We moved into this apartment complex about 26 years ago. At that time my courtyard had a lot of these green bushes and the pine tree's were small. That's my daughter posing for a picture. lol
Taken at the same angle, this is what my courtyard looks like now. There's one pine tree instead of the two that were down at this end and none of the bushes are here anymore. I liked it better with all the bushes. There are still a few bushes around the complex here and there but nothing like it was back when we first moved in.
A bit of green about makes a lot of difference doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt does. I liked it better before.
DeleteThe greenery does make a huge difference. It looks awfully stark now, and a lot less shaded on hot days. Maybe they were worried about the greenery providing hiding places for the druggies and other pests?
ReplyDeleteAfter my late husband put in the sprinkler system with the other maintenance guy, the managers here changed so many times that they just didn't care about the upkeep of the grounds. The bushes and trees died and were just cut down. The new owner doesn't care about anything but the rent money.
DeleteWow, it’s so barren now.
ReplyDeleteIt is, I hate it.
DeleteWhat a big change. I imagine it's expensive to water bushes in the desert, which is probably why the complex gave up on them.
ReplyDeleteThe managers just didn't care about the grounds.
DeleteIt would be nice to have more plants. It cools things off, I think!
ReplyDeleteYes it was a lot more shadier back then.
DeleteIt would definitely be nice to have more greenery, especially in your hot climate!
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteA nice look back
ReplyDeleteIt looked good back then.
DeleteIt's a shame they didn't keep up with the gardening through the years.
ReplyDeleteWe've had so many managers and now a new owner that only care about the rent money and not the grounds upkeep.
DeleteBig changes over the years, for sure.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah all over the place here with the changes.
DeleteIt looks like the life in gone from the place.
ReplyDeleteOh it sure is. Its not the same at all.
DeleteChanges are always happening.
ReplyDeleteYep and not for the better.
DeleteIt looks sad and barren now :(
ReplyDeleteI know.
DeleteI agree, the shrubs make it look much better. That's a cute pic of your daughter!
ReplyDeleteIt looked beautiful back then.
ReplyDeleteYes it did.
DeleteThey need to plant more bushes! A few plants make such a big difference.
ReplyDeleteManagement doesn't care about the grounds.
DeleteA shame so many trees and bushes have been removed. The courtyard looks very bare without them.
ReplyDeleteI know, I hate it.
DeleteAt least you still have that one tree.
ReplyDeleteYeah. They cut it back so much each year it doesn't supply much shade now.
DeleteSo much prettier with all those bushes
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteGreenery can and does make a huge difference.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame you only have that one tree now.
All the best Jan
It looked so much better when we first moved in.
DeleteA little greenery can certainly go a long way in making a place feel more welcoming and alive.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, things will improve in the future.
Happy Sunday, Mary!
Yes it does
