This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 25 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.
This week was quiet in my neighborhood so I didn't think I would have anything to talk about.
And then...
My daughter called me from work (she works a few blocks away in another bad neighborhood) and said a man had just been stabbed right outside the doors of her job.
She said a few homeless people were outside her job and two of them started arguing and one stepped in between them and got stabbed by one of the other two. The police officer right here is putting a tourniquet to the mans arm and applying a bandage to the wound.
My daughter called 911 and the police helicopter was flying around and the police got there really fast.
This is the man who got stabbed in the arm. This police officer helped to wrap his arm up because he had a really deep 4 inch stab wound to his arm. Then the police officer helped him over to the ambulance when it got there.
The guy was telling the officer what happened as they walked to the ambulance.
The man was able to step up into the ambulance by himself. Which I would think is a good sign.
Then the ambulance took him to the hospital where he underwent surgery to close the deep stab wound he had.
Some of the people my daughter work with were able to snap a picture of the man who did the stabbing before he ran off and the police told them that they were able to catch him a little while later. The police stayed at my daughter's job for a few hours getting written statements from witnesses and the police were telling them any updates they were getting about the guy who got away while they were there getting the statements and taking pictures of the crime scene..
The high this week was 105F/40C
The low this week was 80F/26C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
Thank you to your daughter for that call - and to the police and paramedics.
ReplyDeleteThey came fast.
DeleteSo...you didn't get any of the usual excitement in your neighbourhood, but at least your daughter's workplace filled in for it 😂.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, glad the guy wasn't hurt TOO bad - but the police need to catch the stabber (except they'll probably let him go the day after...).
Oh they did catch him a little while later.
DeleteSadly, these things happen often: someone gets hurt trying to end a fight between two people.
ReplyDeleteKudos to your daughter for her positive involvement!
Thank you. I'm glad it wasn't worse.
DeleteGlad they caught the stabber. Sounds like the guy will be all right.
ReplyDeleteYes, they were able to surgically repair his arm.
DeleteGood they had witnesses
ReplyDeleteYes and everyone who saw what happened was willing to tell the police what they saw.
DeleteThat's pretty bizarre about the stabbing. lots of bad energy in the world. The person in the wheel chair struck me as someone who is a little person and reminded me of my mother.
ReplyDeleteThe woman in the wheel chair was actually the mother of the guy who got stabbed. She lives right across the street.
DeleteWow! That's a lot to have happened. Thank goodness the victim survived, wasn't stabbed in a vital area but maybe not so smart to step in the middle, during an argument between the two.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'd be reluctant to step in the middle of arguing people.
DeleteMy goodness. Glad she was there to place the call.
ReplyDeleteI am too.
DeleteYour daughter reacted real fast and that probably saved the guy from being stabbed again.
ReplyDeleteThe stabber ran off real fast too.
DeleteOh my! Never a dull moment. And 105? Hot.
ReplyDelete105 is better than 115. lol
DeleteEven though it wasn't my neighborhood, my daughter was still around drama at her store.
Oh, man. You still managed to have a lot of excitement.
ReplyDeleteI know! My daughter was texting me as it was unfolding and sending me pictures.
DeleteThat was some live show, dang!
ReplyDeleteGlad they caught him. Your daughter is always on top of the neighborhood drama!
ReplyDeleteYes she is.
DeleteA terrifying and heartbreaking situation. I'm so glad they caught the guy, wouldn't want someone that aggressive to still be walking around the area.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't either.
DeleteWow! Just when you think there will be peace and quiet you get drama like this. I'm glad no one was fatally injured and that your daughter was only a witness and not hurt in any way. So close to her, though! I hope your family stay safe and cool, Mary!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Just goes to show that craziness is all over.
DeleteGlad the witness survived and thank god, your daughter made that call.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings, Mary
Yes, everyone will be alright, eventually.
DeleteThat's so crazy. I'm glad they were able to catch the guy and that everyone that your daughter works with stayed safe throughout the situation. This heat is no joke! We've been in the 100's all week too with no sign of things cooling down anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteAugust is usually our hottest month.
DeleteI am glad the injury wasn't more serious than it was, and I am glad law enforcement caught the person who did it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he was caught too.
DeleteI don't under why people need to hurt each other.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on, and stay safe.
Probably drugs.
DeleteProbably drugs.
ReplyDeleteWow, a man being stabbed right outside her workplace, that's scary. I'm glad the man who stabbed him was caught.
ReplyDeleteI am too.
DeleteWOW! So much for a quiet week. I'm glad your daughter is safe and was able to get help to the victim so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI had a busy week last week, but honestly don't recall any of it now! LOL
Hopefully nothing like that happens again.
DeleteOh no, well at least it wasn't something bad that you keep focusing on.
