This past Sunday afternoon I walked past my bedroom window while walking Falcor and saw spots on the wall by my bedroom window. I got closer and was just shocked.
There were so many roaches, flying roaches, water bugs and who knows what else on the wall and all around my bedroom window because once again the raw sewage was leaking out of the overflow.
I went out there with the bug spray and there were so many more hiding near my window than I thought there was. I used damn near an entire bottle of raid on their asses. There are about 200 dead bugs out there after I was done. I sprayed a big one and it FLEW at me. I almost tripped and fell down getting away from it.
My neighbor was in her car with her husband and when I was walking back she and her husband were laughing their butts off at me. LOL
I felt like I was starring in a Horror movie that I never auditioned for...It's a Bug's Life: Horror Edition!
I kept checking to make sure more weren't coming. I was so completely disgusted. And of course it was on A Sunday so I couldn't even call maintenance. And the tenant portal is down for updates so I couldn't make a work order for the raw sewage leaking all over the place.
The video isn't great so here's some pictures in case you couldn't make out what was on the video.
As I walked by I just saw a bunch of little dark spots on the wall near my bedroom window. I didn't realize they were roaches, water bugs and flying roaches until I got closer. And there were so many more on the ground than on the wall.
All those black spots right under my window sill were roaches from the sewer. I used almost the entire can of Raid killing all of these damn bugs. There were so many more hiding around my air conditioner that I didn't see until I started spraying and the ones on the ground started crawling frantically as the bug spray drifted down on them.
If you couldn't make this out in the video. There are a bunch of them on top of the cap to the pipe and around the pipe on the ground. Believe me, I didn't want to be out there doing this but I'm the only one here to do it so just call me The Terminator.
Well, that's enough for this week. Ugh
The high this week was 75F/23C
The low this week was 48F/8C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
Eeeuw. It is about time your sewerage issues were fixed for once and for all.
ReplyDeleteI don't see that ever happening.
DeleteDisgusting. Unfortunately spraying probably won't help for long. They're being attracted by the smell, so more will just keep coming until the sewage leak is fixed.
ReplyDeleteMaintenance came out that night and the next day and unclogged the pipe. The bugs haven't come back.
DeleteJudging by the number of them, this has definitely to do with the leakage.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely.
DeleteThat is indeed disgusting. One more reason to move far, far away from that place.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could,
DeleteStarring in horror movies that you never auditioned for is never fun.
ReplyDeleteNo it's not.
DeleteThat is horrific!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty bad.
DeleteI hope this can be fixed soon how awful.
ReplyDeleteMaintenance came out and fixed the clogged pipe that night.
DeleteI so hate bugs. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteIf you get yet another temporary fix, I'll suspect your maintenance is related to our guy. Good luck!
ReplyDeletelol It's all temporary fixes around here.
DeleteAll those bugs would totally freak me out. I'm glad none of them got inside your apartment. And good thing you had a can of bug spray! I hope there isn't a horrifying bug sequel in your future.
ReplyDeleteI hope not either. This is the first time that I've seen bugs when the pipe overflows. I hope it doesn't happen again.
DeleteI really hope that the maintenance will take care of the bug issue asap for you and also get that drain fix.
ReplyDeleteI had to take care of the bugs myself. Maintenance cleared the pipe though and they haven't come back.
DeleteUgh bugs are the worst. I don't know why they exist
ReplyDeleteRight? It was awful.
DeleteOMG! That is a complete nightmare! Were you able to get a hold of anyone from maintenence?
ReplyDeleteSomeone did because they came out and unclogged the pipe that night.
DeleteYep, that IS pretty much a really bad movie, scary!
ReplyDeleteYes it really was.
DeleteYou know, those bugs may outlive all of us. Supposedly, roaches are more immune to radiation, so they may be it after we blow up the world. I am sure that wasn't what you wanted to hear :)
ReplyDeleteThe raid sure took them out though. lol
DeleteHow awful! I hate bugs! I hope your maintenance gets your sewer pipe sorted!
ReplyDeleteThey did, late that night and into the next day.
DeleteWhat a shock, discovering so many bugs on the loose. Hopefully you can get the overflow fixed fairly quickly.
ReplyDeleteThey did. it took most of the next day but they got it fixed.
DeleteOh no! I hope that they get that fixed quickly.
ReplyDeleteThey did, that night and into the next day.
DeleteOh no! Dreadful!
ReplyDeleteHope it was fixed satisfactorily.
All the best Jan
It did get fixed.
DeleteI am sorry you had to deal with that, Mary! I would probably used the entire can and then some on them.
ReplyDeleteI was willing to do just that as well.
DeleteUgh I hate bugs
ReplyDeleteMe too.
