To make Fruit Popsicles, you'll need:
A blender
fruit
Popsicle molds
I found my Popsicle molds on Amazon but I've also seen them in the dollar stores and places like Walmart and Kmart.
I started off with strawberries. I cut the cores out and washed them and then added them a little at a time to my blender and pulsed it until smooth.
As you can see in this picture, I didn't strain out the seeds because really, why bother? These were so good and they were done in about 3 hours. So I decided to try another fruit.
I blended up some blackberries and filled the two empty molds and put it back in the freezer. These were also really good. It's getting hotter here and these are going to be really nice on those hot days.
After experimenting with blackberries I realized there are just too many seeds in them for me so I strained the seeds out by pressing the blended blackberry juice through a mesh strainer. The liquid is really thick so you kinda have to press it through with a large spoon and it does take a little bit of time but it's well worth it.
We've been buying strawberry Popsicles for a long time and they are about $5 for a box of 6 of them. I just bought two packs of strawberries at the store at .99 a piece and they made 8 Popsicles. That's quite a savings. I searched out some Popsicle recipes online and there are a ton of them. Adding vanilla yogurt and fresh fruit to make a creamsicle. Or Sprite and pieces of fruit to make something interesting. I have a feeling, I'll be doing a lot of experimenting.
Optional:
Some of the berries were a little tart so I either added 1/2 tsp of sugar or 2 TBSP of Sprite or 7Up to the blended berries and it fixed that right up.
This is a massive improvement of using koolaid and freezing it in such a mold!
ReplyDeleteOh yes it really is.
DeleteThose look delicious and they are healthy, too! Strawberries here are $4 to $6 a quart. But in season, we can get them for $2-3.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've used raspberries, strawberries and blackberries. All came out really good.

Thanks so much. I followed your blog as well. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI have a few popsicle molds, but never tried them with fruit yet. I usually fill them with yoghurt, vla or other desserts.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine blue berries have too many seeds when you turn them into ice, but that's a great idea to filter those out beforehand. Yum, will have to give this a try once!
You should try it. They are so good.
DeleteI never had tried that before
ReplyDeleteYou might like it.
