Review: BirchBox- August

I decided to sign up for a Birchbox subscription box. It's only $10 a month and this month's box came with 5 products.

In this box was...

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel for eyebrows

GlamGlow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment for your face

Marcelle City Multi-Protection Tinted Cream with SPF 25

Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect Leave in Conditioner

Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo

All of these products are new to me so I was exited to start trying them out. I don't usually do much with my eyebrows (shocking, I know) and I've never plucked them (gasp!) so the fiber gel for eyebrows isn't something that I would normally buy but I did use a little of it and it looked fine. It wasn't too thick or weird looking, it just made my eyebrows look a little darker.

I used a little of the tinted cream and well as the hydrating treatment for your face and both are nice smelling products. The tinted cream really didn't have much of a tint to it but I appreciate the SPF 25 and the hydrating treatment left my face feeling soft.

I love leave in conditioners since my hair is long, it's nice to find different things to try to keep the tangles at bay.

The dry shampoo is another that left a fine white powder residue in my hair. I have dark brown hair so I really don't want to look like I've played in the flour or put baby powder in my hair so I didn't care for that.

This is my second BirchBox and over all I liked most of the products.

Does this sound like a subscription box you would sign up for?

    1. I've now got 3 bottles of dry shampoo. If I had blonde hair it wouldn't show the powder residue as much. lol

  3. It's great that you're getting these boxes so we can find out about a lot of new products. Love it! Sorry about the dry shampoo fiasco. I'm with Bijoux - why keep putting them in there, and then they don't work well either? (lol) Hugs...

  6. My oldest has really thick, dark almost black hair and she uses a dry shampoo at least once a week. I wonder what her trick is? My hair is blonde/grey and fine so I only need to shampoo every other day or on the third day.

  7. I tried dry shampoo one time after surgery and it was horrible...never again. It sounds like you did pretty good with the box overall.

  11. Sounds like an interesting box of stuff this time around. I think it's great that they were all items you'd never used before. It's a great way to find either items you like, or ones that don't work for you.

  12. I’m a member of Birch Box, sadly I don’t like it, I don’t wear makeup and I have to use specialized products in my hair. Every now and them I get some great products and I’m a super star amongst my friends because i give most of my goodies away. I do like that dry shampoo though

  13. I liked Birchbox when I got them way back in the day. I recently signed up for BoxyCharm ($21/month?) and LOVE IT!!! You should try that one next if you can, from what I've seen in my last 2 boxes they send full size products from brands I know for the most part.

  14. I've heard mostly positive things about Birchbox but haven't taken the plunge yet. I think I may get my daughter a subscription for her birthday since she loves all things beauty related. I have dark hair and find that dry shampoos don't work for me either.

  15. I do blue apron every other month. I've heard it but as I got older make up isn't a big thing anymore.
I recall I wouldn't be caught dead with out my hair done and make up on...Coffee is on

  16. I'm probably not a good candidate for a subscription service as I get attached to specific products (allergies make me hesitate over new stuff), but I do like seeing what you think of the products. The tinting and hydrating products sound nice.

    1. Yeah that would make it hard to like everything in these boxes.
