Favorite Picture of the Week
So I've showed you this sound wall. It was put there because the freeway is right on the other side of that wall and it's supposed to cut down on some of the noise of the freeway.
My apartment complex is straight ahead and I walk the dog right here on this sidewalk next to the sound wall. It's a really tall wall but what I've never showed you is the other side of the wall.
Someone took this picture when a truck overheated and the engine caught fire, everyone got out of the tuck fine though. But in this picture you can see the other side of the sound wall and how it's painted. Like I said, the freeway is directly on the other side of the wall.

You would think they could spring for the paint to paint both sides of the wall. Which I hope DOES reduce the noise.
ReplyDeleteIt's still quite noisy but I think it does reduce some of the noise.
DeleteNot putting much effort into making the wall a bit nicer to look at! I just hope it works to keep the noise down. It's probably a good thing it was there to stop that flaming vehicle though...
ReplyDeleteThere have been a lot of accidents on that side so it's probably a good thing it's there.
DeleteAt least they got it halfway painted. Good no one got hurt in the truck.
ReplyDeleteYeah the other side doesn't look bad but my side is so plain.
DeleteIt would be so cool to see a painted mural here, and my goodness, I sure hope it does keep out the noise. Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteI think it does keep the noise down a little.
DeleteInteresting design choice for the painted side. Glad the truck's passengers got out safe.
ReplyDeleteYeah it's a strange choice for a design.
DeleteThe sound walls here look like cement and they have carved emblems that represent the city that it's in.
ReplyDeleteI wish there were some sort of design on my side too.
DeleteOh wow, looks like they need some engine coolant.
ReplyDeleteProbably.
DeleteI'm surprised your side of the wall isn't covered with graffiti. Some of the characters you've described in the "apartment hell" posts sound like they wouldn't be averse to a little vandalism.
ReplyDeleteThere has been vandalism but the city comes through and paints over it.
Deleteah yes that's really close
ReplyDeleteYeah it really is.
DeleteThat's wild. I like it! The paint job not the car fire!
ReplyDeleteYeah it's an interesting pain job.
DeleteAt first I thought that it was a mural until I read your post. Glad no one was hurt in the fire. They ought to consider painting it but probably don't wish to spend money.
ReplyDeleteI wish they would paint something on my side of the wall but it won't happen.
DeleteYikes, burning car!
ReplyDeleteYeah but they got out.
DeleteGeez... feel bad for that person in the truck! Does the sound wall actually help?
ReplyDeleteNot much. It's still really loud.
DeleteThat fire looks scary! I like that they have added some design to the actual wall. Around here these sound walls are all plain.
ReplyDeleteI wish they would do something with the other side of the wall too but it won't happen.
DeleteHope know on was hurt.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Everyone got out and was fine.
DeleteGlad they got out of the truck safely! I'd say it's a good thing the wall is there. I'm sure it's kept the neighborhood a bit safer as well as the noise levels down.
ReplyDeleteOh it definitely keeps the cars from flying into my apartment building.
DeleteI like how they've tried to make the big barrier wall more interesting... But weird that so much traffic is just on the other side when you're out and about walking the dog!
ReplyDeleteI find it really weird too. I can see the other side of the wall from the break in the wall where it stops and starts again and I can see all the trucks going by.
DeleteVehicles catching fire like that is really scary.
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteI kind of like that design painted on the wall.
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteIt's a shame the footpath side of the wall isn't painted too
ReplyDeleteYeah it would nice to have something to look at other than rocks.
