While outside with Falcor one day last month I saw this, I don't even know what to call it...wall of cloud. My picture doesn't even show how long it was. It went so far to the left that only the mountain range that way obscured it.
The thing is, this is a more accurate picture of what I saw. These clouds were gigantic! They went from the ground behind the mountains there to where they stopped higher up. I just found it creepy cool.
A few days later we had some rainy days and the clouds were dark.
I love these cold, dark, overcast days.
The cloud wall in the first two pictures looks almost like an oncoming giant wave. Almost scary.
ReplyDeleteThe cool overcast days must be a relief after the heat and glare of summer.
It was almost scary when I saw it. So creepy cool.
DeleteLike a wall of water coming at you.
ReplyDeleteYeah but it was moving away from us. Very cool looking though.
DeleteThe wall of cloud is amazing. I don't think I've ever seen that before. 😯
ReplyDeleteIt was a first for me as well.
DeleteI’ve seen a wall cloud like that just a few times and it’s amazing. It looked like mountains to me, which we have none of here, so it was cool!
ReplyDeleteFirst time I've seen that but it was cool.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteHaving you as a friend is like being best buds with Wednesday Addams! :) I love how you see beauty and find comfort in dark, cloudy and rainy days. So do I! One of the most meaningful and memorable experiences I ever had took place while vacationing at the seashore. One full day was a complete wash-out - torrential rain from sunup to sundown. The relentless rain prevented me from doing the typical beach and boardwalk activities I was looking forward to. Forced to sit and watch the rain pelting down, I was at first bitterly disappointed. However, after a while, I gave in to it and started to groove on it. My senses came alive. I started noticing birds feeding at the water's edge, enjoying the rainy day. I welcomed the chance to slow down the pace of life and spend hours observing, reflecting and meditating. The rain had a cleansing effect on me that day 40 years ago. I will always remember it and be grateful for it.
That cloud deck is spectacular, and I'm glad your area got some moisture.
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Mary!
Oh my goodness, Shady you are too funny.
DeleteThat does sound like a wonderful day. I'm glad you were able to experience that and appreciate it.
Shady's comment above cracked me up (Wednesday Addams LOL). The wall of clouds made me think of Under the Dome in a way...
ReplyDeleteHe made me laugh too. Yeah I could see that.
DeleteI do like the ambiance of a dark day.
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteWow. I never, ever tire of skyscapes - and this is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteAlways love how clouds can really portray so much and still be so innocent looking haha
ReplyDeleteRight? Isn't that fun to see?
Deletelove those pics
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI love moody clouds like these. The long stretch of cloud is really cool!
ReplyDeleteI really like them too.

ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThat is wild. I love how clouds can look. .
ReplyDeleteIt looked wild.
DeleteThanks for sharing these pictures...
ReplyDeleteHappy December.
All the best Jan
You're welcome.
DeleteI love cloudy, rainy days too!
ReplyDeleteThey are such good days.
DeleteCan I trade you? Really missing the sunshine right now as we have had nothing but dark cloudy days lately.
ReplyDeleteI love dark days.
DeleteThose sure were some pretty amazing clouds!
ReplyDeleteI thought so too.
DeleteLike a huge tidal wave. Very cool! Glad you got some moisture.
ReplyDeleteIt did look like a big tidal wave.
DeleteWe had plenty of sunshine today but very cold air
ReplyDeleteIt has been a lot of cooler here too.
DeleteOh wow, that is wild! I didn't even realize it was a wall of cloud at first, I thought it was just the line where the sun was hitting.
ReplyDeleteThat wall of clouds was so big.
DeleteWe have lots of cloudy rainy days but they are each different and show their own moods, dark, light. Sometimes we have to plan our day in between showers to get to the store without getting soaked. :) Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe have rain so rarely that I enjoy it when we do have it.
DeleteClouds are so amazing and cool and beautiful, but so hard to capture in a two-dimension photo. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt really is especially with my crappy camera. lol
DeleteThese look really cool! My husband is a Ham Radio Operator and is always noticing clouds and anything that has to do with weather.
ReplyDeleteOh that's very cool.
DeleteThose days must sure be different
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have such days.
