This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 25 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.
The police were on my street at the end of my apartment complex. There had been three police cars out there but one left before I got a picture of it. It looked like they were just there talking. I have been seeing more of a police presence around here ever since the shooting right before New Year's Day.
----
On Tuesday morning my daughter's ex boyfriend who lives on the same block as we do, was attacked by the same dog I told you about last week. The same dog who attacked my next door neighbor's dog and then ran off, ran into the ex boyfriend's apartment and attacked him. For no reason. The dog is vicious. The ex had to go to the ER because his hand got mauled and he needed a bunch of stitches. He also has nerve damage to his thumb and needs to see a hand specialist for that.
The ex is mad because Animal Control came out and sat on the street waiting to see if they could spot the dog because no one knows where this dog lives. So they couldn't do anything until someone figures out where the dog lives. It must be somewhere on this street so we are all keeping an eye out for it to find out where it lives so the people who have been attacked can press charges against the owner for letting the dog run free and Animal Control can do whatever it is they will do. The dog needs to be taken away at the very least and in my opinion put down. I hate to say that but unprovoked attacks are not something I'm ok with.
I've been carrying my knife along with my tazer on walks because the ex said that he was punching the dog to get it to stop biting him and it was completely unfazed by the punches and kept biting. This guy is big and he said he was really trying to get the dog off him. If a big, strong man can't get a dog off then I have no chance at all. So I'm carrying my knife just in case the tazer doesn't make a dog stop attacking. You just never know. Now I have to worry about this.
---
On Friday while I was walking Falcor I saw one of the druggies sitting near the bushes doing drugs. I ignored him as I always do but this other guy that was walking by went over to him and started cussing him out, telling him not to be doing that around here that he had nephews and there were other small kids around here that didn't need to be seeing that. The guy got up and left.
Then the man who made the druggie leave said he was sorry I had to see that. He said, despite what he looked like, he's not down for that sort of thing and if I see him f*cking someone up around here, it will be because they are out in the open doing drugs where little kids can see them. I thanked him for running the guy off and went home. I see him most mornings now and we always say hi to each other. It was nice to meet another normal person in this neighborhood.
The high this week was 59F/15C
The low this week was 32F/0C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
OMG, that dog is scary!! be careful
ReplyDeleteI will try to be.
DeleteI hope that dog can be moved on quickly. And that his 'owners' are punished.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteIf I lived in your area, I'd get a gun. Vicious dogs are very dangerous, and some of the people around there could be as well.
ReplyDeleteI've definitely been thinking about it.
DeleteThat is crazy no one can catch that dog. You keep that tazer at the ready.
ReplyDeleteOh I am.
DeleteNo wonder dogs freak me out!
ReplyDeletePS the second series banner at my place is actually for THE RIG, you did not have to search for it around the site :) I have three banners that change every five seconds.
DeleteOhh OK. It's a hood show. Have you watched it? Dogs don't usually freak me out but a leashless, biting dog sure dies. 🐶
DeleteI have, you saw it an my Facebook last week, methinks. I'm on episode four or five.
DeleteOhh ok, you're right, I did.
DeleteThat is so scary about the dog attack! My nephew was bitten on the ass while jogging a few years ago and had to get stitches and the owner tried to fight him on paying the medical bills. Unprovoked attacks like that are definitely a reason to put a dog down.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you met a friendly, normal person in your neighborhood!
That's nuts.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteIt was bad enough in the past when you walked Falcor and all you needed to worry about were sketchy characters milling around the neighborhood, going in and out of the drug dealer's apartment, or sleeping it off on the sidewalks. Okay, I almost forgot. You also needed to worry about dodging needles and other paraphernalia scattered on the ground. Now you have a mean rogue dog that roams around and attacks people and pets without provocation. Phantomlike, the mutt strikes and then disappears without anyone knowing where it came from. It seems very unusual that a dog would enter a strange apartment and attack the resident for no reason, leaving me to believe it was desperately searching for food and/or it has rabies. I imagine that was the first thing they tested your daughter's ex for. I'm so sorry he was injured. Maybe you can compare notes with neighbors and determine if there is a common link among the various sightings and attacks, a particular time of day or day of the week when the dog was on the loose. It might give you something to go on in tracking down its owner, if it even has one. It might be a stray.
I hope you will soon be able to take worry free walks with my buddy Falcor again, walks that don't require you to be armed with a knife and taser. You deserve that one simple pleasure after putting up with all the other crap you routinely encounter on your block.
Have a good week, dear friend Mary, if not a great one!
We think we know where the dog owner lives now. I think animal control will be called soon. I hope I will be able to take worry free walks again soon too.
DeleteThat dog did a lot of damage to your daughter's ex. It must have ingested some of the drugs around there, is now clear out of its mind and sadly needs to be put down. I hope they find the dog and owner before more damage is done.
ReplyDeleteI really hope so too.
DeleteSorry to hear about your daughter's ex's hand, how awful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWow, they need to get that dog into dog training for good. I haven't seen as many run away dogs in my neighborhood and thank God because its a bit too cold for dogs to be running about.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling it will be taken away from the owner since it attacked two people now.
DeleteYay for a nice neighbor! But that dog attack is scary. Stay safe on your walks!
ReplyDeleteI will be on the lookout for it that's for sure.
Deletethe dog will ultimately do something that can't be ignored by Animal Control. They could have called in the troops and searched for the dog in that neighborhood. Sitting on the curb does nothing. grrr
ReplyDeleteHopefully they find the dog soon.
DeleteThat's one scary dog, he definitely needs to be put down.
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteOh no that sucks... he definitely needs to be put down, it's sad but a dog like that... and if he ever gets at a kid who can't defend themself.
ReplyDeleteGlad there's a guy there who ran off the druggie. Stay safe there!!
There are so many kids around here too.
DeleteThat's awful about the aggressive dog. I think pepper spray might be a good option, Mary. That way you don't have to get close.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet someone else who doesn't want druggies all over the place!
I have some pepper spray too.
DeleteThat's scary about the dog, I agree with you, it's too dangerous. I'm glad you found someone normal around there to at least speak to.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to find some normal people.
DeleteGlad to hear you have plenty of protection. I feel bad for the dog, because it will most likely be put down and it is not it's fault. Too bad that can't put the guy down for neglect. Also, glad to hear your sight your friendly neighbor while out and about.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
It's the bad owner definitely.
DeleteIt always makes me mad when I hear about dog owners who don't do their job in regards to controlling their pet. I am sorry that your daughter's ex was injured. Stay safe, Mary!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me mad too.
DeleteSince the police is around your area. I have to wonder if the police and people in area. Is on first name bases
ReplyDeleteThey could be.
DeleteIt's amazing the dog has avoided capture
ReplyDeleteIt really is.
DeleteOh Mary... that dog situation is horrible. I didn't realize no one knew where it was coming from. I hope you find out soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd yea for another "normal" neighbor.
My week was pretty quiet. Work and chores. This week we start some home renovation work.
I hope animal control does something. The dog is too dangerous to not do anything about it,
DeleteThe dog situation is crazy. It sounds like your daughter's ex escaped by the skin of his teeth...and yet he got an awful lot of damage. It's terrifying - Cujo's got nothing on that dog. I hope it can be contained and...well...put down soon. Sad as it is, that's not an animal you can save. I hope you won't have to use that knife...👀
ReplyDeleteI hope they can find it soon.
DeleteI hope the dog's owner can be traced and the dog put down. It's obviously a permanent danger to anyone it happens to take against.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteI read posts backwards, so I'm happy to know the dog is gone now. 😌
ReplyDeleteMe too.
