Apartment Life #117
This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
The other day Ken and I heard a lot of yelling going on across the street but we didn't see anyone. So we waited to see what would happen and about 15 minutes later 2 police cars parked across the street. The police got out and went into the courtyard over there and we could hear a lot of loud yelling.
A few minutes later 2 people follow the police back out to their cars and the two people are standing in front of the police car in the back. The police had the guy in handcuffs for a few minutes and then took them off and they went back in their courtyard and the police left. I think it was just an argument between some of the people that live over there but I'm not sure. I took the pictures from my bedroom window.
_____
On Friday night At 11:55pm I started hearing shouting and arguing outside my bedroom window. That went on for about 15-20 minutes, I think there was a big party at one of the apartments across the street. Then at 12:15pm 7-10 gunshots right outside our bedroom window in the street. We both got up in time to see two people shooting at each other. One guy was in a car speeding off while another guy was standing in the street shooting at the car. The car drove off really fast and then 12-15 people came running from the courtyards across the street and got into about 7 different cars and sped away really fast. Another guy was standing in the street and a gun fell out of his hand and into the street but he picked it up and got in a car and left. At 12:19pm we saw the first police car drive by but by that time everyone was gone. 2 more police cars showed up and drove around my street and in the back alley across the street but after about 15 minutes they took off because no one was outside. At 1am people who live around here started coming back and parking on the street and going back to apartments across the street . I don't know if anyone in the first car that sped off got shot or not but they never came back. That was a close one, those shots took place on the street right outside my bedroom window.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Oh good heavens. Waking up to gunshots has to be a terrible experience. I'm glad you're safe. How crazy, though. Ughhhhhh.
ReplyDeleteIt's not even the first time its happened. But yeah, it was kinda scary.
DeleteThat would do my head in. Big time. I am glad that you are safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Thankfully stuff like that doesn't happen too often.
DeleteThat neighborhood you live in sounds like a nightmare. You should move someplace more quiet and peaceful, like Syria.
ReplyDeletelol I know, it's crazy.
DeleteHow frightening AND aggravating that the police were so late. You never get a moment's peace!
ReplyDeleteTo give them credit, it only took 4 minutes for the police to show up. People just jumped into their cars so fast and got out of here. Unless the police had been here when it happened they never would have caught them.
DeletePolice and Law are impotent, so more neighborhoods will resemble yours. Nowhere to move to.
ReplyDeleteRent is so high in my city that we haven't found a place that we can afford other than this one.
DeleteThat is way too close for comfort.
ReplyDeleteIt really was.
Deleteoh boy.....that is kinda crazy. I had a neighborhood like that though, never really felt safe and secure. So I can relate. Hope change happens soon for you and the police will be more proactive.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteDang, that's really scary and a lot worse that fireworks.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was scary.
DeleteI don't know how you start there. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWe do the best we can.
DeleteOmg Mary! Gunshots is taking your apartment complex crazy to a whole new level! I'd be terrified.
ReplyDeleteYeah it did me too but we're safe and I haven't seen those people around here since then so it shouldn't happen again...hopefully.
DeleteWow, that's way too close for comfort. It's crazy, I feel bad for everyone who lives in that neighborhood. Obviously no one has any respect for the people who live there. Stay safe and hopefully you'll have a better week.
ReplyDeleteIt was outsiders that came in for a party across the street so hopefully it won't happen again. But yeah, no respect at all.
DeleteGun shots? That's scary! Glad you guys are okay.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yeah, it's not the first time it's happened around here.
DeleteSeven to ten gunshots outside your bedroom window - that's pretty scary. Some sort of drugs feud, I guess? I once had a bedsit with a window right next to the pavement (sidewalk) and I was always afraid someone would smash the window. But gunshots - that's a whole different level of danger.
ReplyDeleteIt probably was a drug deal gone bad. I don't like having the window right next to my bed either.
DeleteSuch a scary place
ReplyDeleteIt sure can be at times.
DeleteWow, that is one way to stay awake. Rather too close for comfort.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was way too close.
DeleteYikes gunshots outside your window- that's too close for comfort.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was.
DeleteLove that you can still appreciate a good palm tree amongst the drama and police (just sayin) sorry to hear about what's happening though.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I take a lot of the pictures from my bedroom window and the palm tree's are in the way. lol
DeleteThat's scary to have that many shots fired. I'm glad you are okay.
ReplyDeletewww.thepulpitandthepen.com
Thank you.
DeleteThat is really scary, Mary! I hope that this week is calm for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is too.
DeleteI was driving around 4 in the morning today (don't ask) and I saw 4 cars pulled over on the same stretch of highway. Either they were being really bad or the police department has a budget crisis.
ReplyDeleteWow, yeah they were probably trying to make their quota.
DeleteOh my goodness, that would be so scary. Right outside your window too. You need to demand the management chuck those people out or, at least, give everybody else bulletproof windows
ReplyDeleteI don't think that most of them live here. I think they were here for a party across the street.
DeleteNo other words can be said at my PC. Good heavens! Put these snippets of hell into a shot story book.
ReplyDeleteI might one day.
DeleteThat sounds so scary. I really do worry about you living there with all this crap going on all the time. I agree with Stephanie Jane-you all need bulletproof windows.
ReplyDeleteThank you. That would be nice.
DeleteMan you sure get put through the wringer!
ReplyDeleteThis place is in a bad neighborhood but the rent is the cheapest we can find in Vegas right now so we're kinda stuck.
DeleteThat is absolutely terrifying. I would not be able to sleep after hearing gunshots outside my bedroom window. Glad you are safe!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I had a hard time sleeping that night.
