Review: Ice Ball Maker by DenadaDenada

When I first saw these ice ball molds, I was so interested in having a set for myself and I'm really glad that I did. I found these ice ball molds really easy to use. Just put the two halves together and fill with distilled or boiled water because if you use regular tap water the ice balls will come out cloudy, not that it mattered to me I still loved them.

One thing I do recommend is to not fill all the way to the top because ice expands and some will leak out of the holes in the top. So leave about 1/2 an inch of space at the top with no water and the ice will expand to fill the molds.

I read the recipes that came with the box and plan on trying a few of them. I think colored ice balls sounds really fun and plan on trying to do some of those as well.

I don't drink alcohol but I love to make iced coffee at home. So I brewed up a little extra and poured my coffee into the ice ball molds and used that as the ice in my iced coffee. It's great because it looks fabulous and when it melts it won't water down my iced coffee because it is iced coffee!

The first time I made the ice balls, I filled the molds too much which is why my ice balls look like they have nipples. lol

  1. Your iced coffee idea sounds good and I'm amazed there are actually ice-ball recipes! Great for people who like sucking balls, I suppose!

  2. Those are really cool. The most interesting ice cube trays I have are in the shape of Winnie-the-Pooh characters, so you can have an Eeyore, Piglet or Pooh Bear in your chilled drink. The ice balls look a lot more mature, hehe, especially with nipples on them ;-)

  3. Wait--you put the liquid inside the ice ball? Then how do you hold it? Isn't it really cold?

  6. Gorilla- You made me laugh out loud.

Click- lol I could rename them nipple balls.

Stephanie- No you are essentially making a round ice cube that you put in drinks. The mold is where you put the liquid and it freezes into a ice ball.

Pat- I bet cats would have a ball with these. See what I did there?

Adam- Thanks for coming by. :)

  7. I've never used ice molds, but I like your idea of filling them with other liquids so the melt doesn't water stuff down.

  8. Huh. I don't know that I'd use them on a regular basis--that's a lot of work for a cup of ice--but would be fun at a party for something a little different :)
