Freebie Friday!

Welcome to another weekly Freebie Friday post, where I tell you what free samples and full sized products I received in the mail and how you can get them too. Someone asked me why I do a "Freebie Friday" each week, so I'll tell you.

A while back I listed all the free samples and wins that I had received that previous year and so many people didn't believe that I could have gotten so many free things. So I decided to prove it by taking a picture every week and sharing the sites that I found the links to the freebies at. So now you too can get great free samples coming to your mailbox each week.

You can find links to great samples at Hey It's Free and Freebie Shark.

This week I received:

A prize pack from a contest in a FB group from Pippa Grant.

Perfume samples from Macy's.

The prize pack came with a candle, tumbler, lip balm, stickers, notepad, key chain, pen, book, and soap.

I was sent a double order of the same perfumes that's why there are so many of them. If you want to try and get some free Macy's perfumes, like them on FB and Instagram. Then be on the lookout for ads from them in your feed on both sites for free samples. That's how I keep getting them.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

Review: Seduced By The Dragon Lord by Kiersten Fay

Book Description

Trapped in an alien spacecraft through no fault of her own, Jessie Knight is jettisoned into space and intercepted by a mysterious group of soldiers who call themselves dragon shifters. Thrust into a world of myth, legend, and danger, she discovers she may not be entirely human as she begins to develop latent powers that both captivate and mystify her. Placed under the protection of a gorgeous dragon shifter named Orik, she quickly realizes she must conceal her new abilities or be declared his enemy.

No one knows better than Orik Theroux of the King’s Guard that witches are heartless and ruthless killers who must be stamped out of existence. Orphaned by a group of them at a young age, he has vowed to destroy every last witch who crosses his path…until he begins to fall for an exquisite human female who turns out to be more than she seems. When the palace is besieged by witches, he must decide if he can trust Jessie with his life…and his heart.

My Review

Jessie is out for a walk in the woods when she stumbles into a cave to wait out the thunderstorm that pops up. But the cave is more than she could ever imagine and when she accidentally presses the wrong button, an alien space craft carries her away. But she isn't going to let the aliens get their hands on her when the ship is intercepted.

Orik learned the hard way that witches are trouble when they killed his parents for no reason. So when he and his people intercept an enemies ship and find a human woman inside and is finally able to get her to come out, he finds he likes her but she might be more than human.

This book starts off so sad when Orik is a child and finds his dragon shifter parents have been murdered. But after Jessie finds out that their queen is also a human and the queen makes her feel safer, she stops being so scared for a while. The queen is married to royalty, which makes her the queen but she's still getting used to that. Jessie is given a room, actually a large suite of her own but she just wants to be able to go out and walk around the garden. She doesn't like being cooped up in her room all the time and when she calls Orik to take her out he always has an excuse why he can't. So Jessie escapes her room on more than one occasion and Orik always finds her. This last time though, Jessie finds herself in trouble when a menacing witch finds her and puts a tracking spell on her that Orik can smell when he finds her.

Jessie is starting to think that she might have some magic inside her but if she does she has to keep it hidden because dragons don't like witches and Orik is known as the destroyer because he's vowed to kill the witches he comes across because he thinks they are all evil. So Jessie isn't sure that he won't kill her without giving her a chance to show him that she isn't evil even though she's not sure that she really is a witch. They get thrown together in a cabin waiting for a storm to pass and they get to know one another better but she's still not sure she can trust him with all her secrets.

When the truth comes out Orik reacts in a bad way and so do most of the other dragons but Orik and Jessie find themselves in a lot of danger.

This story was so good. Jessie is sassy, sarcastic and has a determined fighting spirit. While Orik wasn't sure about her at first, it sure didn't take long to see that he admired her and found her attractive. These two were so good together. I also loved Jessie's little animal friend, Phoenix. Orik was terrified of this little ball of fluff but Jessie had a way with animals and Phoenix loved her.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I received an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Review

There are three stories in this anthology so I will be doing a mini review for each one.

Colorado Cowboy by Diana Palmer

When Esther's mother is killed right in front of her by her mother's boyfriend, she knows that she has to escape before the boyfriend can come after her for money. When she ran, she hitchhiked somewhere safe, but her body gave out in the snow right in front of Butch's cabin. He lived there by himself but had a three legged wolf named Two-Toes.

