This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
On Monday evening I walked outside with Falcor and as I round the end of my apartment complex, there were 8 cops standing there headed into my courtyard. They stopped me and asked if I was Jessica. When I said no, they didn't believe me at first and then asked if I knew a Jessica or if I had heard a domestic dispute going on. I hadn't so they walked into my courtyard and started knocking on doors while I walked out front with the dog. They couldn't find who they were looking for so they left.
It was a fairly quiet week.

Life Update:
Ken went to the Oncologist and they said he has malignant brain cancer as well as the lung cancer. They are going to do a lung biopsy and put in a chest port so they can start him on chemo for the brain cancer. Once they figure out what kind of lung cancer it is they will be treating that too. The MRI showed something in his abdomen so they are going to do more testing to see if he has cancer there as well. Lots of tests and doctors appointments right now and we don't have a car so I am scrambling to get rides set up, take a taxi or whatever. I sent in an application for Paratransit and he got approved for that but for some of the procedures where they give you anesthesia, they make you have someone with a car there waiting on you to come out.
For that reason my daughter and I set up a fundraiser to either be able to buy a car or just cover taxi rides back and forth to the doctors appointments and chemo appointments and anything that isn't covered by insurance. If you'd like to help out or share the fundraiser page I'll post a link. Thank you in advance.
Since a couple of you are having problems with the FB fundraiser I'll share 2 other ways to donate.
Cashapp- $scarymary66
or
Paypal- me8acat@yahoo.com
I hope that makes it easier.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
I tried to donate, but it looks like you need a Facebook account to do so. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem.
DeleteI'll add 2 other ways to donate to the post.
DeleteThank you, Infidel. I got your donation. That means a lot.
DeleteLMAO at 8 cops thinking you're a Jessica. Mess! 😃😄
ReplyDeletelol It was kinda funny.
DeleteIt is just as well it was a quiet week at the Apartments - you have more than enough on your plate.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know if there is a way we can donate without FB.
I added 2 other ways to donate. Cashapp and paypal. Those are the only other ways I have at this time.
DeleteI hope whoever they're looking for is doing okay, and glad this was set up for you. Hopefully there's a way that friends can also donate who don't have Facebook. Sending lots of air hugs to you and the family. RO
ReplyDeleteI posted 2 other ways to donate. I hope that helps.
DeleteIt does. Thank you. I have made a donation using Paypal.
DeleteMay God have mercy on Ken and his family!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteOh brother on the cops thinking you're Jessica out walking your dog. Did the oncology dept give you any resources to help you, such as a Chemo Angels type of charity? It doesn't seem right that you have to buy a car or get a taxi for Ken to get treatments.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't give us any resources at all.
DeleteMan, with the cops coming so often It's a surprise they don't know everyone's name who lives in the complex. But I get it..it's almost like they send someone different everytime. There is a complex near my home in Brooklyn park called 'the hunting place' and everyone knows how bad it is. and it's been giving the whole city a bad name.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they don't know all of us too.
DeleteI figured they'd just ask for id
ReplyDeleteYou would think.

ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSending love your way.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI'm not sure Jessica would say "yes" to 8 cops either! Sending all of my thoughts to you and Ken.
ReplyDeleteShe probably wouldn't.
DeleteYou really do have the craziest experiences at your apartment!
ReplyDeleteSending all my best wishes to you and Ken as you prepare to fight this terrible disease!
Yeah it's very entertaining here. Thank you
DeleteOf course you're not Jessica, we'll vouch for you. Prayers to you all from us.
ReplyDeletelol Thank you.
DeleteSending all the thoughts your way at the moment, Mary! I'm hoping the treatment helps push the cancer back and Ken is as comfortable as possible throughout it all.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope so too.
DeleteThoughts and prayers that you get enough to cover all of your rides.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteSeeing that many police would scare me. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way for Ken and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I might have been scared years ago but I see police almost on a daily occurance so it just doesn't phase me anymore.
DeleteI wonder what Jessica did? I have been thinking about you, Ken, and your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI sent a donation via paypal. I hope it helps.
DeleteThank you, I got it. Every bit helps so I appreciate it.
DeleteThat's actually hilarious how eight cops thought you were the wrong person :)
ReplyDeleteBeena @ Beena Khan
Right? I thought it was funny too.
DeleteYou would have thought they'd ask for ID. I hope Jessica or whoever was involved in the domestic dispute is okay.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family are able to raise enough money for a car. I'm sending positive vibes your way. Your family has been through so much.
Thank you.
DeleteI'm so sorry you guys are going through so much right now.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that.
DeleteSending kindness and love your way. As you know I do in homecare, and have anyone down your way send you to a social worker. They might no how to line up different programs that could make life less stressful and run smother. I know medicaid here will pay twenty five cent a mile for medical appointments
ReplyDeleteWe saw a social worker. We have one kind of ride but they take a long time to come pick you up and if he has to have any kind of surgical procedure done, the doctor wants someone in the waiting room that has a car. So the ride place can't help with that.
DeleteNever a dull moment at your apartment complex! Your family is in my thoughts and prayers Mary.
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
Thank you.
DeleteI'm really sorry to hear this is such a financial burden. I hope you will be able to fund a car. (((((((HUGS)))))))
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSorry to hear about Ken's cancer. It sounds like stage #4. I just went through that with my dad. Hope it works out for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your dad.
DeleteI hope Ken will be allright. All thoughts with you
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteIt seems you always have something going on where you live. This time again with the police showing up.
ReplyDeleteI hope the fundraiser helps to get you more money to cover the taxi rides or buy a car. It can be difficult to get a certain places to appointments when you don't have a car. I hope Ken will be alright. Best of luck to you all.
Thank you.
DeleteI'm so sorry for all the pain that you are all going through right now. Words seem inadequate at this time but the good thing is that he is now on the start of treatment. There are so many different treatments out there now that hopefully they quickly find what works for Ken and halts the progress of the cancer to start with, then starts beating it back with a big stick. My dad and I are thinking about all of you. x
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that.
DeleteYour neighborhood is...interesting, to say the least.
ReplyDeleteOh my, isn't your husband unlucky. I hope they find something that gets in those malignant cells' way and arrest the progress! I also hope you can solve your transportation problem. I'm too big of a coward to drive, so I can relate.
It's definitely an interesting neighborhood. lol
DeleteThank you, I really appreciate that.
There's always something going on! I think if I saw that many police it would scare me!
ReplyDeleteI'm saying a prayer and sending positive thoughts for Ken, you and your family.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
I see a lot of police around here so seeing that many never bothers me because I know they aren't here for me. lol
DeleteJust sent a small donation via Paypal. Hope it helps!!
