This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
Just when I thought things around here couldn't get any worse...
So, this is what my apartment complex looked like last week. It was white with black trim. It looked nice. The colors complimented each other, and it just got painted recently before it was sold to the new owner.
This is what it looks like now! I now live in the Clown Motel. So white, grey and ORANGE? Omg, I hate it. Looks like a clown should live here.
So I made a meme using an actual picture of the new paint job, because of course I did.
This place will henceforth be referred to as, The Clown Motel, because, Orange? Really?
This is what my courtyard used to look like last week.
This is what it looks like today. Orange under the overhangs and mud grey walls. I hate it. No one asked me, I just live here. 0.O
Everyone around here hates the colors.
On Friday they painted all the doors white. The 24 hour notice said they would be doing the doors on Thursday but never showed up until Friday. At least the doors aren't orange.
---
Oh, and they are still replacing the decorative rock all over the property too. This huge truck came by and dumped a huge pile of rock in the alley. They really should let them finish one thing before giving them something else to do.
The high this week was 75F/23C
The low this week was 49F/9C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

This update is both hilarious and tragically surprising; I can't believe the new owners chose that bright orange, as it truly resembles a clown motel now. Do you think they are colorblind, or are they secretly trying to drive everyone away with those outrageous walls? Have a wild and happy weekend! Also, I just shared a new travel post that you are invited to read at www.melodyjacob.com.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what they were thinking.
DeleteI guess I'm glad to read that you don't like this color scheme. Because I have to say the striped effect reminds me of the very older mobile homes that when I was a kid we called them trailers. I'm not a fan of orange for any reason except in a flower. I'm sorry you have to look at this.
ReplyDeleteit looks terrible. I lived in a trailer park when I was 18.
DeleteWell, your management has pretty much been a clown show, so maybe it fits.
ReplyDelete"At least the doors aren't orange"
.....yet.
If they're going to do something like this, they should at least go all-out. I would have done it as purple and orange diagonal stripes with big pink poka-dots. At least it would discourage the druggies by giving them migraines.
That's for sure. I thought for sure the doors were going to be orange.
DeleteThey either got the paint at a discount or it was left over from a real clown motel. Why else would they go with those colors? Be glad it wasn't purple. Or neon green.
ReplyDeleteI would have preferred purple.lol
DeleteIt’s … ah … distinctive.
ReplyDeleteit is that. lol
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI could make jokes about the new color scheme, but I truly feel badly for you and the other residents. You are the ones who will be forced to look at that hideous orange color every day, and yet they gave you no choice. They should have submitted several different combos for residents' consideration and the matter should have been put to a vote. Hopefully, in time, the orange will grow on you. If not, whenever you venture outdoors, try to ignore it and focus your attention on something else that does please you, like my buddy Falcor.
I am returning to the blog world this Friday the 13th and invite you to visit if you can. I also plan to be back here again next Sunday for a second visit. Have a safe week ahead, dear friend Mary!
I know, it's awful. They don't care what we want.
DeleteAmazing what companies choose to waste money on! Orange is the most bizarre choice!
ReplyDeleteIt didn't even need to be painted yet.
DeleteYes, why the orange trim? Did they think it looked smarter or something?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea.
DeleteOh no, perhaps they were just trying to brighten it up but it hasn't worked. I hope it get another makeover soon and that the orange disappears.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope.
DeleteThat orange makes it looks like a motel. When I was teaching a new school was built. They used the school colors in tile to lines the hallways. It looked like a fast food place. Some people just have no taste at all.
ReplyDeleteI know. It's terrible.
DeleteOh my, that is quite festive!
ReplyDeletelmao
DeleteBelieve it or not, a grey, orange, and white color scheme is a thing, although like all trendy things it will soon look dated.
ReplyDeleteI hate it.
DeleteOh, dear, orange like the great leader . . .
ReplyDeleteOh no. Now that's what I'll be thinking.
DeleteHmmmm Orange and gray. NOT!!! I agree with you. The person in charge of this has no color coordination. Or maybe those colors were really inexpensive and they got a great deal. Ether way, it's not very appealing.
ReplyDeleteIt's terrible.
DeleteClown motel, oh well
ReplyDeleteYep. lol
DeleteDang, maybe the new owner is colorblind!
ReplyDeleteThey have to be. This is ridiculous.
DeleteI am not a fan of the orange either! What were they thinking?!!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea.
DeleteIt might grow on you Mary. I wonder why they decided on that colour? Though Clown Motel gave me a chuckle! :-D
ReplyDeletelol I'm glad you got a chuckle out of it.
DeleteAs much as I love the new, unofficial, name of your apartment complex, I can't help but think: maybe they could help improve the neighborhood first in all the other ways it needs improvement? Unless, orange stripes have a magical property that does that. But then, you wouldn't have an interesting apartment life meme. So now, let's wait until the rent increase when your lease expires....someone has to pay for that rock and paint, after all! Sigh...Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOh I fully expect the rent to increase.
DeleteSorry about those colouir schemes!
ReplyDeleteSo am I.
DeleteI like the white and grey, but the orange is a bit much - a softer peach would have been better. Orange you glad the doors aren't orange? haha!
ReplyDeleteI hope the week slows down a bit and you have a good one.
I sure hope so too.
DeleteYeah, that orange is not attractive. Definitely looks like a clownish color.
ReplyDeleteYeah it does.
DeleteThere's always something happening in your neck of the woods! I'm not a fan of the orange either.
ReplyDeleteAlways something happening.
DeleteI'm sorry, but I like the orange. At least in the photographs. I assume it's awful in person.
ReplyDeleteIt is awful in person.
DeleteGuess they the new owners wanted to brighten up with orange. Not a fan of orange on buildings, Mary.
ReplyDeleteI'm not either.
DeleteNot a fan of orange. Happy Monday.
ReplyDeletersrue.blogspot.com
Thank you.
DeleteEek.. at least they are painting and refreshing the property even if with bad taste.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they are doing stuff.
DeleteOrange, maybe they're supporters of the president. As for the "Clown Motel," do you know there is one in Tonopah. I stayed there once, in the mid-90s. It's nothing to write home about and I assume some who have phobias about clowns would freak out.
ReplyDeleteYes, my brother stayed at the Clown Motel once.
DeleteOf all the colors in the universe someone looked at that Clown orange and thought "yep, this is the one" lol
ReplyDeleteRight? It's hideous.
DeleteOrange isn't the great color to us. It's so bright.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's awful.
DeleteThe circus will be the next thing showing up.
ReplyDeleteOh, the circus is already here. lol
DeleteAt least the doors aren't orange!!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thank goodness.
DeleteYeah, I don't blame you for going meme all over it. Guess you win when people compare rental home horror colors. :)
ReplyDeletelmao There are worse ones than this I'm sure.
