Favorite Picture of the Week
My brother and his wife bought a house in Northern Nevada and when they started hiking around their property my brother spotted a few interesting rocks and brought them to me because he knows how much I like this kind of thing. Top left is Mica, top right is quartz, bottom left I'm not really sure what that blue stone is yet (if you do, let me know) and bottom right is quartz.
And then my brother gave me this big rock with a bunch of quartz in it. It's hard to get a good picture to show you just how many quartz crystals are in this but it's a bunch.
There are a couple of big quartz crystals and many smaller ones. I added them to my collection of interesting rocks.

Pretty neat finds
ReplyDeleteThanks, I thought so too.
DeleteOh neat! Love staring down at the ground when I'm out in that region of the country b/c there really are some cool rocks. The blue is pretty, but I have no idea, either.
ReplyDeleteMe too. It's fun to find interesting looking rocks.
DeleteSure found some interesting ones indeed
ReplyDeleteI thought so too.
DeleteIs the blue rock turquoise? I'm not sure. I've only seen it polished, so I could be wrong. Very pretty.

I'm not sure. There are so many blue rocks out there.
DeleteI would be so excited to find rocks like that! I'm wondering if the turquoise one had a chemical reaction happen that made it turn that color? Very neat pics!
ReplyDeleteNot sure. I'll have to ask my brother and see if he remembers what he was told it was.
Deleteoh that's nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThere's an artist on booklikes who makes beautiful jeweler out of these. I am amazed at what she can do with what looks to me like a rock :) Those are gorgeous finds.
ReplyDeleteThat always amazes me when I see people make jewelry out of polished rocks.
DeleteI grew up out that way, and perhaps I take that kind of natural beauty for granted, but it was so common. Come to think of it, I haven't seen anything like it on the east coast. Interesting. It makes you reexamine your personal bias, eh?
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool to be able to find things like this while out walking around.
DeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteNevada is a great state for a rockhound. Where in Northern Nevada is your brother-I love that part of the state.
ReplyDeleteHe moved up by Stagecoach.
DeleteThese are beautiful and I love that they're still natural instead of rounded and polished up. Is the blue maybe oxidised zinc?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what it is but it's pretty. lol I like the natural stones as well as the polished ones.
DeleteToo cool!!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
