This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
A couple of days ago I heard a loud fight going on 5 doors from mine, across the courtyard. I took the dog out front of my apartment complex and the police showed up. When I heard the screaming and yelling getting louder and the police yelling for someone to get on the ground, I stayed out front until the yelling stopped and I figured things had calmed down enough for me to walk Falcor back into the courtyard and go back in my apartment. I always have my camera on me when I go outside just in case something like this happens because you just never know when a fight is gonna break out around here. But I try not to take a lot of pictures of the police officers themselves while I'm outside because they get really mad when you do that and I'm not gonna be on the wrong end of that mess, so I just take pictures of the police cars most times. My brother likes to ask me why I don't stand out there and film the police and my neighbors and, well, that's why.
On the 4th of July we heard a few gunshots but nothing around here caught on fire so that's good.
Then on Friday night when California had the 7.1 earthquake we here in Las Vegas definitely felt that one. I was sitting on the couch and yelled at Ken that we were having an earthquake but it took a few seconds for it to register with him. My place shook for a while but nothing fell off the shelves.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
My eldest brother used to live in Ridgecrest which I think was where the earthquake was strongest. I have only ever experience minor rumbles (thankfully).
ReplyDeleteLife is certainly not dull where you live.
I had brother who lived there too.
Deleteearthquake>.< glad to know that you're doing okay!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteYes do not stand outside filming, why would he even say that. Stay safe. Because not just cos of the cops but the crazies outside
ReplyDeleteBecause my brother is crazy and he wants to see me get arrested. LOL
DeleteGood that it didn't hit you hard. True, standing out there and taking their pics is just asking for trouble.
ReplyDeleteIt sure would be.
DeleteHonestly, I would be afraid to go out when there's trouble of some kind outside. Many people get hurt just by being at the wrong place and time.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if you happen to be there, make sure they don't see you take pictures; take them in a furtive manner.
Very true.
DeleteWow, Earthquake! I really need to watch the news more. Glad you are safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was quite something to feel.
DeleteMy goodness, that earthquake news I've been hearing was really scary! I'm always concerned for you and want you to be safe. Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm always as safe as I can be.
DeleteI wouldn’t want to get too close to the action either!
ReplyDeleteNope. I'll just take pictures of the cars. lol
DeleteYou need to set up some sort of futuristic camera that can film outside by you pushing a button INside! I have no idea where to get one and I'm sure it would be prohibitively expensive, but we could all look at what's going on!!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Stay inside. It's safer.
That's a great idea if I could find something like that.
DeleteThey said it could be felt in Vegas. Glad there wasn't anything damaged at your place.
ReplyDeleteYeah we definitely felt it here.
DeleteI saw on Twitter where you said you felt the earthquake. So glad you guys are safe.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was wild.
Deleteamazing post, I like it :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your post!

Thanks.
DeleteYou're right about not aggravating the cops with taking photos. Glad the earthquake didn't damage anything, they can be scary.
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit scary. I won't be aggravating the cops.
DeleteSound like the police knows your apartment complex well.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
They sure do.
DeleteSo crazy. I'm glad you stay out of it. Have a great week.

I'm glad I only take pictures of the cars most times, they can't say much about that.
DeleteWow! I am glad that you didn't have any problems with that earthquake. So many situations in your complex!
ReplyDeleteThe earthquake wasn't bad here but it was interesting.
DeleteEarthquakes are a little unsettling. Glad you’re okay.

Thank you.
DeleteI hear the earthquakes were terrible.
ReplyDeleteIn California they were.
DeleteWe returned from San Diego the day before the earthquake. I looked on the map and it looked as though the quake was closer to Las Vegas than any major city in California.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get any damage here like they did in Ridgecrest.
DeleteI think it makes good sense that you don't take pics of the police. I'm sure they aren't all that excited to be on camera.

I usually only take pictures of the actual cops when I'm in my apartment and can do it hidden behind the window. lol
DeleteHow scary that must have been feeling the earthquake there. Mother Nature needs her meds adjusted. Earthquakes, flooding, and here in my area we've had 3 tornadoes in the past 2 months. It's getting ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I'm glad that I live where I do because we don't get hurricanes and hardly get tornadoes.
DeleteThat sounds scary! I can't handle gunshots, I've got PTSD from being robbed at the last place I worked so I would've been losing my freaking mind. I am glad that the earthquake didn't knock anything off your shelves!
ReplyDeleteOh hell, sorry to hear that.
