Favorite Photo of the Week
We tried something new. A couple of months ago Ken picked up some purple potatoes. We'd never had them before, so I was excited to try them. I made mashed potatoes with them. This is what they look like on the inside before cooking them.
I made mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, sauteed carrots and smoked pork chops. The purple potatoes taste just like regular potatoes if you're wondering, but they're purple. It made for a colorful plate of food. Oh and smoked pork chops taste just like baked ham.

DeleteMy hubby LOVES purple potatoes. He grows them every year in a trash can in layers, harvesting a bit at a time. I don't love them, I thought they tasted strange, but it's probably that they LOOK weird which makes my brain think they're odd somehow.
ReplyDeleteThey tasted exactly the same to me. I thought for sure they would taste different.
DeletePurple potatoes? Fun! I wonder if they have any more nutritional value. I stuck a couple of potatoes that were old and growing roots into the ground a couple of months ago and now they're growing like mad. I guess that's not the proper way to grow potatoes, but still, it's working. We'll see how it turns out. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I bet that will get you some good potatoes.
DeleteI don't think I've ever heard of purple potatoes! Haha. I know you're not supposed to eat them if they're still green. ;)
