My mom and dad got divorced when I was 11 and they gave me a big box of photos because I was interested in keeping the family pictures. I went to live with my grandma when they split up and she bought me this photo album to put all the pictures in. That was 35 years ago and this photo album has seen better days. The outside of it is all cracked to hell and is falling apart. The magnetic pages are no longer magnetic and don't stick, so the pictures just move around inside the album and fall out. It was time for a new photo album.
The inside of the photo album is cracking and pulling apart and like I said, the pictures don't stay where they're supposed to. Oh and on this page is a picture of me and one of my dad, both of us at age 12.
The pictures are just in piles inside this old thing.
So here's the new one.
My brother and sister in law gave me this one and I like this with the pockets. These pictures won't be floating around the pages. I have about 20 photo albums. I know everything is digital these days but I really like being able to pull out a photo album and see the picture instead of trying to track one down in a file on my computer. A few years ago I lost some pictures that were stored on my computer when it crashed and it wouldn't turn on again. It happens so now I back all my pictures up on photobucket and order prints from shutterfly for the ones I want print copies of. I should put them all on disc at some point.
That's neat that you are the keeper of the family memories. I'm a big fan of actual photo albums, too. I've got several and always keep one or two handy in the living room just to flip through now and then.
ReplyDeleteI keep mine in the hall closet so I can get at them easily. I love photo albums.
DeleteI like to flip through old photo albums, recalling memories.
ReplyDeleteIts all digital now yet we cling to the past with actual albums, I wonder why?
I think if we grew up with photo albums, we like them and to be able to see the photos of things that happened.
DeleteWow! I have one of those, and it's in the same condition! (lol) It will probably stay that way. I do have to agree with you in that i still like to look at old photos too, and the new book you've placed your treasures in looks amazing. Hugs...
ReplyDeletelol This thing was ready for retirement a long time ago.
DeleteI have an album full of pictures of Jonny when he was younger. You can't beat the old fashioned way of doing things.
ReplyDeleteYou really can't, I love old photo albums.
DeleteLooks like a much better album indeed. Yep, have to back everything up as you never know when a computer may go kaput.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true. Now I just need to figure out a way to put them all on a memory stick or something.
DeleteIf you have Amazon Prime you can store photos there for free and they will never be lost.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't like having to look through files to try and find a photo.
Deletenicely done. i have quite a few old photo albums, too - starting with one my mother began when i was born - to document my first years and the family that came before me.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. I love those kinds of albums.
DeleteA lovely new one :)
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThat's so neat you got to move the pictures to new album and now have a new place to keep them. I do like how handy having everything digital is, but nothing can compare to actually having a photo album in your hands.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of digital photos. I end up having mine printed out anyway.
DeleteI love old photo albums. My parents got divorced when I was two, but everything from my mothers side is a blur. I don't have any pictures of her or any memories. But, I'm sure there's something of her in my little, chaotic brain! Haha!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you don't have any pictures of her.
DeleteThat's why I like the digital age, putting photos in an album is hard work.
ReplyDeleteIt is but I like doing it.
DeleteThe kissing meme is so adorable! I use to scrapbook all the time and then we got a digital camera and that sadly went out the window. I really should pick it up again though, it is nice having them in something you can flip through. ;)
ReplyDeleteI still scrapbook, I just have shutterfly print out and send me the photos I want printed.
ReplyDeleteI love to look through photo albums too. I had some like yours where the magnetic pages no longer work, so I 'upgraded' my photo albums. I've been saving photos on those little flash drives (some people call them thumb drives). I worry that in a decade, they will be obsolete though.
ReplyDeleteI need to buy some thumb drives and transfer my digital pictures to them. That's a good idea.
DeleteOh very nice. I agree. I love having a real photo album to sit and look through. Digital is handy but just not quite the same.
ReplyDeleteI have about 20 of these photo albums. Good thing I have a lot of pictures to fill them up with. lol
DeleteI love physical photo albums too. When I take digital, I put them on a hard drive and then I don't look at them much any more. My grandmother did an amazing job with photo albums when we went on trips. They were the paper kind with the corner to put around the pictures glued to the pages. She would also include brochures and other souvenir which I really appreciate. Glad you enjoy the new photo album.
