How I Didn't Win A Charmin Sweepstakes Even Though I got A Winning Email Notification

On December 16th I received this email notification that I had won a year's supply of Charmin. I was so excited and posted it all over the place. Soon though people saw my posts and started commenting on them that they got the same emails and a few hours later they got another email saying they actually didn't win anything. I hadn't received that email...yet.

But the next day I did. Oh, I was mad. So I called the company and complained and told them that they should have to honor the winning email that was sent out. The customer service rep was rude to me, kept sighing and said because I didn't actually win anything and the email notifications were sent out on accident, all she could offer me was a $6 off coupon. Then she asked me if I had any feedback for her team, oh yes I sure did. I gave her an ear full.

The next day on the 18th I got this email. So I filled out the form and I should get these coupons in 6-8 weeks. We'll see. I guess calling them and complaining got their attention a little bit. I still think they should have honored those winning emails they sent out. They're a big enough company that they could have eaten the cost. This will have to do I guess.

  1. Sigh. They should indeed have to honour the email. Well done for calling them out on it.

  2. Oh, wow, and we were all so happy for you, such a cool thing it would have been.

  3. How rude! I wonder how many people received the winner email in error? Was it too many to honor?

    1. I don't know. I did see about half a dozen on social media complaining.

  5. They made a poopsie? OMG, what a ridiculous apology that was! I’d be pissed. I’m glad you called and gave them a piece of your mind.

  6. How charmin' of them to blunder like that and let people down. At least it will cost them some real money if they have to send those coupons to everybody who complained (you can bet people who didn't complain will get zilch).

But notice it's two coupons for up to $25 each on one package. So to get the full value of one coupon, you'd have to buy a package of Charmin so big it costs over $25. If the cost is less than that, the rest of the coupon value will just disappear.

As for the customer service person being rude to you, they'd probably all been dealing with tons of irate people all day. Customer service is just about the worst job there is. They probably got fired for being rude, for that matter.

    1. I did see that but I just saw that a 24 roll of the mega rolls was $21.00 at my grocery store. So I will get a couple of free big packs.

  7. You know, I keep getting nice email (birthday and Christmas) from local businesses, also my dentist, wishing me happy birthday. In the old days, you'd get a free dinner, or something. Nada!

  9. I'm glad you put Charmin on Blast for this Mary, it was not right that their error causes so many a disappointment. I agree that their Rep shouldn't have been rude but I suspect she had a lot of very angry Winners who then realized they weren't getting anything... and not her direct fault to have to deal with it after the screw up Corporate made.

  10. Since you weren't the only one receiving the winning email, that was a huge screwup. I'm guessing someone's head is going to roll and I agree, they should honor the win, for not only you but for all the others that were notified.

  13. Whoops. It's so easy to make mistakes like that that their social media team or whoever does the sweepstakes things should have been way more careful. Make a big enough stink... Nah, it won't impact their bottom line, so they'll just keep on.

  14. What a bummer that you didn't actually win!

  15. Well I certainly hope they honor the offer the customer service person stated.

  16. They need their own Charmin to wipe the you know what off their heads.

  17. Are you surprised that they're a SHITTY CORPORATION? LOL

  18. They sure made a poopsie, and they probably needed all that toilet paper they didn't give away to wipe it. Hope they at least honor this alternate "prize". Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  19. Yeah, that whole thing was shitty... glad they are at least giving you a decent consolation prize.

  20. Yuck, they messed up and couldn't even own up to it?
I'm sorry you didn't win. I would've been super excited too.

😂 I wonder how the mistake happened in the first place...anyhow, that serves them well. I'm sure you weren't the only one who complained, so they will have to fork out some money anyway...

  24. I'm sure Mr. Whipple is just hoarding all the Charim, and squeezing it in the warehouse :)

  25. They make billions a year and should have honored the wins for everyone. This makes me mad.
