8:02 PM- Our daughter goes outside to see if anyone is screaming or to see if anyone is outside. She watches the people who live in #7 (The drug apartment) leave their apartment really fast and get in their car and leave.

Apartment Life #219
This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 21 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 21 years here in a weekly blog post.
Last week early Sunday morning my daughter was sitting outside in the chair we have right outside our apartment door. It was around 1am and she said a guy walked up to the drug apartment a few doors down from us and started knocking on the door. When he got no answer, he kicked the door in. Within seconds she heard 2 gunshots and the guy came out and walked away. She didn't hear any screaming and within a few minutes people were coming and going from that apartment apparently to get their drugs so she didn't feel the need to call the police. I didn't hear about it until later that morning which is why it didn't get posted on last Sunday's post.
There have been a lot of homeless people around my apartment complex for the last few weeks. They leave big piles of trash all over the sidewalks everyday. That grocery cart on the left side is filled with trash from them. That chain link fence in the middle is the only thing that separates my apartment complex from the sidewalk on the other side but there's a huge hole in the fence down by our trash can that people use to walk through to get from our complex to the sidewalk on the other side.
----
Friday night was insane. (And yes, the drug apartment that I talked about above is the same one I am talking about below Just on different days. And they live in apartment 7 and I'm in #3)
8:00 PM- We heard 2 gunshots that sounded very close.
8:02 PM- Our daughter goes outside to see if anyone is screaming or to see if anyone is outside. She watches the people who live in #7 (The drug apartment) leave their apartment really fast and get in their car and leave.
8:10 PM The police show up and are all over my courtyard and on the street. They stood around #7's apartment with their guns drawn for about 15 minutes.
8:30 PM- A police car parks in the bike path next to my building, opens their doors, shines a light on #7's door and starts shouting on their loudspeaker for the occupants in #7 to come out with their hands up. This goes on for about 30 minutes. Then they get the K9 out and threaten to send in the K9. My daughter went on FB live and recorded some of it which you can watch here.
9:00 PM- My daughter calls 911 to give them information about seeing the people in that apartment leave. The police must have got other info that no one was in the apartment because they started leaving.
9:15 PM- Three police officers knock on my door and ask to speak to my daughter. She tells them what she saw and I tell them that we all heard two gunshots. The police leave and say they'll be back if they have more questions.
11:00 PM- The police knock on my door and a detective asks my daughter if she'll do a recorded interview of what she saw, so she goes out to the police car and does that. While she's there another officer comes over to talk with the officer who is interviewing her and says, "The victim is ready to go home." My daughter sees one of the druggies that is usually at the drug apartment but can't tell if he is hurt and they escort him away.
I don't think anyone actually got shot because there was no crime tape outside the door and The CSI's never showed up to collect evidence. They never even went inside the apartment and the people who live there haven't been back since. I don't know if they will come back. I'll let you know next week if they did.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

I am glad that no-one seems to have been seriously hurt - but they don't seem like the right neighbours for you. With any luck they won't be back.
ReplyDeleteI hope not but they probably will be.
DeleteThat is crazy! Tell your daughter she shouldn't be outside your apartment at night, either.
ReplyDeleteI did but she's 29 and doesn't listen to me anymore. lol
DeleteI can’t even with that mess, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI know.
DeleteMaybe I'm being naive, what with all the proofs we've been having of cops behaving badly...but can't anything be done to rid your place from drug dealers and such? It's not like they're being sneaky about what they do.
ReplyDeleteIf management cared enough to do so then yes, but all they care about is having the apartment rented and getting their rent money. I've actually complained about the drug apartment to 3 different managers and they just didn't care.
Delete😟
DeleteThat is crazy and so scary being that close to you! I hope they get locked up so you don't have to deal with it anymore. Be careful!!
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice but I highly doubt that will happen.
DeleteDang, that's pretty scary and we hope those druggies are gone for good.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too but I doubt it.
DeleteI wonder if the cheap tickets are bringing more people to Nevada. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteCheap tickets? Rent here is pretty high which is why we haven't moved. I can't find another place for the cheap rent we pay here.
DeleteGun shots! That's scary. I'm glad you and your family are okay.
ReplyDeleteIt was scary. Thank you.
DeleteIt's as if you live in an action movie, with gun shots, police, drug addicts.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who lives in a middle-eastern problematic country, I find it hard to believe that big, milk and honey America, has such reality as described in your post.
It happens all over America everyday. The gangs, the drug addicts, the alcoholics who get drunk and start fights, the people who are just out to start trouble. We have rapists, pedophiles, serial killers and all sorts of other crazy people walking the streets here. it's not all milk and honey. That's just a pipe dream.
DeleteOmg! That is so scary! I'm glad that the gunshots didn't actually hit anyone. Stay safe, Mary!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I will try.
DeleteYou're right, Friday night was insane! The whole drug-dealing scenario has got totally out of control, but anyone who tries to clean it up is in for trouble as the dealers can be utterly ruthless in protecting their business.
ReplyDeleteBritain is no land of milk and honey either, despite what so many asylum seekers and migrants have been led to believe.
If only we had some managers that would actually care and do something.
DeleteCrazy times especially with the gunshots. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteI will try.
DeleteScary. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I will try.
Deleteoh no....that sounds SO scary. So relieved that you and your family are safe.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThank goodness everyone is doing great, but it still sounds like a scary situation. Sending hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteIt was crazy. The woman is back but her boyfriend isn't.
DeleteWow that is crazy. You guys stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWe will try.
DeleteHave you ever thought about...moving? Gracious.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. But I can't find another apartment that isn't in a worst neighborhood for the amount of money we pay here.
Deletewow...that is super scary
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
It was scary.
DeleteI had seen on Twitter about the incident you mentioned with the gunshots and the police coming. So scary! I am glad it appears no one was hurt. I hope they don't come back for your sake, but what are the chances? So frustrating. Take care! My best to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteShe's back today but her boyfriend hasn't been around. Right back to selling drugs though.
DeleteEver consider moving?
ReplyDeleteEveryday but I don't have the money to move and can't find another place that's as cheap as this place and not in a worse neighborhood.
DeleteI do wonder
ReplyDeleteOh the female is already back now.
DeleteHoly crap! That's insane! Fingers crossed there's no more shooting! Hope you all stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI hope there's no more shooting too.
DeleteWow--so scary! I think it's crazy that you live in a place that's so dangerous that it doesn't even seem worth calling the police if gunshots are heard and no one is screaming or anything!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I know. I hear gunshots so often that I just ignore it most times.
DeleteWhat a complete nightmare to be going through. That place sounds like a war zone and it must be so frustrating that nobody is doing anything to stop the drug dealing. It just takes a few bad elements though.
ReplyDeleteI know. It's just insane.
