Book Review: Best Laid Stones by Kelly Apple
Book Description
Heading into the wilds of Vane’s childhood home sounds all fine and dandy, but Cin has a few reservations. Not about Vane’s plan to visit his old nest, but about Cin being able to properly navigate her way there while her mate and new gargoyle brother are in their daylight sleep.
But things happen for a reason and an unexpected roadside visitor changes everything for Vane and Cin.
Gods speak, curses might be broken, and a world of untapped potential is at their fingertips.
Change is coming and Vane and Cin are on the edge of the wave bringing it in.
Warning: This book contains a berserker-crazed gargoyle who REALLY wants to show his lady what he’s made of. If the forest is rockin’, don’t come knockin’!
My Review
I've only read two books in this series so far but when I saw that this novella was free I got it. I probably should have read the other books before this one first but I was able to follow what happened in this book just fine.
Cin is driving with her mate and another gargoyle in the car. Vane is her mate and he and the other gargoyle are in their stone form when she pulls over to the side of the road for a break. She's driving through the mountains and not sure where she is but when she steps out of the car, she hears a loud scream and then is kidnapped by a female bigfoot who needs her help.
Later Vane is visited by a very old shifter who bestows gifts on him because Cin's love for Vane called to him. I really like the gargoyle's in this series so this novella just makes me want to read more of the books and see what happens next.
This book is short, only 42 pages but I really enjoyed this novella.
I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
