This is going to sound complicated but I promise you, it's not. I don't have a smart phone so in order to get my pictures to instagram, I have to upload them to my computer from my camera and then download them to my Kindle from my laptop. It's a pain. So when H.R.Sinclair wrote a post on her blog about uploading pictures to instagram from a computer, I was so excited. Only problem was her instructions did not work for me until I started poking around my own page and figured out a way to make this work. I'm using Chrome on my laptop but I don't know if that makes any difference for these instructions.
First, log into your Instagram account.
Next, right click anywhere on the Instagram page and click on "Inspect" which should be the last thing in the drop down box.
Now click on the icon at the top of that page that I have circled in red.
Next you will click on the drop down box that I have circled in red on the left hand side of the screen. Before I clicked on it, it said 'responsive'. Then click on one of the iphone choices. It doesn't matter which iphone choice you pick. I tried all of them and they all worked for me.
Next you will REFRESH the page.
This is the most important step. If you don't refresh the page, the next step won't work.
After you refresh the page, the plus symbol should appear just like if you were on a smartphone. Now you can click that and upload a photo just as you would using a phone.
Wow I didn't know you could do that. This is awesome to know- thanks!!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome. I'm glad I could help. I was surprised it worked.
DeleteWow! Had no clue this could even be done, and I'm so grateful Marvelous Mary! Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it helped you.
DeleteI've had a lot of issues uploading photos to Instagram even when it's on the same device the photo is on! I think their App sucks, to be honest. But I'm glad you found a work around.
ReplyDeleteIt was so hard for me to get any pictures on there but this works so well.
DeleteWay to go, Mary! I need this because I have pictures on my PC that I didn't know how to get to Instagram.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad this is helpful.
DeleteI'm on twitter but not on SC or Insta
ReplyDeleteI'm on on insta because of my daughter. lol
DeleteI don't have an Instagram, but I have used it in the past! I always thought they made it too difficult to add pictures to their website, so I'm happy you took the time to explain everything in detail. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteLindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
I need instructions like this in this kind of detail so I figured others might too. I'm so glad it was helpful.
DeleteWe haven't been in our Instagram in a long time, probably don't even remember the password. We didn't have luck even from our smartphone. That's a pretty slick solution though.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was surprised it worked.
DeleteInstagram app always crashes on me, drives me insane
ReplyDeleteI've only ever used the app on my Kindle and it worked fine but I had to transfer all the photos to it and that was a pain.
DeleteTHANK YOU!! I needed this :) xo
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I figured I wasn't the only one who could use this info. I'm glad it's helpful.
DeleteI confess that I haven't tried Insta
ReplyDeleteIt was new to me too.
DeleteI've been trying to discover a way to be able to post on Instagram from my computer, so I am really happy you posted this as all the solutions I found were way more complicated. Will have to try this out soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy this is so helpful to so many people.
DeleteFinally got around to trying this and it worked perfectly, although I did have to look around for a bit to find the correct option as it was located in a different spot on my browser. Thanks so much for sharing this!
DeleteI'm glad it helped you.
DeleteThis is a clear and easy explanations. I read the article you referenced and my eyes rolled into the back of my head. I will try your tutorial and let you know how I do.
ReplyDeleteLMAO Oh that is funny. I couldn't understand her instructions either. I was like well that didn't work, click here, click there. Just kept clicking until something worked.
DeleteYay it totally worked. Cool beans Mary!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so happy to hear that!
DeleteI don’t do Instagram... gasp. I know, I just have time to get sucked into more social media. I am glad though that your instructions helped others.
ReplyDeleteCompletely understandable.
DeleteThanks for sharing this info, greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome.
DeleteNever knew it could be done on a computer. Great that there is a work around.
ReplyDeleteI was very happy to find this work around.
DeleteI don't know if I have the patience for Instagram. Glad you figured out how to do this though.
ReplyDeleteTo me it's just a place to post pictures.
DeleteGood to know, thanks. I was getting aggravated with Instagram yesterday because it was taking forever to upload and share to Facebook. Usually I like Instagram though. I joined it mainly to keep up with my daughters on there.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I joined too.
DeleteI don't use Instagram, but sure many of your readers will appreciate this.
ReplyDeleteHope your week is going well.
All the best Jan
Thank you. It's been good so far.
DeleteI just saw this and wonder if it will work from my Fire. I haven't been able to use Instagram before because my smartphone is too old to cope!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know but I know it works for laptops.
DeleteI cannot wait to give this a try. This has been something I have wanted to do for a while. Thanks so much for posting.