Butch found her in the snow and brought her in his cabin. She told him that she saw her mother's boyfriend kill her and planned on getting a job and staying away from the boyfriend. He let her stay with him and after a little while they got close but she made the mistake of not telling him how rich she was especially after she inherits all of her mother's things. She should have gone to the police and told them what happened but she was scared that the boyfriend, Darrin would find her and he had connections that could find her. So while there was a bit of a hiccup when Butch found out that Esther was loaded, things worked out in the end. I really liked this story.

The Wolf On Her Doorstep by Kate Pearce

Beth checked in on Conner who hadn't picked up his groceries at the market for a couple of weeks and found he had an infected leg and a high fever. Beth stayed at his cabin overnight to take care of him after consulting with the town doctor. He's grumpy and she's got some baggage from her abusive ex but they got along really well. His wolf, Loki was a big sweetie and helped get help for Conner. There's some drama with her two teenage sons and her ex but this was a really sweet story.

Rescue: Cowboy Style by Zebecca Zanetti

Hallie and Trent met when her car broke down and she walked a couple of miles in a storm until she saw lights and ended up at a party on Trent's property. She tries to keep it a secret but Trent and his brother's are all trained killers so they know that she's keeping something from them. When she finally comes clean what she's on the run from, Trent enlists his brother's help to remedy the situation. There's a wolf that lives on or near his property but for the most part keeps his distance until Hallie starts staying there and then he wants to be around her all the time. When Hallie realizes that Trent might be dangerous she runs but Trent easily finds her and explains things to her. This was a great story. I liked the action, danger and interesting men Trent's brothers are. I will definitely be reading more of this series.

I requested this book from NetGalley because I love Diana Palmer's books but all of these stories were really good books.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I received an e-ARC from NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Review: Meant To Be Immortal by Lynsay Sands

Book Description

Mac Argeneau knows all too well: immortals can be killed. Not with holy water or silver crosses, but by decapitation or being set on fire. So when Mac’s house bursts into flames—with him inside—he’s sure it was no accident. But who would want to kill a scientist specializing in hematology? There is a silver lining: a blonde investigator appears on the scene and sparks feelings in him that have been dormant for centuries.

CJ Cummings is in town on a special investigation, but she’s been waylaid by the local police to deal with this arson case. The biggest mystery is how this sexy scientist with silvery blue eyes has emerged from a blazing inferno without a burn mark on him. He’s clearly hiding something. Sure, she’d love to see him without his lab coat, but she’s got a job to do—despite his insistence that he needs a bodyguard and...he wants her.

But when a second attempt on their lives puts CJ in harm’s way, it’s Mac who will do anything to safeguard the woman who’s destined to be his life mate.

My Review

Mac had just moved into the home he's renting and hasn't even finished unpacking when he smells smoke and knows there's a fire. Now being immortal means that it's hard to kill him but fire will definitely do the trick. He finds himself with only one way to stay alive until the fire department can get to him, but it's not gonna be pretty once he gets out.

CJ is just getting into town to interview a police officer about a complaint against him when she gets recruited to go to the fire and investigate it because the the other police are busy on another case. She thinks she's just getting the run around again but goes to the fire and that's when things start to get weird.

Mac is an immortal (think vampire) but they don't call themselves vampires because they are nice but they don't want humans to know they exist. So when Mac is hurt in the fire, he has to drink blood from several firefighters in order to heal. But that just makes CJ more curious about why he was being transported to the hospital and then they changed their minds and turned back. It was would have been easier to just wipe her mind of that and give her new memories but since he can't do that to her because she's his mate, he has to come up with a believable lie.

Mac has just found his mate, but she's human and knows nothing about him or immortals and she's not interested in pursuing a relationship with him because of her past. So Mac has no choice but to make himself seem like there's a stalker after after him trying to kill him and he needs her to be his bodyguard. CJ tries everything she can to get away from him and out of this assignment but things just seem to pile up in her way every time she wants someone else to take his case so they end up spending a lot of time together.

