I'm Not On FB Right Now

I was on Facebook yesterday and all of the sudden this page pops up and I'm locked out of my account. So I went searching on Google to see if this was legit and it indeed is. Only problem is some people think the 'virus detected' bit is a lie so that you'll download their anti-malware software. I ran Malwarebytes and no malicious malware or viruses were detected on my laptop. I can't even log into Ken's fb account and post a message for my friends on my account because I have the settings on my account so tight. I have it set that only I can see posts that get posted to my wall, so no one else would see it if I did post something from Ken's account. LOL

I logged into my husband's account and it didn't stop me. So did it really detect malicious whatever on my device? I seriously doubt it. I contacted FB but I don't expect they'll remove the freeze on my account and I deleted cookies like some other forums said to do but that didn't fix the problem either. Some other people in forums and on Twitter said to wait it out and sometimes the error message will disappear on its own. But it can take 3, 5, or even 30 days for that to happen. I don't want to download their anti-malware software but I might not have a choice if I want to get back into my account.

So if we're friends on fb and you don't see me on there for a while...this is why.

Have any of you ever had this happen? What did you do?

UPDATE!! I'm back on! It took almost 4 days but I tried logging on just now and the page I took a screen shot of is gone!

So all those people who told me to wait it out were right! Don't download their crap!

Another Update! I tried posting something but fb said I'm blocked from making any posts for another 14 hours. I guess the malware they detected will magically disappear in 14 hours.

  1. I was wondering what happened and glad you posted this. I would have been thinking something happened to you, or that you were sick. I've never heard of this, and it's super strange. A company as big as Facebook needs to be ready to respond to things like this and get it resolved so people aren't waiting forever. So sorry this has happened, Mary!

    1. Thanks. It's really annoying. I seriously doubt FB will respond, it's already been 3 days and nothing.

  2. Good to know Mary. I hope this never happens on google docs. I've got my whole novel written on there. Have you heard that Amazon is trying to take Facebook's thunder and do some social networking of there own? They may even become more popular than Facebook if they succeed.

    1. I wouldn't go to an Amazon site though. I didn't renew my Prime subscription and stopped using them to shop after they deleted over 300 of my product and book reviews from their site with no real explanation.

  3. I wouldn't down load their software either since that is exactly what they are trying to force you to do. Make FB fix it.

    1. I agree. I have emailed them but no response yet and everyone I've talked to that this has happened to says they got no response from fb either.

  4. All to get you to download their crap. Did you try clearing the internet history? Sometimes that works.

    1. I did clear the internet history, cookies, passwords, ran malwarebytes, and restarted my laptop. Nothing. I even tried going on fb with a different browser and that didn't work either.

  6. That does sound shady, but good to know it's legit. But that's still seems fishy they want you to download something. I never heard of this before. Let's hope they remove that message soon.

  8. What browser do you use? Not sure if it makes a difference but it's a thought. I just read that it might because of Chrome.

    1. I use Chrome but also tried using internet explorer and it wouldn't let me on with that either.

  12. I was sure I'd commented. I don't do Facebook because they are (obviously) rip-off merchants who don't care about their customers.

  14. That sucks, Mary. As in a ton. As for the malicious whatever on your device.... I seriously doubt it, too. It's a FB scam, is what that is. Good thing we are blogger friends, not FB friends. Just saying we have made ourselves too dependent on big malicious companies.

    Am I right?

  15. That stinks! I swear that Facebook doesn't know what it's doing half the time as they're locking people out of their accounts left and right. Hope you're able to log back in soon!

  17. What a pain in the ass. I'm only on fb on my phone. I should give you my email and phone number if this happens to me we can keep in touch "the old fashioned way" 😉 I hope the idiots at fb fix it soon.

    1. I'm really hoping that what everyone told me is correct and after a few days fb will just let me back in, but they said that it'll probably keep happening every 6 months or so too. My email is miztik_rose@yahoo.com

  18. New to me, but I think you were wise to not just download the malware security. Thanks for letting us know why you're not on.
