Summer is here and the temperatures are definitely heating up. But along with the hot temperatures comes Monsoon Season where we can can flash floods and downpours that last a few minutes to all day. When the clouds roll in, I really like those days. This first picture as a sunrise one day when I saw just a few clouds.
There were more clouds right above us and funny enough I felt a tiny bit of moisture from the clouds that never made it to the ground.
It sure looked like we might get a little rain, but we didn't but the clouds looked spectacular.
It rained by the mountains but we got no rain once the clouds reached us. Still looked really cool though. I love overcast, cloudy days.
Those skyscapes are spectacular. I also love cool and cloudy days - but rain is always welcome here.
ReplyDeleteI wish it rained more here.
DeleteHow often does it rain in Vegas?
ReplyDeleteNot often. We usually get around 4 inches of rain per year. The rainiest months are July-September.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed gazing at those cloud formations above Vegas, dear friend. Mrs. Shady and I have watched the entire series of C.S.I. several times, and among the most memorable episodes are those that depict the flash flooding caused by those monsoon rains. I'm in Central Florida where the rainy season has now technically begun, but we are bone dry and in desperate need of moisture. I hope you get some rain soon, but no rough stuff.
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Mary!
Oh I loved that show and it does a good job of depicting the flash floods.
DeleteI love overcast days too. I guess it's the British ancestry. Your desert seems to be more comfortable than our rainforest at the moment -- June up here brought nasty heat and not much in the way of cloud.
ReplyDeleteI should move to Washington State where it's cloudy and rainy more often than here. It's really starting to heat up here now. 105 today.
DeleteWe haven't been getting enough rain either. Glad we don't get monsoons though.
ReplyDeleteThe rain would be nice if it weren't for the flash flooding. I've been here long enough to see this city overhaul so much the drainage so that the streets don't flood as often now. It used to be really bad.
DeleteI swear, everyday looks like that here. I guess that’s why we like the opposite!
ReplyDeleteProbably. lol
DeleteVery cool sky shots!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteBeautiful images, Mary.

DeleteGreat photos! Cloudy skies are always so fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteYes they are. Thank you.
DeleteBeautiful shots! I love the sky, especially when the clouds are gathering up.
ReplyDeleteI love those days.
DeleteCool photos, we like watching the sky too!
ReplyDeleteI know! Thank you.
DeleteI love cloudy days too, and just staring at the sky sometimes. Great pics! Especially nice with the mountains as a backdrop.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteVery cool skies, the can change so fast.
ReplyDeleteThank you. yes, they can.
DeleteThe sky often surprises us with all its beauty and wonder. Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThat's very true.
DeleteClouds looks powerful.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I thought we were going to get a powerful storm too but nope.
DeleteI love the look of clouds! Especially the really gray and moody ones!
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteOh that's some really nice ones!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWell, I finally got thru your June Posts and semi-caught up with some other Blog Friends too, I feel quite accomplished now. *Winks* I love a cloudy day, we sure could use the Rain and I hope this Monsoon Season isn't a bust like the past couple years have been. We had one good day of Rain here recently, that's about it so far.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. I hope this monsoon season is super charged with some good thunderstorms.
DeleteI love the overcast cloudy days too, Mary. Especially when the clouds are dark gray and ominous looking like your last picture.
ReplyDeleteI love that too. The darker the clouds the better.
