About 3 weeks ago my daughter, her ex and their son went hiking out at Red Rock when my grandson turned 10. Red Rock is only about a 30 minute drive from here in Las Vegas so it's not too far away to get out of the city. And in the Winter months it's nice for hiking and climbing.
So I thought I would share a few pictures she took. While I like Mount Charleston better because of all the tree's and greenery, Red Rock has its own beauty and sometimes you even find some incredible spots.
Like this one. There was this depression in the rock that had collected the rain water from a few days earlier and it just looked so cool. What a great find.
That looks like some spectacular scenery.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved hiking out there.
DeleteWhat an amazing place. Thank you both.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter took some great pictures on her adventure to Red Rock Canyon with her ex and your grandson. I just now read that the sandstone walls in the National Conservation Area are up to 3,000 feet high. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Mary!
I'm glad you liked the pictures.
DeleteThat is stunning. Nothing more beautiful than desert mountains and rocks.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteWe’ve gone a few times and loved it. Such great scenery.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's so beautiful.
DeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteLooks like a great place to visit. One of the few places that I haven't visited when I was in Vegas.
ReplyDeleteIf you come to Vegas again, be sure to visit here.
DeleteI like Red Rocks. There is a tough climb that provides an incredible view of Vegas. I also like Valley of Fire, and hiking the canyons along the Colorado River below the dam where there are a lot of hot springs. Both need to be done in winter.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely in Winter. To hot any other time.
DeleteVery beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWhat a beautiful, serene place.
ReplyDeleteI used to love hiking around here because of this kind of scenery.
DeleteThis is beautiful! I'd love to go hiking here!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a nice place to hike.
DeleteAmazing photos! Southern Utah has a lot of red rock, too, and I just love it. :D
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents were from Lehi Utah and we used to go there every Summer. It was a nice place.
DeleteYes, a wonderful setting for a birthday hike. That pool in the rock is very cool.
ReplyDeleteI love that they found a spot that had some pooled water like that too.
DeleteThose are terrific photos. That first one looks like one the Mars Rover sent home, cool.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you. I can totally see that in that picture now.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your Grandson. Now in the double digits! Stunning pictures. Looks like an excellent adventure!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI like the last photo the best. Happy Birthday to your Grandson,
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thank you.
DeleteWhat an amazing place to hike!
ReplyDeleteLove the rugged vistas.
Hugs and blessings, Mary.
Thank you. I used to love going for a hike there back when my knees let me. lol
DeleteIt's so nice out there in the Winter time.
ReplyDeleteThose are great pictures! I don't hike but that looks like a great place to if you do.
ReplyDeleteI used to like to hike before my knees got really bad.
DeleteThose are some great pictures! Looks like a nice place to visit.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteOooh, what a gorgeous spot. I think I'd like it more there than in the greenery. Pic N°3 is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Ken and I used to go up there all the time when our daughter was little, We even buried some of the hamsters we had up there.
