Apartment Life #392
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
I didn't get a picture of him but the same guy from this post who was digging holes a while back across the street, came and stood in front of our table in front of my apartment door. My daughter and I were watching him and then my daughter went to the door and asked him if she could help him with something. He said no, he was just looking at our table. She asked him to leave since we had our inner door open (the security door was locked) and Falcor was going crazy barking at him. But he ignored her and put a rock, a business card and a piece of glass on our table outside and then left. It was weird. He's weird. I don't know if he was high or has mental problems or what.

All the residents of my apartment complex got a weird email this week saying that each of us were added to a lease. I called the office and asked about it. She said everyone got this because there's a new owner and a new management company was taking over but it was nothing to be worried about it's just a new computer system that shot out new notices to all the residents. I told her it would have made more sense to just let us all know there was a new owner. She just laughed and said, yeah. So now we have to deal with a new owner and a new apartment management company. I guess that's what all the inspections were about after all.

These couches and chairs have been sitting in our alley by the trash can for weeks. The trash people will not take anything that's not in the garbage cans and maintenance hasn't given a damn about the trash all over the complex because they sold this place to a new owner. So I thought I would get a picture of this before the new management company does something about it, if they do. A bunch of homeless people have been sleeping here and hanging out here during the day.
The high this week was 84F/28C
The low this week was 59F/15C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

I certainly hope having New Management means that they keep things in good shape. Including hauling off the couch before somebody puts a roof on it and a door up and calls it a house.
ReplyDeleteIn the UK your local council will collect any unwanted large items. Does that not apply in Nevada?
ReplyDeleteI hope the new owner and new management company will do a good job.
Fingers crossed that the new management company and owner look after the residents, you couldn't make up what happens around your apartment, haha.
ReplyDeleteBe nice if the new management did something about the druggies and homeless people.
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI clicked back to the older post and read about the strange man who is smashing, digging and basically turning your neighborhood into a bizarro world. It's the craziest story ever! What he did this past week is equally strange and disconcerting. It's not a good sign when someone lingering in front of your apartment refuses to leave when asked. Keep documenting his activities with your camera.
Hopefully the new apartment management company will be more responsive to the needs of residents and do more to keep the area clean and safe and make necessary repairs in a timely manner.
I'm returning Wednesday with Pt. 2 of Shadyween 2025 and hope you and my buddy Falcor can join the fun. Have a great week, dear friend Mary!
One can hope that a new management company will mean improved maintenance and security (it sounds like it could hardly get worse). They might try to jack up the rents, though.
ReplyDeleteIncredible that you're still getting highs like 84°F. Up here the highs now are mostly around 60°F.
Good grief, those sofas are just an invitation for the druggies to lay down and relax. The guy outside your door sounds concerning, but now I want to know what the business card was for?
ReplyDeleteHopefully, cleanup will now occur.
ReplyDeleteThose couches are such an eye sore. We have trouble over here with the local authority removing rubbish and vans & trailers have a tough time getting into the waste site so people just dump anywhere. It's called "Fly Tipping" and illegal and usually incurs a fine or worse. But so many people get away with it. Annoys me so much because they usually dump their rubbish in nature. Scotland is so bad for it and littering :-(
ReplyDeleteJeez that guy sounds weird, I think he would have freaked me out!
"But he ignored her and put a rock, a business card and a piece of glass on our table outside and then left."
ReplyDeleteUh? What was the business card about? Was it even his?
I hope the new management does something for the decorum around there (starting with the sofas)...
I hope the new owner and new management company are better than your last, and that they don't cause you any new problems.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new management company.
