This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.
On Wednesday I saw several police cars drive past me and only got my camera out in time to catch this one. I think they were just patrolling but three cars went into the alley to the apartment complex that is right across the street from me and this one circled the block twice while I was out walking Falcor. I saw one police car in the alley behind my complex but he left before I could get a picture. He wasn't speeding but he was going faster than a car should be going in an alley. I've seen a lot of police driving down my street lately. Maybe that's why things have been so quiet around here. They don't even have to get out of the car. lol
Married guy hasn't been hanging around cordless drill woman, in fact I haven't seen her in a while. But he has been letting long haired guy who is homeless and a meth head, sleep by his door. Yep, married guy lives right across from me. On Wednesday *and several other days) I watched as long haired guy (pictured) got out his meth pipe and was hitting the pipe. This dude does not care who sees him hitting the meth pipe. Yeah, sometimes he will turn his head a little or try to cover the meth pipe with his hands so I don't see it but it's pretty obvious what he's doing. Soon after he hit the pipe this morning, he passed out in front of married guy's apartment while he was working on his bike. Married guy is also taking care of long haired guy's tiny, old chihuahua which I'm glad about because it's too hot out here for a dog to be out in this heat. Married guy brings food and water out to long haired guy all the time too. I think the only thing stopping this guy from moving in to married guy's apartment is married guy's wife most likely.
Long haired guy is a frequent visitor to drug dealers apartment even though drug dealer tried to kill long haired guy a couple of years ago. My daughter and I heard gunshots that night and then police showed up and arrested drug dealer for attempted murder of long haired guy. Long haired guy had a wound on his head like the bullet had grazed his head. I don't know if the charges were dropped or what but drug dealer got out of jail in about 3 weeks after that happened.

I get up Friday morning to take the dog out and there's two people sitting in our chairs in front of my apartment, arguing. She gets up to leave and he stands there trying to talk to me. Then she comes back and sits down again and I said, "Oh no, you both need to leave"
She gets up and talks really fast in Meth-English. I can't understand anything she says and she leaves.
Then he's standing there, high as hell trying to talk to me about, "He's trying to help her."
I said, "I don't care, you need to leave." So he walks off apologizing all the way down the walkway.
I look up and my neighbor across from me is peeking out his window. You might know him as *Married guy* from my blog.
The high this week was 106f/41C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
Aaaargh.
ReplyDeleteAnd 41C is too hot.
I am glad that Married Guy helps the dog at least. It nearly makes up for some of his other behaviour.
Yeah, at this point I think the guy gave the dog to him since he's been taking care of it for a few weeks now.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteFirst, it's good to know that the peak temp for the week was slightly lower than it's been. Even so, I feel for the homeless and the long hair guy's dog. Knowing that he still returns to an apartment where he was shot in the head and nearly killed a couple of years ago speaks to his desperation. It is a kind gesture for married guy to let long hair guy camp outside his pad and to give him food and water, but it isn't a very pleasant sight for you and your daughter when you look out the window. I wonder why he broke up with cordless drill woman. Perhaps he can start hooking up with Jessica now. :) It would be disconcerting to step outside my door and find two drugged-up people arguing. You are remarkable for having the ability to adjust to your apartment h-life.
Have a safe and happy week, dear friend Mary!
The temps will be up and down until October when it will cool down. It's sad that he's that desperate for drugs.
DeleteThe people around here don't usually bother me but I can take care of myself if they do.
Helping the dog is that guy's only redeeming quality.
ReplyDeleteBring those chairs in when you aren't using them. You don't need idiots hanging by your door.
That's true. At least he has some compassion for the guy and his dog. They do drugs together though.
DeleteI would bring the chairs in if I had room. I live in a 650 sq foot apartment and have no room inside for those chairs.
Having those chairs outside your unit, is like an invitation to those folks, and confronting those two seems dangerous. They could have overpowered you before you could get to the ax. Do you ever see Married Guy's wife? What's she like?
ReplyDeleteLots of people around here have chairs outside their apartments. I had my taser on me if I needed to use it.
DeleteI've talked with married guys wife. She has some mental problems but won't get help. She just does a lot of cocaine, at least that's what her husband told mine.
Methheads.... They do speak in their own language lol. But you're so much braver than me, if I saw them outside sitting in my chairs I'd just freak and call the cops lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not afraid to confront people if I have to. Most times if you show you aren't afraid of them they will just leave. I had my taser on me too.
DeleteAt least married guy has got half a conscience...
ReplyDelete"Then he's standing there, high as hell trying to talk to me about, "He's trying to help her."
I said, "I don't care, you need to leave." So he walks off apologizing all the way down the walkway."
It takes guts not to get intimidated by these people - at least it repays! But ugh. I would be so upset and afraid the whole time.
Yes, he does seem to like the dog and does help the other guy out.
DeleteI'm not afraid of these people around here. Maybe I'm dumb but I will confront them if I have to.
I love that you say "he (police) was going faster that you should go in the alley."
ReplyDeleteMy brother is a cop now(smh) and I already know he goes faster than the law allows(please help us).
LOL That made me laugh.
DeleteIt’s pure craziness there! I’m glad you are not afraid to confront some of them.
ReplyDeleteI might be dumb fr doing it but I refuse to back down from these idiots. Most of the time if you show you aren't afraid to tell them off and are intimidating, they leave you alone. I have RBF, (Resting bitch face) so most everyone leaves me alone. LOL
DeleteYou really do have your own version of Cops going on there!
ReplyDeleteYeah we really do.
DeleteYour apartment complex is like the druggie version of a soap opera!
ReplyDeleteI know! lol It's always so crazy around here.
DeleteI'm glad the chihuahua gets help. It is a shame how addiction destroys people and wherever they stay. I imagine the dog is why the man across from you allows the man to stay on his front porch.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm assuming so too. But They both do drugs together all the time too.
DeleteI guess they take all types to make the world go around.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
That's true.
DeleteYou are a much braver person than I am. Meth-heads scare the crap out of me.
ReplyDeleteI can understand that.
Deletewell...it's not boring. stay safe
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
No it's not.
DeleteWhat about the social services of the city. Shouldn't they be involved in the lives of these people who are a constant nuisance to normative people like you?
ReplyDeleteNo, social services don't really get involved jess they are asked to by the pee themselves and there are very few services for the homeless and drug addicted here.
DeleteThe police are busy in your area. Although maybe that's good as a deterrent like you said.
ReplyDeleteWow surprised drug dealer guy got off on that shooting. You neverknow...
People sitting in your chairs! Some people have all the nerve, right?
It's good that the police are around here a lot. People are strange.
DeleteGlad to hear that you have taser Dear Mary! I think homeless people are issue of the whole world! There are lots of Homeless people here and some of them are really dangerous. Bye the way, it is up to you but "Apartment (Hell) Life" book sounds good. Thanks for this post.
ReplyDeleteHopefully ill never have to use the taser.
DeleteMeth is powerful. I know two people whose lives have been completely ruined by it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a life you lead.
It is. It destroys lives.
DeleteVery hot, and that crazy place
ReplyDeleteIt is hot for sure.
DeleteNever a dull moment in your neighbourhood! I'm just glad I never got in the clutches of a drug dealer and had my life turned upside down.
ReplyDeleteI am glad about that too.
DeleteI wouldn't care for two random people to sit in front of my apartment either! Very rude. Well, looks like married guy has a soft spot for long haired guy. I'm happy the little dog is being cared for.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he is caring for the dog too.
DeleteUgh. Stay safe. 😕
ReplyDeleteI will try.
