Product Review: UberChef® Potato Ricer Set with 3 Ricing Discs (Fine, Medium, Coarse)

Product Description

Like all UberChef products, our Potato Masher Set has been developed with professional chefs in mind. They require the best-performing tools available, and so do we.

Few have the time to create authentic mashed potatoes that have a restaurant-like quality and smooth consistency. Even fewer have the time to mash and strain foods like carrots or sweet potatoes and other vegetables, or apples, bananas, and other fruits while preparing baby food.

That ends now with our premium, stainless steel Potato Masher. Upgrade your kitchen and take your cuisine to the next level with:
● Three ricing discs: Fine, Medium, Coarse
● Heavy duty stainless steel and dishwasher safe design
● Ergonomic comfort grip designed to prevent hand soreness
● Convenient pot/bowl rest prevents slippage when resting on edge of bowl
All UberChef products are backed by an international 100% lifetime guarantee

My Review

It's easy to switch between the three different discs, just take one out and pop another back in. The problem I had with this ricer is when I put a potato into the well and pressed down, the potato got all smashed and stuck to the disc instead of coming out of the holes and I used the one with the largest holes. I boiled the potatoes so that they were fork tender like I always do and have always been able to use my hand masher but this just didn't work for me at all.

I even tried boiling the potatoes a little longer and they got water logged and still didn't go through the holes. Instead the potatoes started coming up through the top because the potatoes get stuck in the disc and won't go through the holes and everything backs up from there.

I thought maybe I wasn't applying enough pressure to the handle so I had my husband try and the same thing happened to him. I cannot recommend this product after the experience I had with it.

I give this product 2 out of 5 stars.

I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review.

    1. Maybe the discs need to be sturdier or something.

  3. I always use a hand masher when mashing potatoes. I didn't even realize they had other devices for them. Too bad this one didn't work like it should've been. Even with all the different things you tried and it still didn't work. Makes you wonder if and how the tested this.