CJ has feelings for Mac and Mac wants to spend the rest of his life with her but it's not going to be easy to convince her of everything he has to tell her about him and his people. The truth comes out after they are both put in danger and now CJ has a choice to make. The romance and the mystery surrounding the fire and the officer with the complaint against him made this a very interesting book. I really like how everything came together and we get a couple of twists thrown in at just the right time.

I've been reading this series for such a long time and the books are always so good. I love this series and plan on reading as many books as the author plans to write.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Disclosure: I was give an eARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Apartment Life #249

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 23 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 23 years here in a weekly blog post.

----

Last Saturday night the police were outside my place pointing an assault rifle (My brother said it was an AK47) while walking around because someone was shooting off fireworks and someone must have called in a shots fired to 911. The police asked my daughter if she heard any gun shots when they saw her outside and she even told them it was just fireworks. But they were walking around my street pointing their flashlights and guns into parked cars and into the stair wells across street at people's doors as they were checking behind bushes, cars, around corners and down the street. They had their guns drawn the whole time. My camera doesn't take clear pictures at night and I wasn't about to start flipping flash bulbs at the police as they are on alert and have their weapons drawn. Nope.

----

I was in my room and just happened to look out the window as I opened the curtains and of course there was a police car right there. I took a look in my courtyard and they were at the apartment directly across from me. They didn't stay long so I don't know what happened.

---

And to further the discussion from last week, my daughter spotted an ambulance in front of my complex and snapped a picture for me. This time it's one of the white AMR ambulances. Last week there was a red Fire Rescue Ambulance. We also have blue ambulances here from a privately owned company but I hardly ever see them. I didn't see who was taken in the ambulance this week.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

I received.

Confidence in a cream moisturizer.
Xyzal allergy medication.
Sephora foundation samples.
Taat- tobacco and nicotine free cigarettes.

Let's talk about those cigarettes first. They have no nicotine, no tobacco and they smell like chocolate. My daughter, brother and a neighbor all tried them and think they would probably help those trying to stop smoking real cigarettes. Very interesting.

I like the allergy medicine. It helps me at night. All but one of those foundation samples were dark for me. But the one that I did get to try was good. The moisturizer is good too.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

Review: Her Vampire Lord (Midnight Doms book 10) by Ines Johnson

Book Description

HE OWNS MY DEBT BUT HE WON'T TAKE MY MONEY.

ALL HE WANTS IS ME.

Gaius Serrano is a mysterious figure in the world of wine. He’s arrogant. Darkly handsome.

And—my instinct warns me—dangerous.  He’s the last person I want owning my family’s debt.

Since my parents died, I’ve been responsible for my sibling's future and fortunes in the form of our family’s business. I’ll pay any price to get it back.

But he doesn’t want my money. He wants to master my pleasure. One night for one share of the business. If I give myself to him, I can earn my business back piece by piece.

I have no choice. I have to take the deal. I fall into his arms, into his bed. Into a world of passion that threatens to consume us both.

Because Gaius doesn’t want mere pieces of me. He wants all of me.

He’ll bring me to the edge over and over again until he breaks me.

Until he makes me his.

My Review

Because of his sire, Gaius is a bit tormented and very careful with the women he feeds from. He never sleeps with them and never plays with the same woman twice.

Marechal is the older sister and has been taking care of her siblings since her mother died and now her father as well. She is the boss, the woman in charge and doesn't take a lot of time for herself.

I knew from another book, Her Vampire Prince, that Gaius liked or was intrigued by Marechal. I was hoping they would get their own book so when I saw this one, I was super excited to read it. When Marechal finds out that Gaius or one of his brothers have acquired shares of her vineyard and she no longer has the controlling interest, she's really mad so she asks Gaius what he wants in order to get some of the shares back from him. Only she's not ready for what he wants, her. But she gives in because she's attracted to him in a way that she's not experienced before.

Gaius might be a dominant vampire but he's also a little broken from all the abuse from his sire. Even now that the sire is dead, he and his brothers, especially Virius don't let their guard down. It was a little sad to watch the way he waited for Marechal to hurt him because he wasn't sure that she wouldn't or wasn't awful like his sire. But it was also great to see how good Marechal was for him, I just wish we had more insight into their relationship. He never told her that he was scared or why and I thought that would have been nice to witness.

