This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
The only things that happened this week was someone cut through the chain link fence in our alley and dropped off 2 huge pieces of palm tree by our trash can. The manager is really mad but I doubt that fence will get fixed. And we have new walkway lights.
People keep knocking out the security lights in the courtyards so our new maintenance man is installing 8 new motion detected lights along the walls by the apartment doors. All the drug dealers were watching him install these lights and grumbling and asking questions about them. Only 2 people me and 1 other apartment ever even turn our porch lights on because the drug dealers like it to be dark so they can do their business in more privacy. No more privacy for you. LOL New bulbs in the security lights too.
Our apartment manager told us that she came to our courtyard a few nights ago at 11PM wearing a beanie and large coat so no one would recognize her. She said she saw how dark it was in our courtyard after we complained a few times and had her adult son come with her because she didn't feel safe being here at night. I walk my dog alone at night so does that make me a badass? Maybe it's just my resting bitch face keeping anyone from messing with me? lol
So now we have more lights. I wonder how long they'll last.
The maintenance guy said that if any go out just let the manager know and they'll be replaced that day. We'll see. At least she listens to our complaints and does something about the ones she can...so far.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
Outdoor lights are a must- the more the better, to minimize danger.
ReplyDeleteYour manager seems to be on the right track.
I'm glad she had them put up.
DeleteThat's a great improvement.
ReplyDeleteIt is.
Deleteit's weird for the palm tree but it's great for the bulb!
ReplyDeleteSomeone really went out of their way to put the palm tree pieces here.
DeleteWouldn't it take more effort to drag the palm tree pieces to that area and cut a chain link fence then just to leave the pieces wherever they came from? Bizarre! Yeah for the lights! Is this a new manager?
ReplyDeleteYeah a new manager. The old manager got sick and left. I have no idea what someone was thinking when bring the palm tree pieces here.
DeleteSeems wayyyy to annoying to drag the palm tree pieces there. Weird. Great that the drug dealers will get a little light shone on them.
ReplyDeleteIt really was weird. I'm glad the drug dealers son't have more privacy and darkness.
DeleteHope the lights last. Maybe they need to install stadium lights?
ReplyDeleteSo far no one has done anything to them. So far so good.
DeleteI guess those scoundrels weren't strong enough to throw the palm tree pieces off the fence. Nevada must have unique rules about palm trees if they were so desperate to get rid of them.
ReplyDeleteThey could have just put them in their own dumpster unless it was on a home and they didn't have big enough trash cans. I have no idea. I cannot believe they cut the fence to put them there though.
DeleteI agree, hooray for more lights!
ReplyDeleteMore lights are great.
DeleteNew lights? Excellent. Cutting the fence to dispose of palm fronds? Weird.
ReplyDeleteIt was really weird. They could have just come down the alley and deposited the palm tree parts.
DeleteMaybe the new lighting will last. Definitely safer.
ReplyDeleteIt does feel safer at night.
DeleteThe palm tree thing was weird
ReplyDeleteI know. People are so strange.
DeleteI hope the new lights stick around for a while. That can only help.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteI'm glad to hear you have more lighting. I used to have to come in to work early in the morning, sometimes before the sun came up, in a bad neighborhood. It's not fun, but you have to do what you have to do, like walk your dog. You can't just let him poop on the floor. Well, I guess you could, but eww. LOL. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteMelanie @ Hot Listens & Books of My Heart
LMAO yeah eww. I never realized how dark it was in some parts until they put the lights in.
DeleteThe apartment complex we lived in when we first moved to Portland had a constant problem with people driving in and dumping their big trash items. The school where I work did, too. Not sure how the apartments handled it, but the school is new now and our dumpsters are locked inside a fenced area. And oh, cameras. A LOT of cameras. When people know they're being watched that seems to help a bit.
ReplyDeleteCameras would be great here but I'm sure they would get destroyed with all the gang activity and drug selling.
DeleteLove you having new outdoor lights. I hate when people think they can throw their crap into apartment of business garbage.
ReplyDeleteThey even cut the fence when they could have just driven down the alley too. Crazy people.
DeleteThat's why places need to be a little more lax about dropping off trash.
ReplyDeleteYeah, too bad there weren't cameras out here.
DeleteDumping the palm tree was weird. I'm all for security lights and plenty of streetlamps!
ReplyDeleteIt was weird.
DeleteIt looks like it took more effort to dump the palm pieces as they did, than to have disposed of them properly!
ReplyDeleteThose things are big and heavy. I bet it took a couple of people to do that.
