ass and he showed his true colors in that interview..people need to remember that Tom Cruise when he makes a new movie and wants people to spend their hard earned movie to go see it.

Maybe Tom Cruise should stop acting and go to school to become a doctor...but wait he doesn't like doctors so where does that leave him. Off my tv forever..that's where.

Hair

I was in the grocery store and this lady came up to me and put her hands on my hair. Now she said how pretty and long it was, but that's not the point...some people think they can just come up to you and touch you. I'm not all that comfortable with strangers coming up to me and just running their hands through my hair...it's plain damn weird.

Yes, I accept when you have hair down to your butt, you may on occasion catch people looking at it and even once in a while get a compliment and i won't kid you...that's nice. But...I have to draw the line at some strange lady coming up behind me, running her hand through my hair and telling me it's nice.

Just as I thought it was weird for someone to think they had the right to touch my belly when I was pregnant...which I think is totally inappropriate by the way.

I won't lie, I have on occasion seen a tattoo on a guy and thought damn...he's totally hot, i would love to rub my hands all over him..yum! But!...I didn't just go up to said strange man and run my hands down his arms telling him how much I liked his tattoo...no, I know that would be inappropriate. Why can't other people see this?

You want to compliment someone...do it. By all means do it. But don't touch their pregnant belly, run your hands through their hair, sniff their neck because you like their perfume or touch their tattoo....that's a no no.

Auto Volume Control

I am so sick of sitting down in front of the tv to watch a movie or even a show and when those ridiculously loud commercials come on, go scrambling with the remote to turn them down. Or every few minutes having to turn the volume up and then back down again the whole time I’m watching tv. If car manufacturers can put cruise control right into the cars, tv manufacturers should be able to build auto volume control into the damn tv’s. One minute I’ll be watching a really soft moment where you have to turn the volume waaay up and 2 seconds later, a bomb goes off in the background and my walls start shaking with the noise before I can turn the volume back down.

I don’t even like watching movies anymore because for 2 hours I am sitting there controlling the volume…up and down..up..down..and then I’m not fast enough and a loud *BOOM!* gets through, making my neighbors just love me. A commercial will suddenly come on while watching a show and it will be loud as hell…WTF? If so sick of it.

Take a hamster vacation!

You can read my newest article here about how a hotel in France let's guests spend a night as a hamster. Including letting them run in a giant hamster wheel. Seriously...Let me know what you think. Would you spend time at this hotel? Do you think more places to cater to animal lover's this way?

Liars

I don't understand why some people think they have to lie about everything in their lives...all the time. Are they looking for attention? Empathy? or just like to make things up? Maybe they have a mental disorder that makes them think they have to make things up in order to have people accept them?

I don't know and I don't know how to deal with it. For me personally, I hate liars or people who take a simple statement and have to embellish it so it sounds better than the truth.

For me, I can put up with a lot, but for some reason being lied to just rubs me the wrong way and it really makes me mad.

I would confront the person if I thought it would do any good...but unless I can catch them in a lie that I can prove is false...what's the point.

Review- Flirt by Laurell K. Hamilton

Flirt by Laurell. K. Hamilton
5 out of 5 stars

I have been a huge fan of Laurell K. Hamilton's books since I first found them. While I felt Hamilton lost ground with the last book, Skin Trade, this one takes things back to the writing and storyline that made me want to read her books in the first place.

I read the Hardcover version which held 192 pages. While I wish she would make all the books as long as Skin Trade and have all the meat in the books, that isn't always possible. But I can wish.

Anita meets with a woman who wants her to reanimate her dead husband so she can take a horrendous revenge out on him. Anita flatly refuses. Anita also has a client who wants her to reanimate his deceased wife and when she turns him down, he reacts badly and has her kidnapped.

About halfway through the book, I realized where the title of the book comes in. There is flirting going on all the time. Especially in a restaurant scene where the waiter gets tongue tied and flirts with her and one of the men at the table with her.

At the end of the book there is a comic strip that one of Ms. Hamilton's friends did for her, where we find out that this restaurant scene actually happened to her and her friends in real life and that's where she got her inspiration from.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book much more than the last one, even if it wasn't as long as I would have liked it to be.