There was also this small side story about the vines on Gaius and his brothers vineyard that had some sort of curse on it and somehow Zahara and her people who I think are shifters, are involved in getting the curse lifted. But the story was quick and even though it looked like Virius might have found his mate in this side story, we don't get to see much of what's going on here. This story was thrown in, not completed and we were left with a huge cliffhanger in my eyes. I have looked for Virius's book but cannot for the life of me find it. But I will keep looking because his is the one that I want to read the most.

The storyline between Gaius and Marechal was completed but the story with the vines, curse and Zahara and Virius was left wide open. I didn't like how this book ended with such a wide storyline and can only hope that it leads to a spinoff series or some kind of conclusion in another book.

I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Product Review: Luminance Skincare

I saw an ad on Fb for this mini sampler set and I got this for just $3.95
It looked interesting so I ordered it for myself. Included was rose toner, gentle cleanser and moisturizer. It came really fast too.

I love the rose toner. It smells like roses and works well as a toner. The gentle cleanser is very gentle on my face and doesn't dry my skin out like some of the other cleansers I've tried. The cleanser does separate in the bottle but mixes again if you just shake it before using. The moisturizer is nice and absorbs into my skin nicely.

If you'd like to try this, you can find it here

All of their products are 100% cruelty free and vegan. I liked that so I thought I would give it a try and I'm glad I did. I received 3 nice size samples for just under $4.

Does this sound like something you would use?

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. Before I even got up and dressed on Monday morning I heard people outside so I looked out my bedroom window and saw the ambulance out there. There was a car in the way to get a good picture but you can still see the red ambulance there. I saw someone from across the street get taken out on a stretcher and taken to the hospital. No idea what happened.

That was all for this week. It was a very quiet week around here.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Review: Her Vampire Addiction (Midnight Doms book 9) by Tabitha Black

Book Description

I vowed never to love again…

For over 1500 years, I've mostly walked alone. A vampire, a monster in the dark.

Until she walks into my club: a ray of sunshine in the blackest night.

She's blonde. Beautiful. Sassy. Submissive.

And 100% human.

I'm a predator, and she's my perfect prey. I'll have her tied up and quivering as I give her pain and pleasure like she's never felt before.

But I'm not the only monster hunting her. And if I don't take her – claim her – I'll lose her forever...

My Review

After dating Zeke for a short amount of time Sabina dumped him but he's not taking being dumped very well and starts stalking her. After getting into Club Toxic and not having a good time with Ethan, it's Maximus that steps in and saves her from the brutality that Ethan wanted to dish out.

Maximus was in love a long time ago and because of how he lost her, he decided not to let himself get that close or to love another woman but he feels something for Sabina.

After getting out of Club Toxic that first night after Ethan acted like a total jerk and Maximus saved her, she comes back to the club the next day to return Maximus's suit jacket to him. They end up getting to know one another better and then heading down to the dungeon to do a scene. We find out pretty quickly that Maximus is a sadist and Sabina is a masochist. She likes the pain that Maximus dishes out so it's all consensual but if this type of storyline makes you uncomfortable, I wouldn't read this book. it was even a bit much for me to read.

While we are watching Sabina and Maximus get to know each other and fall for each other, there's Sabina's ex that won't stop sending her threatening text messages. I like how protective Maximus is of Sabina and how independent she is but at the same time is submissive. It was nice to see how you could be both at the same time. I liked the ending but I would have liked to see a little more into their pasts and get to know them both a little better.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

You can find links to great samples at Hey It's Free and Freebie Shark.

This week I received :

Inception dog food sample.
Clinique and Estee Lauder face cream Samples.

I gave my dog a little of the dog food to see if his little sensitive stomach could take it. And while he kept it down...it gave him horrible dog farts. It was awful. Falcor sleeps next to me in his own bed on the floor and the smell emanating from him that night was something straight out of the sewer. Yeah, I'm sure you're not surprised that I gave the rest of the dog food sample to my neighbor. Hopefully her dog didn't end up smelling like something crawled up his rear and died.

The face cream samples are nice. I'm always up to trying a new moisturizer.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

Review: Her Vampire Temptation (Midnight Doms Book 8) by Alexis Alvarez

Book Description

SHE’LL LEARN TO CALL ME MASTER.

