Apartment Life #403
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
My daughter and her best friend and I had a little adventure on Monday night. We noticed Xavier's (missing guy) apartment door open. So I grabbed my phone and tazer and headed over there and they went with me. I shouted into the apartment if anyone was in there, made sure no one was inside and then I locked the inside door but the security door you need a key to lock so I just locked the inside door and shut both of them. If the homeless had been inside I was going to tell them to leave or I was calling the police but it was empty, thankfully. *Hopefully the video plays for you guys*
You can hear my daughter's best friend who lives in my courtyard now, Say, "Oh this is nice." When she turns the bathroom light on. lol The apartment was completely redone, new paint, floors, appliances ect.
When we got back in our apartment, my daughter joked that she had to go with me in case I got into a fight with someone. lol

The garden is no more.
Tuesday morning, maintenance started raking up all the rocks in the courtyard. I asked one of them what they were doing and he told me they were putting plastic sheeting under the rocks so that no more weeds would grow in the courtyards. Because as you can see, there's a lot of patches of green out there. I asked if my garden was ok and he said he was told to move it all to the garbage so if I wanted to keep any of it to bring it in. But when I started bringing stuff in, he stopped me and said that they wouldn't be getting to my section today so I had until tomorrow (Wednesday) to get it all done. He said we're allowed 1-2 small plants in pots but we can't plant anything directly in the courtyard and with the plastic sheeting being put under the rocks, nothing will grow anyway.
They put all the rocks into piles so they could shovel them up easier to lay the plastic down.
Piles of rocks.
I also told him that this courtyard floods during the rain and if there's plastic it's going to flood more. He said it shouldn't flood too bad and then just turned around and ignored me. The Hell? I guess we'll see next time it rains.
This is what it used to look like. Now it's just rocks.

Tuesday afternoon, I was walking Falcor past the pool courtyard and heard this woman upstairs screaming for help. I mean, she was screaming like she was being killed or something. So I called 911 and told them. She came out while I was on the phone with 911 and she was still screaming for help and the 911 operator on the phone could hear her. Then the woman started slamming her fists against the window and I'm really surprised they didn't break.
Then she started screaming cuss words. The police got here really fast. Another woman came out of the apartment and saw me standing there and said she's mentally challenged, well that got this woman screaming all over again. Anyway, the police got here, they can sort it all out.

Here's something funny for you.
I took this broken egg out of the container and was surprised when the egg white was purple! It took a few minutes to figure out that...
The egg whites probably picked up some of the color from sitting in the egg crate foam or pulp stock the crate is made from. Since it's dyed a dark purple/blue that has to be where the color came from. Sure had me stumped for a moment though.

