It's been a crazy/sad couple of months
I've been a bit stressed out lately because so much has been happening with my family. So I thought I would share a bit of what has been going on in my life.
12/10/2016
My brother found out from a friend that his ex wife who had taken his kids and kept them from him for the last 8 years had been in the hospital in a coma for almost 2 months and his kids now 15 and 16 were staying with his ex wife's friends.
12/12/2016
My brother told me that his ex wife had passed away. His kids were still staying with her friends. His kids didn't want to talk with him but he did reach out to his son via fb and he did call him.
12/15/2016
My brother has talked to the woman that his kids have been staying with and she won't give him her address or tell him where his daughter is. His ex wife told his kids and all her friends that he wanted to kill her and the kids and that's why she took off and never let him know where they lived, which is lies. She took the kids and wouldn't let him be a part of their lives. Parental alienation is a real thing.
12/19/2016 - 12/23/2016
My brother hired a private investigator and then a lawyer to find his kids. He then was served with court papers because the woman who has his kids is fighting for temporary legal custody of the kids. They went to court on the 23rd and the woman won temporary legal custody of my niece and nephew. They go back to court on 2/1/2017 about permanent legal custody of the kids.

My brother asked me a week ago if I would write a character reference for him that he could submit as evidence in the next court hearing. Which meant I would have to go have my letter notarized. Not a big deal except for the fact that I rarely leave my apartment except to walk the dog in front of my apartment complex. The notary nearest me is inside a grocery store and I haven't been in a grocery store or any store for that matter in at least 10 years. Yes, 10 years that's not a typo. My dad took me and thankfully there was just 1 person in line in front of me. But I was shaking so badly I could barely sign my name. But I got it done. Yay me.

My brother found his wife on the bed, she was sweating, dizzy and not all together. My brother who is an ex firefighter/paramedic took her pulse which was really low around 35 BPM (Beats per minute) Normal is around 80. He called an ambulance and they took her to the hospital where the cardiologist said she needed a pacemaker.
1/18/2017
My sister in law had a pacemaker put in but as soon as she woke up she said her chest was hurting and her EKG showed an irregular heartbeat.
1/19/2017
My sister in law had a mild heart attack and they took her back to the cath lab to put the wires in a different place that will hopefully not irritate her heart and stop the chest pain. It worked and she was finally feeling better with a normal heartbeat.
1/20/2017
My sister in law finally got to go home and other than some soreness from the pacemaker being put in, she said she was feeling better.

My 3 year old grandson came over last week and we didn't realize he had a cold and he gave it to me. I'm sick but he's been coughing a lot so my daughter decided to take him to the ER to get a prescription cough medicine. But when the doctor was examining him, he coughed up some blood. So right away this idiot doctor tells my daughter they need to run more tests and give him a chest x-ray to rule out lung cancer. My daughter called me pretty upset but I told her that he probably had a sore throat and that's where the blood probably came from. 6 hours later and they said he has Bronchitis and sure enough his throat is really red and that's where the blood probably came from.
1/31/2017
My grandson turned 4 years old today.
2/1/2017
My brother went to court again...and it got postponed for 2 more months. Ugh.
2/4/2017
I still have a cold. Still wheezing, still coughing and having a stuffy nose makes it damn near impossible to sleep. This needs to go away.
So that's what's been going on in my and my family's lives for the past couple of months. What have you been up to?
Really sad that your brother can't see his children. I hope the courts give him the chance to rebuild these relationships.
ReplyDeleteThe whole situation has been so sad for my brother. His ex ran off with the kids and she never let him see them.
DeleteI can't even fully understand how this custody stuff has gone so far for your poor brother. And to have the kids deliberately deceived and manipulated like that.
ReplyDeleteWow, way to go you to get out and do something that for you was a courageous act to be there for him.
Hopefully you and grandson are on the mend.
Now me? I've been trying to help a friend of a friend get her life back after an abusive ex left her destitute and on the run. I've worked on a writing project. And I've fought with a sinus infection and two migraine bouts. :) Still, not so bad to what it could be.
Thanks for sharing and take care, Mary!
Thank you. It's been a rough few months but hopefully the court thing will get settled soon.
DeleteI sure hope you are able to help out your friend, that's an awful situation. Last time I had a sinus infection I needed antibiotics to get rid of it.
Pathetic how courts can get so twisted it isn't funny thanks to the lies and such. Hopefully he'll win and the cold will go away for you.
ReplyDeleteThe courts only have what the people ay to make a decision. Those kids have been so brain washed.
DeleteOMG, Mary, no wonder you needed a blogging break! That is some stressful business. The custody thing is a nightmare, but the health stuff is scary as well. I'm so glad your grandson was able to enjoy his birthday. And good for you to help your brother, despite your difficulties.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a few distressing issues here. My daughter had a miscarriage and was not well for a while and my husband has to have another hernia surgery because out of the 3 hernias he had fixed last year, one didn't get repaired correctly. It's a long recovery, so that sucks for him. Other than that, we are hanging in there.
Thank you. I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter, that is so sad. I sure hope your husband is on the mend.
DeleteSorry you have so much going on at the moment. Well done for being able to help out your brother when he needed you to; I know how tough that was to get the statement notarized.
ReplyDeleteI hope that things start easing up for you all soon.
Thank you. I am hoping things get better soon.
DeleteMy son turned 42 on the first of February. I haven't spoken with him in years. Don't even have a current address or phone number. I have grown grandchildren I have never seen. When your ex spouse uses the kids to hurt you it is a terrible thing. I wish your brother the best.As long as he gets visitation rights there is hope for reconciliation down the road. Small steps....
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that. It's never ok for one parent to turn the kids against another parent. I am hoping the kids give my brother a chance at some point.
DeleteDang that is a lot of crazy things at one time
ReplyDeleteIt is, hopfully things calm down soon.
DeleteWow... I'm so sorry. That sounds just... Yeesh. I hope you February is a little better, if nothing else.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope so too.
DeleteOh, Mary. That's enough stress for ten people. I'm so sorry and hope this year improves for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I can only hope so too.
DeleteThat is a lot going on. Hang in there
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteOh gosh it has been crazy for your whole family hasn't it? I'm so sorry! *hugs* Hopefully everything will work out for your brother and I'm glad your grandson is okay and hope you are feeling better as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm finally starting to feel better and my grandson is now fine. I have a bad feeling that this court thing is going to last a while.
DeleteSo sorry for everything you're going through. I hope it will get better for you and soon. {{hugs}}

Thank you.
DeleteGoodness, Mary. I knew some of it from on FB and couldn't believe just that. Wow what your family has been through already this year. I hope the rest of 2017 gives yall a bit of a break.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I really hope so too.
DeleteWow that sounds crazy, no wonder you're stressed out. I saw some of this on fb already and I just feel bad for your family for having to go through this all. I hope you have some calmer times soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure things will get much better soon.
