This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
A couple of months ago I started taking video of the kids in my courtyard when they would come up to my door and tease my dog. They will bark at my dog, stand directly in front of my door and bang on my metal security door or just stand there making faces at me or talk to my dog so that he starts barking.
I've asked the parents to keep their kids away from my door but they just don't care enough to even watch their kids when they are outside, let alone stop them from doing something. So I just keep videotaping everything for my own documentation of what I'm having to deal with. Just a few minutes before I took this, the kid was banging on my door trying to make Falcor bark. When I complained to the manager she said there was nothing she could do, that if they bothered me too much I could always call the police.
This is an everyday occurrence now if I leave my inner door open on nice days. Every. Single. Day. I hardly ever even keep my door open because of the kids. This video was taken a couple of months ago and now that's it's so hot outside the kids don't come out as much but when they are out, they still do the same thing.
One more bit of info.
The maintenance man for my apartment complex came to my door Tuesday morning and told Ken that he got fired. The apartment manager had been out of town last week but her adult son lives with her. The office has an inside door that goes right to the manager's apartment so while she was gone, the maintenance man used that inside door in the office to get in her apartment and steal some of her food. The son noticed the food missing and called corporate to report the maintenance man who was fired on Tuesday. What an idiot. He and Ken are friends, that's why he came to tell him what happened.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.
Out-of-control kids can be a huge pain in the ass in apartment buildings. I'd never take a first-floor apartment again (not having ground-level doors or windows eliminates most of the problem).
There's no reason the manager couldn't at least talk to the other tenants. Surely problems like this are part of a manager's job.
Sound like some parents didn't parent. Not sure if you do facebook and belong to local group. Might want to rant there and hopeful someone can indentify the little rug rats. Coffee is on
I would be livid if kids were doing that to my dogs. You should be allowed to leave your door open without being bothered. I'm sorry you and Falcor have to deal with that.
These kids need to be taught a few boundaries. It is a shame that there parents don't seem to care and you have to deal with their behavior. That is crazy that the maintenance man was taking food from the manager's apartment.
This is an Award-Free blog. It is a lovely gesture, but I am unable to comply with the terms of the awards so I have made this an Award-Free blog. Thank You for understanding.
I'd get a hose or a giant water gun and hose the little turds down every time they came by.
ReplyDeletelol yeah, that guy is an idiot.
I don't know. If I thought that I wouldn't get charged with assault, I might do the water gun. lol
DeleteKids are little monsters sometimes
ReplyDeleteThey really are.
DeleteDo you think the guy stole the food because he needed it or just to be a jerk?
ReplyDeletePoor Falcor.
Because he's a jerk. He got caught with other stolen items too.
DeleteNever a dull moment, right? Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteNot around here.

You would think this would be the managers job but she could care less.
DeleteBad behaved kids!
ReplyDeleteThey sure are.
DeleteI would put lots of dog poop out there for those evil little ones to step in.
ReplyDeleteLOL
Deleteit'srealy annoying when people just come to make react the dog
ReplyDeleteIt really is. The parents don't like hearing my dog bark so I just let him bark when the kids tease him.
Deleteugh those kids!
ReplyDeleteThe kids are bad but their parents are really to blame.

Oh I know who they belong to. I've talked to their parents, they live 3 apartment from me. The parents do not care.
DeleteUgh those kids suck. And so does the maintenance man, what a loser. At least there is never a dull moment. LOL.
ReplyDeleteNope, never a dull moment. lol

ReplyDeleteL @ Do You Dog-ear?
Oh I feel the same way.
DeleteOh how obnoxious.
ReplyDeleteAnd what in the world is wrong with people.
I have no idea. Some people just don't think before they act.

ReplyDeleteThe maintenance man got caught by resident stealing other things like bbq's too. Those kids are something else.
DeleteWow. That's annoying. I would be really pissed if I had people walking up to my door, harassing my dog every day.
ReplyDeleteThankfully it's summer now and I have my door shut most of the time.
DeleteUgh, how frustrating Mary. Somebody needs to feed the maintenance man..lol
ReplyDeletelol Right?
DeleteI hate when parents won't take responsibility for their own kids
ReplyDeleteSo do I.