I'm sceptical about the guy saying "it shouldn't flood too bad" (and then ignoring you). Surely if rain can't get through the plastic sheeting it's going to flood more than before?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I plan on taking pictures when it floods and sending it to the manager.
DeleteSeems a little odd they would go to the trouble to remodel the apartment and leave the door unlocked or hanging open so the homeless could walk in and live. I think it's disgusting about the rocks and not being able to have some plants. From what you showed us in the past about how there used to be so many bushes and trees and now there's nothing left hardly, your little bit of green bring some life to the neighborhood. I am laughing about the eggs though.
ReplyDeleteI actually think the homeless people got the door open during the day and were going to come back that night. But since I locked it, maybe they decided not to.
DeleteSorry you lost your garden. The plastic and rocks won't make it flood less though. And weird the apartment door was just open like that.
ReplyDeleteI just know it's going to flood more. I think the homeless opened the door and were going to come back that night.
DeleteI figured they'd find some way of wrecking the garden. And yeah, I bet the flooding will be worse. It would be just like your management to not think of that.
ReplyDeleteCan civilians legally own tasers in Nevada? That surprises me.
Yes, in Nevada you can legally own a tazer or a stun gun and they are not considered a firearm. But felons cannot own a tazer and they can only be used for self defense. I looked up the law before I bought it. Nevada is an open carry state so I could buy a gun as well and wear it on my hip like a lot of people do as well but I didn't want to do that.
DeleteWhat a shame about the garden, and how foolish not to take account of the flooding issue.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your video - I'm glad there were no nasty surprises!
Thank you, I'm glad no one was in the apartment.
DeleteMary, you sure have stories to tell. You are a brave person!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the garden. What a shame.
I am helping my client fight her landlord. He's not taking care of the parking lot. I am afraid to walk on it, it's been icy. He owns several buildings and he is cheap, while he takes off on vacation. Sigh.
Thank you. I am just so sick of that apartment being broken into and having to worry about them setting a fire in there to stay warm.
DeleteThat sounds dangerous.
The apartment did look nice. That was good of you to lock it up. I’m sorry about the garden because it really did add brightness to the courtyard. The egg has me baffled. Even dying Easter eggs doesn’t turn the whites THAT much color. I really wouldn’t think the dye would seep into the egg that much.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm surprised the homeless didn't go in there. I'll miss the garden. The egg was weird. None of the others were like that.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteYou and your daughter could star in your own reality series, dear friend! As I watched your video, I was expecting a "jump scare" at any moment. :) I'm thankful you didn't find any sketchy characters or pools of blood inside that apartment. It's a doggone shame that nice garden plot needed to go. Like you, I am skeptical about the drainage situation with all that plastic sheeting installed across the courtyard. It's an unsolved mystery why that neighbor woman was screaming for help. Hope the coppers got it sorted. I don't know if I'd be willing to eat those dye-soaked eggs!
I'm returning with my first post of 2026 this Thursday, January 15. Hope you can join me at Shady's Place and bring my buddy Falcor. Have a great week, dear friend Mary!
Shady! Hello my friend, I'll be sure to come for a visit. No jump scares from me. lol
DeleteI'm glad I didn't find anything weird in there too.
I'll miss the garden, It was just the one egg and I threw that one away.
Strange about that door being open and too bad the pretty little garden is gone. Yes, I bet the courtyard floods more with that plastic down.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have a feeling we are going to need sand bags to keep the water out of our apartments when it rains again.
DeleteNope, those eggs would be gone. I'd be, I don't want no alien eggs around.
ReplyDeleteI threw that one egg away. The rest of them were fine. lol
DeleteWhat! You did not bring Falcor into the action???
ReplyDeletelmao No, I only have two hands, can't hold the camera, tazer and a leash at the same time.
Delete“It shouldn’t flood too bad” … What the hell. Why do people always have to learn the hard way … wait until the bottom floor units are damaged in a flood. That was adventurous of you three to investigate the open door, locked it up; otherwise, what looked nice would have been quickly wrecked by homeless taking advantage of the open door. Management should be grateful, but probably won’t care.
ReplyDeleteManagement doesn't even know. And I doubt they would care. I saw no reason to call them.
DeleteEither that or it's an alien egg 👽
ReplyDeleteIt could be alien for sure.
DeleteI'm sad about the loss of your garden. They pulled down the kids' playground at the apartment next door to us, and they said they were going to put in an outdoor cooking area and socializing area. Nothing yet. It's been several years.
ReplyDeleteSeveral Years? Yeah they don't plan on doing anything.
DeleteYou and your crazy adventures!
ReplyDeletelmao Yeah, I get into or at least see a lot around ehre.
DeleteThere was a lot going on this week. You were brave to check out the apartment. We shall see about the plastic and rocks. Sorry about your garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I figured the apartment was open because the homeless opened it and wanted to go in later that night.
DeleteThat sucks about your garden. I would buy the biggest planter pots since you're only allowed two and then you'll have some space for planting.
ReplyDeleteThe notices they sent out said we can have 2 small planter pots.
DeleteBrave of you to check Xavier's open door. Sorry about the garden.