The redheaded mortal is intoxicating – young, smart, beautiful.
I took her to the dungeon and delivered a lesson in pleasure. And a little pain, to make her blood sweeter.

Then I wiped her mind and sent her home. Because immortals and mortals don’t mix.
But now three young women matching her description are missing, and the vampire I sired is up to no good. He's hunting my little mortal. I have to keep her close to me. Protect her.

While she’s here, she’ll learn to obey and call me Master…and she’ll love every second of it.
The only problem? So will I.

When this is all over, I won’t want to let her go…

My Review

Bri has Xeroderma and she can't go out in the sun. UV light makes her skin blister and bleed. For work she is a web designer and makes her own hours at night.

Alain is a vampire and likes to go to Club Toxic to play and find submissives he can get a little blood from. Unfortunately one of the vampires he sired, Karl is killing humans for fun and he has to put a stop to it.

Bri has car trouble and is pulled to the side of the road putting coolant in her car when they first meet. He comes up behind her to let her know that she's on private property and needs to leave. What happens next was nothing short of a steamy, snarky, sexy encounter. The banter between these two would have had me hooked if I wasn't already so far down the rabbit hole with this series, that I already knew I would be reading the rest of the books left in this series. These two were fun and sexy right from the start and I love a snarky heroine. Love it!

To both of their surprise, they both end up at Club Toxic on the same night and Alain is shocked and delighted to see her there since he couldn't stop thinking about her. Club Toxic is owned by the vampire king and is a BDSM club for vampires but humans go there too. They end up playing in the dungeon together. The vampires usually wipe any memories of blood sucking or vampires before the women leave but her mind isn't easily wiped and he's sure that if he tries any harder, he'll leave her with brain damage, so she leaves with a few memories.

There's a stalker that's been taking women that look like Bri and none of their bodies have been found. So when Alain finds this out, he wants to keep Bri safe because he knows who it is and he doesn't trust the man. Bri doesn't like being cooped up while Alain is trying to keep her safe and she does a few things that put her in danger. For a smart woman she takes some chances that I just thought were dumb but Alain and his friends help when they are needed.

I really liked the romance between these two and I enjoyed the mystery surrounding the missing girls, how they were picked and why they were being taken. I am really enjoying this series.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Review: Her Vampire Obsession (Midnight Doms Book 7) by Lesli Richardson

Book Description

HER TASTE IS ADDICTIVE AND I WILL NOT SHARE HER. NO ONE GETS HER BUT ME.

Dexter

I've lived a long time. Some might say too long. I honestly don't know what drew me to Lucius' club in Tucson, of all hellish destinations, but dark and self-destructive thoughts have increasingly beckoned to me, as of late.

Then I meet her.

She challenges me from the very start and awakens something I'd thought long dead and cold inside my soul. Even her name should burn my lips, yet I can't let her go.

But when pieces of the past catch up with us, will I be able to keep her safe?

Eilidh

I've spent most of my life running, but that bastard had my number from almost the second our eyes meet. He's the first of his kind to break through my defenses when I thought I was safe here, of all places.

He's done worse than steal my heart--he's given me hope.

Now what the hell do I do?

Especially when it looks like my past is catching up with us.

This time, I might have run out of options.

My Review

Eilidh has been on the run from something that appears to be a demon dog but she thinks it might have killed her dad too. She's now protected by the vampires and the werewolves and makes extra money selling her blood to the vampire king to sell in his club because there's something special about her blood.

Dexter was ready to meet the sun but one taste of Eilidh's blood gives him something to live for. After meeting her, he wants nothing more than for her to trust him so he can keep her safe but she has secrets. He'll do whatever he has to in order to win her over.

Eilidh and Dexter are drawn to each other right away and I really liked how sweet he was with her because he knew that she would probably run away from him if he came on too strong right away. After a couple of dates it's not long before they are seeing each other a lot and really getting along. They share their secrets with one another and it was great getting to know them.

Lucius, the vampire king and Garrett the alpha of the werewolves had a treaty to work together for the best interests of both species, they found a way to find common ground. So when Dexter comes to town and asks to meet with Garrett, Lucius sets up the meeting but everyone wants Eilidh there because they all like and trust her. Things go well and Dexter is ready to move on to building a new life there with Eilidh and even get along with the werewolves but as soon as Eilidh and Dexter have gotten close to being ready to move on with their relationship and maybe even move on together, that huge black demon looking dog that the vampires are calling a Gwyllgi, is spotted by Eilidh and she runs.

