Recipe: Canned Biscuit Donut Holes
Have you ever wanted something sweet late late at night and you have nothing but it's too late to find a donut shop open and all the stories are closed? Yeah? Me too. I saw this homemade donut hole recipe a few months back on Fb and so when I bought a can of biscuits, I thought I'd try it.
You will need:
1 can of Grands Buttermilk biscuits. The smaller cheaper biscuits just won't work for this recipe.
oil
sugar
cocoa powder
powdered sugar
cinnamon
vanilla extract
Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces and roll into balls. Fry in about 1 inch of oil. Turn so that all sides get golden brown. They fry fast so it only takes 2-3 minutes. Let cool and then dip into sauces.
Dipping sauce recipes:
Cinnamon Sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar and a tsp. cinnamon. Mix thoroughly and roll donut holes into mixture.
Glaze
1/2 cup Powdered sugar
1 Tbsp milk
1tsp vanilla extract
Mix thoroughly. If too thick add 1/2 tsp milk at a time until desired consistency. Roll donuts in mixture and set on plate to harden.
Cinnamon Powdered sugar
1/2 powdered sugar
1tsp ground cinnamon
Mix thoroughly. Roll donuts in mixture.
Chocolate Glaze
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. Cocoa powder
2 TBSP. milk
Mix thoroughly until cocoa powder is completely mixed in. Roll donuts into mixture. Put donuts on plate.
Keep all donuts in refrigerator until eaten.
They came out really good. 2 of Ken's friends came over right after they were done and Ken gave them a couple. They were a big hit. They sure didn't last long. lol
Does this sound like something you would make?

What a great idea. Sigh .. I want some donuts now at 1am.
ReplyDeletelol they came out really good. Hope you get a chance to try them.
DeleteWe've done this just making a regular donut and one hole out of each biscuit. Very yummy. And now at 4am I'm up and hungry. lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea too. Probably a little less work too.
DeleteI've seen this idea, but wondered if it seemed like a biscuit consistency?
ReplyDeleteNo, not really a biscuit consistency. That's why you have to use Homestyle or buttermilk style and not the flaky layers style biscuits. That way it just has a dough consistency and not a flaky biscuit consistency.
DeleteNever seen them like that before
ReplyDeleteThey were so good.
DeleteI need to try these. They sound really yummy.

They turned out really good.
DeleteMy father used to make me these when I was a little girl, except a little different. I loved them, and I always wanted to make them. But I always get sidetracked and never looked up the recipe. So, now I know! Haha!
ReplyDeleteOh good! I hope you get a chance to make them.
DeleteYou donut temptress, you! This sounds easy and yummy, thanks, Mary!
ReplyDeletelol They are easy. Hope you get a chance to try them.
DeleteThese look so good! I can't wait to try them, even though I'm hopeless at baking. I'd probably burn water given half the chance.
ReplyDeletePractice makes prefect.
DeleteOMG! Looks and sounds so yummy! I need to try this!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like them, they were a big hit here.
DeleteLooks good but I wouldn't make it because I'd be tempted to eat them all and that wouldn't be good....
ReplyDeleteI shared them with 3 other people so I didn't eat too many. lol
DeleteYum! These sound very good and easy to make. I would definitely give these a try if they sold biscuits here.
ReplyDeleteNo canned biscuits? It's so interesting to find out what things aren't available in other places.
Deleteoh, that looks too good!
ReplyDeleteIt was a big hit.
