My brother and sister in law recently moved to Locklock, Nevada. Small town, pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. After they moved there my brother who is a retired firefighter, found out that there's a volunteer fire department really close to where he lives. As soon as he told me about it I knew it wouldn't be too long before he would be volunteering there and I was right. So I asked my brother to send me a few pictures of the volunteer fire department he's at now. He sent me all these pictures and I thought it would be fun to share with you all.
Various pictures of the fire truck, and other vehicles.
They respond to different emergencies all the time. I found out in some rural areas the closest fire department is the volunteer fire department. These people are there because they want to be, because they want to help those that need it. I really have a lot of respect for anyone that volunteers like this.

My brother at another fire.
My brother sent me this picture of him and another guy in their gear.
My brother got permission from the picture taker for me to use this picture here and sent me this picture of some of them together. I thought it was a really good picture. From back left to front left. Tressa Bryson, David Bryson, Ryan Piatt, Robbie Turtle, Del Kovach, Bill Kirkland, Laura Lynn, Staci LeAnn, James Drake, Raina Helms, and Tom Helms.
My brother has been telling me all about the calls they have been going on. It's been some fires, medical calls and some car accidents. But since they decided to move out in the middle of nowhere, I'm glad he found something to keep him busy.
Have any of you ever volunteered at a fire department before?
Great he's helping and keeping busy in the middle of nowhere indeed. That is basically all we have around here, volunteer ones.
ReplyDeleteit's great that they want to do it.
Deletethat's great what they are doing
ReplyDeleteThanks, I thought so too.
DeleteWow! I'll bet you are so proud of your brother. Not many would want to go back into such demanding work as a volunteer after they retire. Neat pictures, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI am. Thanks.
DeleteThat's awesome that he volunteers!
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteGreat pictures. For many years, I lived in a town in Eastern Oregon where the fire department and ambulance were all staffed by volunteers. My dad was an EMT during that time.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!
DeleteYour brother looks rather unfazed by the flames.
ReplyDeleteI know. lol
DeleteMy son said "Wow!" at these photos :) That is a wonderful thing your brother does. I am so grateful for people like him that help the community.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad he liked the pictures too.
DeleteAwesome! Volunteer fire departments are so important. Glad your brother is able to meet some people in his new community and do something he loves. :)

All the best Jan
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteYay for Firefighters. You must be very proud.
ReplyDeleteI am.
DeleteI like these people in the photos. Firefighters are the heroes of our century. Kudos to them!
ReplyDeleteI highly appreciate your brother and all the other volunteers who do a great job in saving people and property.
Thank you so do I and I'm sure they'll appreciate your words here.
DeleteAlways nice to hear about people willing to help others. Those fire trucks really have truck engines in front, unlike the ones here.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Those trucks don't look anything like the ones here.