Eilidh doesn't want the demon dog to hurt her new friends so she thinks the only thing she can do to keep them safe is to run and hope that the demon dog follows her trail. But Garrett, Lucius and Dexter are all determined to work together to bring her back, keep her safe and get rid of the demon dog somehow.

I really like how they all worked together to figure out where Eilidh was and what the demon dog was and why it was following her. When it was finally revealed, it was quite the twist and I loved it. The ending for this book was so sweet and I really hope we see more of her family's storyline in subsequent books.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Review: Daily Goodie Box - April

The Daily Goodie Box has been around since about July of 2016. I signed up for an account right after I heard about them. They are 100% free, you don't even have to pay for shipping. And for a free box it's a nice sampler box of products.

What was in the box?

After Bite® - Kids- This is an anti itch cream for kids that works on bug bites. I put it with my first aid kit and the next time someone gets a bug bite well try it out.

Bella Sun Luci - Sriracha Tomato Jerky- This is the second time I've received this and I hope to never see it again. This stuff is seriously nasty. It's just not good. The taste is bad and the chewy/soft texture of the tomato is jut wrong.

Zint Nutrition - Collagen Powder- Another nope for me. This does not taste good. I don't care if it works good or not because if it tastes bad, I'll never use it.

Zollipops - Zolli Caramelz- Best thing in the box this month. They are sugar free and diabetic friendly which is great for me since I have diabetes. They taste good too.

ShiKai - CBD Cream with Menthol- I truly think CBD is just a passing fad because just like other CBD products I've tried, this did nothing. The menthol in it did give me a cooling feeling but the CBD does not take away pain.

Crunchsters - Beyond Bacon- These are good. I put some in salad and really liked them. Are they a substitute for bacon, no. But they have a good taste.

There were also spray vitamins in the box that I didn't like and gave to my daughter to try. The taste just isn't good.

There was a sample bottle of Bourbon maple syrup also but my daughter liked that more than I did.

All they ask you to do is try the products and leave reviews for the products you got in order to be eligible for more Free Goodie Boxes. As you guys already know, I'm a fan of all these types of boxes. I love all the different subscription boxes and it's really nice to be able to try new to me products for free. This is a great box to try for.

Oh and one more thing, if you visit their FB Page, they give away Goodie Boxes to people who interact with their posts. So if you've tried before and weren't able to get a Goodie Box, there's even more ways to get one now.

Have you signed up? Have you received one of these boxes?

I'm a fan of subscription boxes and love trying new products for free so this was a huge hit with me. New products+free box = Fabulous!

Disclosure: I was given and free box in exchange for a review but all opinions are my own.

Apartment Life #247

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 23 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 23 years here in a weekly blog post.
----

I wanted to show you guys a news article about my apartment complex from 2017. It's about raw sewage leaking out all over the common area and the alley where people parked their cars. I am showing this because it happened again. Just like the news story says, it happens over and over several times a year. I'll post a picture of what's happening now down below. But now there's no on site manager and maintenance hasn't plugged the problem.

After this article appeared in the paper a few years ago, the guy that called them was evicted a short time later which is why I'm not calling the paper or health department. Plus the fact that it keeps happening and they refuse to fix the problem. I've lived here 23 years and this happens at least 3 times a year and the health department has been called several times already in that time and it hasn't fixed the problem so I'm just venting about it.

This is what was happening this week. At first it was just a little bit and all that white stuff you see is used toilet paper that's coming up out of that pipe.

Then on Thursday, the water started pouring out and leaking down to the sidewalk that leads to the stairs and people are just walking through it. This pipe is at the end of my building and it's been like this for a couple of weeks.

