Apartment Life #389

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.

I had to share this picture that a local weatherman posted on his FB page. We had a huge thunderstorm this past week and this picture was better than the ones that I took for sure. 🤣 Oh and that big ball on the left hand side that looks like it's on fire is The Sphere Las Vegas. The Sphere is huge and lit up with millions of LED's that they can change to different pictures show on the outside of it. The inside is the same way. I wanted to share a little something of where I live.

This is the picture of the storm that I took as it passed over where I live. I didn't get any rain from it but as it went away from me, it started producing rain in Henderson, NV.

On Sunday, my grandson's father came over for dinner and told me that he saw smoke pouring out of the tunnels that the homeless people stay in. So, I went outside to see what was going on and saw that there was indeed smoke pouring from the tunnels. So, I started snapping pictures. And my daughter took some pictures when the Fire department showed up. When the police got here, they questioned Jessica (The Mayor of tunnel town)  who barely made it out of the tunnels alive, and she said that Mikey (Her ex) was the one that lit fire to a bunch of chemicals down there because he was trying to kill the homeless people that were in the area down there. I talked to her on Tuesday and she said he's still on the run.

I didn't know it when I was taking pictures before the fire department got here, that I actually got a picture of Mikey and Antwon walking down the street next to all the tunnels pouring out smoke. Later on, I would find out that the police were looking for Mikey. Oh, and yes if you remember me saying in this post, that Antwon had been arrested and charged with attempted murder back in February for shooting a guy in the leg after a drug deal gone bad. Yeah, he's out of jail and back living on the streets over here. Isn't that great?

The fire department got here and they had to lower some of the firemen down in the tunnels to put the fires out. Jessica said that she and some others barely got out alive. She had soot and black stuff all over her from all the smoke.

They geared up and went down into the tunnels. They were here for about 2 hours putting the fires out. You can see how smokey it is behind the firemen. The smoke was pouring out of all the manhole covers all the way down this walkway.

Wednesday night at 11PM this homeless woman named Shasta came to my door but we were already in bed. My daughter pulled up the camera and saw her back her motorized wheelchair up and then drive right through our garden.

Her whole wheelchair is sitting in our garden here and she's pulling on the sunflowers.

That wasn't good enough so she backs out of the garden, gets out of her wheelchair and pulls more of the plants up.

My daughter called the police but they told her she would have to come down to the station and make a report for vandalism.

Then when she's satisfied that she destroyed it enough, she drives away.  We think she was mad that we didn't answer the door at 11PM because she's always asking my daughter to buy her a drink or a snack or to give her a couple of dollars. My daughter has bought her drinks in the past but you bet she won't anymore.

This is what our sunflower plants looked like the day before.

This is what they looked like the day after she drove over them. The two big stalks were pulled out of the ground and my daughter had to throw them away. She's going to plants some more sunflower seeds and hope they grow.

The high this week was 91F/32C
The low this week was 66F/18C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. Disgusting behavior by Shasta. As you say, she can forget about getting any more charity from you. I certainly wouldn't answer an unexpected knock on the door in the middle of the night.

    1. Right? I couldn't believe it when my daughter showed me the screenshots she took the night before.

  2. Shocking, how dare she do that to your sunflower. I hope it recovers. At least you have footage. We have a few cameras around the house and people don't realise! Can be funny at times!

    1. Unfortunately, we had to pull up the two big sunflowers. My camera are right in the windows, I didn't hide them. She's just too dumb to realize that she's been caught.

  3. I do realize that some of these people have mental issues and a lot of them are just doped out of their head. But it's ridiculous what they do to themselves and what they do to other people. I'm sorry they destroyed your beautiful flowers. And it's very brave of firefighters to go down into a tunnel to put out a fire that a nut case started.

    1. I think she was high and mad we didn't answer the door. It was brave of them to go down there.

  4. What a horrible person! And that those two people are still out roaming the streets is awful.
The weatherman got a great shot of that storm.

She is awful. I still can't believe she did that.

  5. That Mikey guy is crazy. I can't believe that people like him and his friend can't stay in prison where they belong. And wow, Shasta has a motorised chair, but sure is well enough to up and vandalise your home garden...

    1. They both belong in prison. She's on oxygen and has a hard time walking around now but she sure had no problem standing long enough to destroy my garden.

  6. You’d think that a Shasta Daisy could get along with sunflowers.

  7. That is just awful, Mary. Interesting that she was able to get out the wheelchair to destroy more sunflowers. What a nasty woman.

  10. So Jessica snitched on Mikey, LOL. But no joking matter that the fire came so close to harming Jessica and others. As for Daughter occasionally being so kind as to help Shata out, it’s like they say … no good deed goes unpunished.

    1. Jessica did snitch on Mikey. lol That fire was not good. I swear I was waiting for the manhole cover to start exploding off the ground because there was so much smoke. Shasta is just a nasty woman.

  12. Your poor sunflower plant! I don't understand that kind of meanness. And that tunnel fire sounded dangerous. Especially if it was chemicals burning. I hope they got everyone out.

  13. Ugh. Sorry to see the destruction to your daughter's garden. That's so sad and frustrating. That photo of the storm is incredible! I hope the people in the tunnel all made it out. It'd be nice if the police could keep the culprits in jail, rather than letting them out all the time.

  14. It's sad when someone rips plants out from a neighbor. You at least got a clip of her on your camera.

  15. The weatherman got a great picture of that storm.

What a nasty woman ... I do wonder if she may have a mental health problem?

    Stay safe Mary.

  16. I like that you said that she is the mayor of the tunnel town and I’m glad that you’re still at it policing that community. i’m still calling the police whenever I need to, and although it helps, it still needs a lot of work @theglobal digblogspot.com

    1. I'm just reporting the stuff I see around here because there always seems to be one thing or another going on.

  17. That photo taken by the weatherman is spectacular. It's such a shame you have to go through what you have to do in that apartment complex. The police must be so overwhelmed they can't deal with simple vandalism even if it's caught on camera. That fire in the tunnels - miracle that no one was killed. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  22. I love thunder and lightning storms! Shasta needs a lesson! What a way to treat someone who's been kind and generous in the past. I would make a report for sure. If I had a hose close by I'd be tempted to hose her down if she came on by again, but that probably wouldn't be a good idea.

  23. The sphere is just gorgeous, and I bet it's just something out of this world at times, Mary.
Real dark sky and a storm, goodness.
Those tunnels cause some grief I think, also the cheek of that woman pulling out the plants.

    1. Yep exactly. Even after making a report of something like this because this has happened before when her ex destroyed her garden one year. The police did nothing. Just make a report and nothing happens.

  29. The sight of rain moving across desert mountains is always amazing. And that fire could have been a real tragedy in an enclosed setting like that. I'm glad they got it out and hopefully they catch the person responsible.

    1. Mikey is still running around around here. I called 311 once and they said unless he has a warrant out for his arrest they won't come out to find him.
