This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.
I heard someone on a loud speaker on Wednesday, so I look out my bedroom window and sure enough the police are out there. I saw them walking right across the street to that apartment complex. At first there were two police cars.
And then a third police car pulled up. They all walked across the street.
Then this truck pulls up and a Marshall gets out and meets the police across the street. I know he was a Marshall because he had on a black vest that said Marshall on the back.
And then the fire department ambulance pulls up. I saw a guy come out on the stretcher and his face was all bloody. I watched for about an hour and then they brought out a guy in handcuffs and took him away in a police car. The police stayed there a long time. I am just guessing but I think the guy they arrested beat the crap out of the guy taken to the hospital.

I heard something outside so I looked out my bedroom window and spotted this woman smoking from her crack pipe. She kept hiding her head in the sheet but she wasn't very good at hiding and I could clearly see her smoking crack right there. She moved on after about 30 minutes.

The police have been putting on a show of force in your neighborhood lately. All that manpower summoned to the scene just to take a guy into custody following an altercation. It must have been a quiet day elsewhere in the precinct. I will assume that you haven't found out how the bloodied man is doing and probably never will.
The crack pipe woman is a sad sight indeed. Living without hope out there on the street is no way to live, but it is her life and describes the lives of many others. With the Vegas daytime high temperature creeping up into the miserable range, her plight and the plight of other homeless will soon become even more desperate.

DeleteAll I know is that there was a fight between the two guys. I don't know them but some new people have moved in across the street. The police have been around here quite a bit recently. The temps are definitely creeping up.
I'm surprised that that they got the guy in hand cuffs. I've seen marshalls show up on scenes. And In Minneapolis, I've observed a lot more cop interactions. Even turned on the police scanner. I wonder what it would be like to hear the police scanner in your neck of the woods.

DeleteThat last photo is so sad. I can't imagine what life is like for a lone woman living on the streets addicted to crack.

It was a pretty quiet week considering.
DeleteIt looks like the woman has a cat in the carrier. It is a doubly sad situation. Woman addicted to crack and a cat dependent on her.

Yeah she did have a cat in the carrier. When I saw her later that day I saw that she had food and water in the carrier with the cat. It's surprising how many homeless people around here have animals with them.

DeleteNever a dull moment! It’s surprising that the women even tried to hide what she was doing. Must have been sober enough to realize it was a no no.

DeleteOh my! I forget, where are you? Nothing like this happens near me - There are lots of "older" folks in my neighborhood, so when we see a truck or police, we assume someone is hurt/ill.
