This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 26 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 26 years here in a weekly blog post.
On Monday morning while I was outside, the Fire Truck pulled up and the firemen went inside a courtyard.
Less than a minute later they came back out and left. Why call for the fire dept. if you don't actually need them? I don't get it.

I've noticed recently that a few homeless people will go up to people getting in and out of their cars around here and ask for money, food, clothing, or if the person getting out of their vehicle wants to buy whatever they are selling. A guy on a bicycle came up to me and asked if I wanted to buy a shock collar for my dog this week. I declined. Most of the time they are selling stolen goods from stores around here.
I watched on my camera as this lady was getting out of her work truck these two homeless people quickly walked up to her and I'm guessing asked for something. Because she reached in the back of her truck pulled out water bottles, a blanket and sandwiches.
Then she took out a box of donuts from inside the truck and gave them some of those too. I thought that was really nice of her to do that.
The high this week was 107F/41C
The low this week was 74F/23C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
It's never nice being homeless, but when temperatures are extreme, it's worse.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
DeleteThat was nice of her - and she came prepared too.
ReplyDeleteShe sure did
DeleteThat was super nice. She gave them something they could use rather than just money.
ReplyDeleteYes it was.
DeleteThat was very thoughtful. Obviously that person planned in advance to have this extra food available.
ReplyDeleteSure seemed like she did.
DeleteYour continuing themes are unique and interesting.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteNice lady.
ReplyDeleteShe is.
DeleteWow, what a wild week! That lady with the donuts was so kind. And that fire truck visit? Totally weird!
ReplyDeleteShe was very kind. The fire engines and ambulances come and don't do anything, it's weird.
DeleteThat was a very nice thing that lady did. We need more nice people in the world.
ReplyDeleteYes we do.
DeleteThat was generous of her, as Alex said giving them something they could use rather than cash.
ReplyDeleteYes it was.
DeleteI once offered a homeless person soliciting at a highway offramp a bottle of water and a bag of chips. They declined...then went over to the next person and asked for money.
ReplyDeleteThat's a reed flag for sure.
DeleteGiving them something useful rather than Cash is recommended since far too many are using the Money for Substance Abuse Issues that often caused most of their plight. We're often offered Water by kind strangers while we're doing Environmental Cleanup and some try to force Money on us saying what we're doing as Volunteers has Value and they feel we are deserving of some Offerings/Donations. *LOL*
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely.
DeleteI know some people who do carry things for the homeless with them and give them out when they encounter them. That woman was prepared.
ReplyDeleteYes she was.
DeleteThat was really nice that the work lady gave them some food and water.
ReplyDeleteYes it was.
DeleteThat was nice of her, it seems she came prepared!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan

I agree.
DeleteThat was really nice of that lady to bring a bit of food and some blankets.
ReplyDeleteYes it was.
DeleteMaybe they were feeling hot, I could certainly imagine calling the firefighters when I am feeling hot LOOOOL Especially the calendar ones....
ReplyDeletelmao
DeleteI wonder what the heck that fire truck was doing. I bet the fire fighters get frustrated with calls like that.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet they do.
DeleteI am always humbled by the kindness of others! I cannot imagine a shock collar on your little dog!
ReplyDeleteI would never use a shock collar. They are awful. I'm sure he stole it and was trying to sell it for cash so he could buy drugs.
DeleteNice to help those who need help.
ReplyDeleteYes it was.
DeleteI can not begin to imagine what it is like being homeless with a high temperature of 107. I've only experienced that kind of heat maybe 10 times in my life. It's awful. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYes it is.
DeletePoor Falcor - he doesn't need a shock collar! I hope you are staying cool and the homeless are finding water and shelter.
ReplyDeleteThat was very nice of her
