Did You Know...

That artichokes are actually the tough bottom part of a really pretty flower? 

I have loved artichokes since I was a kid because my mom loved them and used to cook them for us all the time. Recently they have been $3 and $4 a piece in the grocery store but I still get them every once in a while. I boil them and chew on the green leaves and then eat the center dipped in butter.

Have you ever eaten an artichoke?

  1. Yes, artichokes are delicious! I like to pull the outer leaves between my clenched teeth to remove all the soft flesh. The inner leaves and the heart just melt in my mouth! I prefer a dip with vinegar or lemon juice to give it a tang.

  4. Mmmm love artichokes! I have some dip with them in the fridge right now! Yum! I don't think I've ever seen them flower but have seen them growing in real life. Would love to be able to grow them here.
