Apartment Life #342

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 25 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.

On Halloween when my daughter and grandson's father was taking my grandson to a Halloween party, they spotted an accident only a couple of streets away from where I live. The lady had been in the street selling flowers when a car accidentally hit her, she died. They covered her with a sheet.

The bucket of flowers that she had been selling was still sitting on the median after the police blocked the street off. That's really sad to have happened.

There was a news report that I found on this.

---
This is the laundry room for my complex. There are 88 apartments in my complex. There used to be 4 washers and 4 dryers in this laundry room. The floor also used to be covered in laminate tile. But they pulled that up and it's just the cement block there now. This week management or maintenance decided to get rid of all but one washer and one dryer.

They used to take quarters and now you have to download an app and pay for it through the app.

One washer and dryer for 88 apartments seems a bit crazy.  But I don't think they care. The laundry room is a mess too, they don't clean it. Some of the residents sweep it every once in a while but not recently. I don't use this laundry room. There's a self serve laundry mat across the parking lot in the shopping center next door or I just hand wash my stuff. There's too much drug smoking and other weird things that go on in the laundry room for me to be going in there.

Freebie Friday!

Welcome to another weekly Freebie Friday post, where I tell you what free samples and full sized products I received in the mail and how you can get them too. Someone asked me why I do a "Freebie Friday" each week, so I'll tell you.

A while back I listed all the free samples and wins that I had received that previous year and so many people didn't believe that I could have gotten so many free things. So I decided to prove it by taking a picture every week and sharing the sites that I found the links to the freebies at. So now you too can get great free samples coming to your mailbox each week.

You can find links to great samples at Hey It's Free and Freebie Shark.

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts because I don't receive a lot of freebies anymore. But this week I did.

I received 4 free Covid Tests. Always nice to have those on hand just in case.

I also received a 3.3 lb bag of Iams dry dog food for Falcor from Direct2Pet.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

The Pumpkin Is Carved and The Costume Has Been Picked

My daughter helped my grandson carve a pumpkin. My grandson looks a little crazy but he's related to me so it's kinda expected. LOL

My grandson is going to be a Ninja for Halloween. The swords were extra, they didn't come with the costume but he wanted them anyway.

Halloween With The Pets Through The Years

Some of you readers who have been around for years may remember that years ago I had pet rats. This was Scribbles. He was very curious of the Halloween decorations.

This was Flower, my hairless rat. She was the sweetest little girl and very fond of coming out to check out all the decorations.

This was Lucky. He was my 3 legged rat. Only having 3 legs sure didn't stop him from running around to check everything out though. He even sat there and posed for a picture. lol

And of course Falcor. He grabbed my daughter's stuffed pumpkin and ran around with it.

This was taken last year when I got a bear costume for him. He was not thrilled with it. lol Oh and the name falkor_the_luck_dog is his Instagram page that my daughter made for him.

Falcor pumpkin?

Na na na na na na Batdog!

Falcor is front of my daughter's haunted garden.

Apartment Life #341

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. If you've been around around you might see what's missing before looking at the picture below. When I took Falcor out this morning (Monday) I noticed something was missing across the street. Do you see it?

The PODS is gone! This picture is not from this week. I took this picture from a while ago so these police cars are from another incident I already posted about. I just wanted to show you the PODS container in case you are new here. That PODS container has been sitting there for over a year. The police have been out a couple of times checking it out and I figured that if it was stolen and just abandoned, the company would come get it but they didn't. But this morning (Monday) it was just gone. It was there the night before. My last walk with Falcor was at 10PM and it was there then. But at 6AM this morning it was gone. Kinda weird for it to have been towed away in the middle of the night, right? Well, that's another mystery I guess I will never know the details of.

What's Your Favorite Creepy Ghost Story?

Mine is by far The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow/The Headless Horseman.  All the movies, cartoons and shows have been great.

The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow

The story is set in 1790 in the countryside near the former Dutch settlement of Tarry Town, in a secluded glen known as Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod Crane, a lean, lanky, superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut. Ichabod intends to woo Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of a wealthy farmer, in order to procure her family's riches for himself. He competes for her affection with Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt, the town rowdy. Unable to goad Ichabod into fighting for Katrina's hand, Brom instead wages a campaign of harassment against the schoolmaster, plaguing him with a series of pranks and practical jokes.

One autumn night, Ichabod is invited to attend a harvest party at the Van Tassel homestead. At the party, Brom tells the story of the Headless Horseman, the notorious ghost of a Hessian trooper decapitated by a cannonball during the Revolutionary War. The Horseman is supposedly buried in a churchyard in Sleepy Hollow and rises from his grave every night to search for his missing head, but is supernaturally barred from crossing a wooden bridge that spans a nearby stream.

Ichabod proposes to Katrina, but she rejects his advances. He leaves the party heartbroken and rides home on a borrowed plough horse named Gunpowder. He encounters a cloaked rider and believes it to be the Headless Horseman. Ichabod rides for his life with the apparition close behind. At the bridge, the Horseman rears his horse and hurls his severed head directly at Crane, knocking him off his horse.

The next morning, Gunpowder is found eating the grass at his master's gate, but Ichabod has disappeared from the area, leaving Katrina to marry Brom Bones. Although the true nature of both the Headless Horseman and Ichabod's disappearance are left open to interpretation, the story implies that the Horseman was really Brom in disguise. A shattered pumpkin is found near Ichabod's hat where he fell, suggesting the severed head that was thrown at him was merely a jack-o'-lantern and that Crane survived the fall from Gunpowder and fled Sleepy Hollow in horror.