The funny thing is everyone in my building got a notice the other day that said they wanted everyone to stop flushing paper towels, baby wipes, flushable wipes, feminine care products and plastics down the toilet because they have to keep calling the plumber to clear the pipes. They said if it continues to happen that everyone in this building will be getting charged for the plumbing bills from now on. My husband used to work apartment maintenance for this apartment complex when we first moved in here and he used to tell me all the time that the pipes in this complex were all messed up. Tree roots have broken through the pipes underground and that's what anything that gets flushed down the toilet gets stuck on. That the plumber has to use a special cutting tool on the snakes to cut the tree roots so the toilet paper and whatever else will move smoothly through the pipes. But hey, what the hell do I know. I've only lived here for 23 years.

I noticed when I took Falcor out that raw sewage was pouring out at the end of the building across from me too. There's supposed to be a cap on that hole. There are caps on the holes like this one on other buildings.

Thankfully on Thursday evening the plumber did come out and fix the problem.  I was in the bathroom and the toilet started gurgling. So I put the toilet lid down cause I wasn't sure what the hell was happening. I wasn't sure if some snake or mouse was swimming up the drain in my toilet or what. I wasn't about to sit down though. Don't want to have to explain a snake bite on my rear to an ER doc.

Right as I'm walking out of the bathroom, there's this really loud squealing noise coming from the walls in the bathroom or the pipes, not sure and all of the sudden water starts erupting from inside the toilet onto the floor. The noise disappears, the dog is barking his head off and so I look out front from my bedroom widow and see the plumbers truck is out there. So I went out there and told them what happened and he said the maintenance will be by with a wet/dry vac if I need it. I told him no, I put down paper towels and will mop it up when I go back in. He said the pipes are clear but then he said there was plastic bags, hair extensions, rags and a diaper that had all been flushed down the toilets which had clogged everything up. But at least the outside drains are no longer over flowing with raw sewage. I wonder if everyone is going to get charged for the plumbing bill like they said they would in the last notice they sent out. I spent 20 minutes cleaning up the water that got all over the bathroom floor. But at least the raw sewage has stopped overflowing from the pipes outside.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

This week I received :

Maybelline Lasting Fix setting spray.

I hadn't tried this setting spray before so I was happy to try it and I ended up liking it. It works well to keep your makeup set for the day.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

Recipe: 4 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

I don't know if you guys have seen that Peanut Butter cookie recipe on FB that says you can make then with just 4 ingredients? Well, I wanted to try it and they actually came out good. I was surprised.

Recipe:
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. Vanilla

Blend all ingredients, roll into small balls and press criss cross marks into batter. Batter will not spread so press them down to the thickness you want them.
Bake for 15 minutes at 325 degrees.

I was surprised they came out so good. My grandson loved them.

Do you like peanut butter cookies?

Review: Her Vampire Rebel (Midnight Doms Book 6) by Zara Zenia

Book Description

I'M KEEPING HER.
The sweet psychology student with a troubled past.
Her ex is stalking her, but I won't let him hurt her again.
I'll finish him if he even tries.
Because I love the way she submits.
Her sweet soft yes, sirs. The way she gives herself over to me.
I should let her go--she has her whole life ahead of her.
But I can't. I'm buying her a collar and making her mine.
Mine alone

My Review

Carolyn got out of a bad, abusive relationship with a guy who used BDSM in a way that it shouldn't be used. He was abusive and used that as his way to hurt her. She's been free of him for four years but he keeps tracking her down when she moves to a new place and she's scared he might find her again.

James, a vampire has been trying to stay two steps ahead of one of his old nest-mates who wants him dead for killing their sire. He wants to stay in this city but he has to get the approval of Lucius, the King but he's out of town for a while. So he appeals to those left in charge and settles in, taking in Club Toxic where vampires go to find willing submissives and blood donors.

When Carloyn agrees to go to Club Toxic with her best friend, she not sure about playing in the dungeon but finds a nice Dom and they play a little in the dungeon. It's been years since she felt comfortable enough to play like this because of her ex, but James made her feel comfortable. They hit it off right away and even make plans to see each other again afterwards. James feels possessive of her even after the first time they are together but wants to take things slow for her. So when her abusive ex starts sending her threatening texts and voicemails, he wants to help keep her safe.

When the danger from her ex gets worse, she worries that he might hurt James. But James is a vampire and can take care of himself. But when someone from James past makes himself known, that's when things get really dangerous and James has to make some tough choices.

I loved this book, it had the right amount of danger, romance and BDSM in it to make it really fun. I am having such a good time reading this series.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
