Apartment Life #371
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 26 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 26 years here in a weekly blog post.
On Monday I saw the Fire Truck leaving from my neighborhood. I smelled smoke but didn't see any so I thought it must have been a small fire somewhere.
As Falcor and I were walking down the street later, I started smelling smoke more and started looking around and saw this. The homeless must have set fire to a bunch of trash right here by the power boxes.
I call them power boxes but each box has different electrical equipment inside them. Some down the street have a bunch of telephone wires while other have traffic light equipment and some have cable equipment. But you can see the scorch marks on the side of the power box there and a bunch of burnt material on the ground.
The high this week was 104F/40C
The low this week was 72F/22C
It's starting to heat up.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Hopefully the fire was extinguished before any damage was done.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like it caused any damage.
DeleteGlad this was small and nothing to worry your home with. Funny but here we now have smoke in our air from Canadian fires hundreds of miles north and west. The smoke is making for a beautiful sky this morn, as we finally would have clear sky if not this. I'd take photos but we have so many trees in the yard you only see glimpses of this sunrise.
ReplyDeleteI heard about those fires.
DeleteI am glad the fire was taken care of, that is scary people are setting fires on purpose. Our temps are on the cool side. Take care, Happy Sunday! Have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteIt's always scary when people set fires where they shouldn't be.
DeleteSlow week but your area needs that. Those boxes ever catch fire, it will be one hell of an explosion.
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm surprised that they haven't blown one up before now.
DeleteIt's a hard life, living on the streets.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it is.
DeleteJust what you need in the desert. SMH
ReplyDeleteRight?
DeleteOMG, 40C. Maybe it's not a huge deal for LV, but it sounds horrible!
ReplyDeleteSetting things on fire next to power boxes...I hope their content is well protected...
Oh it's a huge deal. Too hot. Looks like it didn't cause any damage.
DeleteNot a great place to start a fire. Glad no real damage was done.
ReplyDeleteCould have been a lot worse.
DeleteI think the fire could have been a huge issue if it hadn't been caught in time.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right
DeleteGlad the fire was contained.
ReplyDeleteYes it is.
DeleteI'm glad they put the fire out so that it didn't spread. We have a lot of problems around these parts with the Homeless setting fires and so the City and County have had to cut a lot of Trees down to discourage the unhoused camping under them and setting them on fire accidentally. Fires tend to spread quickly if they have sufficient fuel and the Southwest lately has been on fire a LOT and thousands of Acres burnt.
ReplyDeleteNot a lot in the area to burn. Lots of rocks around here and that's about it except for the apartment buildings. Not a lot of trees in that area.
DeleteI suppose some people think that setting fire to a pile of trash is just "a bit of a laugh".
ReplyDeleteThey were probably tryin to cook something.
DeleteSounds like it was a quiet week. Glad the fire was not an issue for you.
ReplyDeleteIt was quiet for once.
Delete40C is living hell, are the nights hellish too? We have crossed 30C today and the night won't go below 20C which is already too much for me.
ReplyDeleteRight now the over night lows are around 77F or 25C. But soon the over night lows will be 37C.
DeleteWhaaaaaat? 37C at night??? OMG that is unholy, inhuman and sick, how is life even able there with such temps? We had some factories working at night last summer when daily temps were over 40C, but at least it went below 25C at night. It is 23C right now in my house and I am about to get up from my chair and turn the AC on lol
DeleteYeah the overnight low is always really high when we get in the middle of Summer. We only survive because we have Air conditioners. So many stores are open 24/7 so I can do the grocery shopping at 10PM after the sun is down. It's still hot but at least the sun isn't raining down on my head boiling my brain. LOL
DeleteThat is concerning near whatever boxes those are.
ReplyDeleteIt's some kind of electrical boxes. It would be bad if they caught fore for sure.
DeleteYou are warming up. Good thing the fire was put out.
ReplyDeleteVery soon here the temps are going to be much hotter.
DeleteOh boy, someone is always doing something they shouldn't.
ReplyDeleteSure seems that way.
DeleteHaving a fire near those boxes could be a fatal mistake. Glad it was contained.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they caught it too.
DeleteHappy to hear the fires didn't damage anything important! Have a wonderful week, Mary!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGosh that fire could have done a lot of damage as we all realize that.
ReplyDeleteIt really could have,
DeleteWhy burn stuff there?!
ReplyDeleteThey don't care. The homeless routinely make camps by the power boxes because in the Winter it's warm and in the Summer they have the boxes to throw blankets over so they have some privacy in between them.
Deleteomg! I cannot believe anyone would set a fire near electrical equipment!!! eep.
ReplyDeleteNot real smart.
DeleteWell, glad the fire didn't do damage to the electrical system/grid. And yea for a quiet week. I hope you and yours have a good one!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt's a good thing the power boxes didn't catch on fire. I suppose it would depend on what's in them.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! That's hot!
