Apartment Life #35

This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.

So last year I was out taking Falcor for a walk and spotted this car. Most of the windows were smashed, the tires were flat and at one point someone had thrown a grocery cart right through the windshield but I didn't get a picture of that.

So I called the non-emergency police number and reported a suspected stolen car that had been dumped. There was glass all over the ground around this car.

The police came and put that yellow sticker on it. My daughter took this picture from her car when she came over the next day.

My daughter took this picture of the windshield too. The car stayed there for 3 days before it was finally towed away and the police were there checking the inside before the tow truck took it away.

This is the first time I've seen a dumped car on my block. I've seen a few cars with smashed windows because someone stole something out of the car but this was a first and I was a little surprised it took 3 days for it to get towed away after I called to report it.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  2. sometimes it's long here too to take the abandon car mainly if they are not blocking the road

  3. If the car was stolen, I imagine the owners will be thrilled to have it back, even though it's going to take some work to get repaired. So sad to see things like this. Hugs..RO

  4. Great writing idea! Those living in appartments go through daily unpleasant or weird happenings that are not familiar to people in private houses.

I didn't know police has a non-emergency number. Here, there's just one number for calling the police (100).

  6. I can't believe that it took 3 days for the police to come and get that car! That is terrible how beat up it is.

  7. I feel clueless, but why do people steal cars and then do all that damage? Just for kicks? Around here, the cars are stripped of everything, including tires and the untraceable parts are resold. Then the carcass is just left somewhere random.

    1. I just can't imagine but I'm guessing it's for kicks and because they can.

  8. Wow that's sure sounds strange to see a car in that state and then that it takes them 3 days to tow it away. At least they did take it away.

  11. Surprised the owners didn't come get it once they were notified.
I guess the gangs are getting a little closer to your area. Or druggies. Neither are what you want.

    1. It's mostly the druggies. They seem to be all over around here.

  12. We had a boat left outside our place for a couple of weeks last summer. It was on a trailer and not abandoned, but took up a good three parking spaces which made parking tight for everyone else. The owner doesn't even live on this road, he just wanted somewhere 'convenient' while he sold it!
