Favorite Picture of the Week

I took this picture in February of this year, in the middle of our Winter. I thought it would be interesting to see the subtle differences between the Winter and Summer on the street. It was about 39F/4C on this day. Notice how some of the tree's on the right hand side of the street have no leaves on them.

This picture was taken in the middle of Summer of last year (2024) around July when it was 120F/48C but it doesn't look that hot does it? lol But as you can see those tree's on the right side of the street now have leaves all over them.

This picture was taken in March of this year. This was after the palm trees and the trees on the other side of the street had been trimmed.

So I guess we do have some changes from one season to the next but nothing like some places where all the leaves turn pretty colors.

  1. Yes, they're very subtle changes. I do like to have proper seasons although I'm really not a fan of the cold weather.

  2. They are subtle changes, but changes just the same. We are just starting into autumn here and the tree colours are amazing.

    1. I like seeing the colors on trees changing. I don't see that much around here.

  3. Even in the desert, there are changes.
Our leaves in the fall turn yellow-brown and fall off in a week. Not really a pretty fall color.

  4. I would say you're extreme change in temperature makes up for having leaves turn orange in the fall.

    1. Yes! The palm fronds die and have to be cut off.

  6. I'd say the changes are subtle. We have subtle changes here, too, since we have only a slight winter. But our pecan tree loses its leaves, and it is only when the leaves come back (finally! last week!) that I know spring is really here.

  9. All those palms and the blue skies are so summery. It's good to know they do the upkeep on the trees.

  10. When I lived in Florida years ago, I saw a lot of subtle differences between summer and winter. I think I see some of it in your pictures, too. Alana ramblinwitham

  13. Many people wouldn't notice the changes. It pays to be observant.

  15. That's a cool idea to track the seasonal changes on your street. Right now, several trees have pink or white blossoms and others have small buds in my neighborhood.

  17. It may not look too much different, but it sure feels different, doesn't it?

    1. Oh man it sure does. In the Summer it's like opening the door to the oven when baking cookies but there are no cookies and you can't turn the heat off. lol

  19. I've wondered about the seasonal foliage changes in warmer climates. What interesting subtle differences in each picture.

  20. I prefer Palms to be Natural and full, not trimmed within an inch of their lives. The Seasons in the Desert are subtle, but noticeable at times.

    1. If they don't trim the palms when the winds pick up the dead ones fall off and hit people in the head who are walking on the sidewalks. lol Those things hurt! LOL

  21. Yes, even in Florida, we had subtle changes from the seasons. Not enough to make me buy winter clothes...lol

    1. I don't buy Winter clothes either. I have a coat and one sweater. I have 2 long sleeve shirts for the really cold days other than that I still wear short sleeve shirts in the Winter. lol
