Apartment Life #244
This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 22 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 23 years here in a weekly blog post.
---
The police were in my courtyard at 10pm on Monday but I didn't get a picture of it. They had their flashlights out and were going up to a few apartments that had their doors open and were asking if we heard anyone fighting or yelling. I had my door open all day and didn't her any yelling. After a few minutes they left.
---
On Tuesday Night the electricity got knocked out when one of the transformers blew. I knew exactly what it was because when it blows, there's a loud bang right before the power was knocked out. The power was out for 3 hours. In those 3 hours the police were all over my street. I heard sirens all over the neighborhood. When the lights go out, people just start acting stupid. I stayed inside except to take the dog out once and saw police in front of my apartment building. I didn't her any fighting but there were a lot of people outside because the lights were off inside. lol
---
On Wednesday the police were back in front of my apartment complex. They were in the next courtyard over this time but I don't know what for.
----
On Friday I watched the motorcycle police pull a guy over who was riding his motorized bike on the sidewalk. He got a ticket. The police have been patrolling my area really heavily. Pretty much at least once a day I see the police driving on my street.
---
On Wednesday I'm out with Falcor and a big ass dog runs up on me and Falcor. This is the 4th time these people's dogs have been out off leash and run up on me and Falcor. The dog was jumping on me and barking while I was holding Falcor in my arms. I went and told the woman that the next time it happens I'll be calling animal control. This is the second time I've talked to her and she takes no responsibility for the dogs getting out. She keeps saying that they just "get out" like it's not her or his fault or something. If you have a big pit bull or any big dog, you have a responsibility to keep control of them. If you can't then you are too effing stupid to have a dog. Next time I'll be emailing the apartment manager and letting her know just how many flippin animals there are in that apartment. I don't give a damn anymore. I was so mad when I confronted her. This dumb woman just walked away and tried to ignore me because she didn't like what I was saying. Good grief the stupid is strong with this one. So all my friends on FB were telling me to get pepper spray so I did.
I bought a stun gun and pepper spray duo. If either dog tries to attack me or Falcor at least I can defend us. Because I have a feeling that neither of the people that live there are going to do a damn thing about their dogs getting out off leash and charging me and jumping on me trying to get to Falcor. I already had to hit the one dog in the face just to make it get off me. There's a leash law in this state so it's illegal for them to let their dogs out without a leash.
UPDATE: As of today (Sunday) They have rehomed one dog and have been walking the other big dog on a leash. So hopefully it stays that way.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Call animal control. And email the apartment manager. Before some dreadful happens.
ReplyDeleteYou and Falcor are protected but I am sure that others are not.
DeleteThey actually rehomed one of the dogs and have been walking the other dog on leash so maybe what I said helped.
DeleteYes, you should definitely call animal control , people are so irresposible! What if a small child would go on the street? That is so dangerous... Have a good and safe week!
ReplyDeleteThey actually rehomed one of the dogs and have been walking the other dog on leash so maybe what I said helped.
DeleteNot the animal's fault, just his dumb owner. Call animal control.
ReplyDeleteOh I know it's not the animal fault. They actually rehomed one of the dogs and have been walking the other dog on leash so maybe what I said helped.
DeleteHappy Spring Dear friend! I am not sure whether pepper spray works or not when the dog assault happens. You should deffinetely call the animal control.
ReplyDeleteYes, pepper spray or the taser will work.
DeleteMy goodness, there's a lot going on! I agree, we all love our pets, but when out walking around the public, being on a leash is important for sure. Thank goodness you got some protection. Stay safe! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThey actually rehomed one of the dogs and have been walking the other dog on leash so maybe what I said helped.
DeleteThat's definitely not safe. I'm glad you got the pepper spray. Probably a good idea to have it anyway with all the excitement in your neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably true.
DeleteThat's not safe! What if the dogs were to bite you?! Yeah something needs to be done ASASP!
ReplyDeleteThey actually rehomed one of the dogs and have been walking the other dog on leash so maybe what I said helped.
DeleteGood for you getting the pepper spray and stun gun, use them and always have them with you when you go out. Oh, those people outside acting stupid, they probably weren't acting at all.
ReplyDeleteI will always keep them with me now.
DeleteI get so mad about loose dogs. The protection devices are a good idea!
ReplyDeleteI thought so too. Just in case.
DeletewOW, I never seen someone use a stun gun, hopefully you won't have to.
ReplyDeleteI used to have one but Ken's friend broke it.
DeletePeople who can't control their dogs are really annoying. Dogs sometimes leap up at me and the owners just apologise and shrug their shoulders as if it was an act of God they have no control over. Good for you getting the pepper spray and stun gun. It's merely self-defence.
ReplyDeleteSome people just shouldn't have a dog.
DeleteGlad to hear the police are patrolling regularly since there seems to be a lot of activity near your apartment. I hate when people don't take care of their pets! Be safe!
ReplyDeleteSome people shouldn't have animals at all.
DeleteDefinitely call animal control. I don't have much hope for the manager but maybe you have a good one now. Stay safe and Falcor too.
ReplyDeleteI definitely will if it keeps happening.
DeleteYou have a lot going on in your neighborhood. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there's always a lot.
DeleteI think I'm glad the police are around your area a lot- with the stories you have for us it's probably a good thing. And the power going out- yeah I'd be nervous if you already have some crazies around , which it seems like you do!
ReplyDeleteThe dog thing is ridiculous. I agree with some of the other commenters- I'd call animal control too, those dogs will hurt someone thanks to their dumb owners
They rehomed one dog. They have been walking the other dog on a leash so far so I hope it stays that way.
DeleteOmg that place
ReplyDeleteI know. This week was worse than most.
DeleteI feel bad for the dogs that have owners without brains. I carry pepper spray with me when I go walking or running, but I'm usually more worried about people than animals, yet it would work for either. I once had three big dogs rush me and my daughter-in-law in a rural neighborhood while we were walking her dogs (a border collie and a little mutt dog) I was terrified and had the little dog in my arms as I jumped around and kicked out my legs at them. All the time screaming at them to get back! Thankfully, my son rode up on his dirt bike and chased them away and we were able to get away. We were able to fend them off and they didn't bite us, but I was so pissed! I didn't have my pepper spray on me, of course. I would've pepper sprayed them (and felt bad for them later) but I would've rather sprayed their dumb ass owners! So yeah, I get how pissed you were. Hopefully, they owners get a freaking clue!
ReplyDeleteOh man I totally get how mad you were. I wouldn't want to pepper spray an animal if I don't have to but if another dog attacks me or my little dog I'd rather have it just in case. I would much rather pepper spray the owner though.
DeleteNever a dull moment at your complex! At least you have a very active Police presence, which must help some? We used to deal with that a lot when living in our Historic Neighborhood, but the Mini Farm area here has low crime even tho' it's surrounded by the City. In our Old Age I just didn't want to deal with the Criminal Element, even tho' they make up a small percentage of the population of any area, they are 100% of the problems.
ReplyDeleteI think having the police around here t times does help.
DeleteI hate it when people don't keep their dogs on a leash. We walk our dogs daily, sometimes several times a day, and there re a few people that will have their dogs off the leash in their front yard with them. They always charge us and the owner acts surprised. It is hard to hold multiple dogs on leashes while another is in the mix.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I see so many people walking their dogs off leash here. There are two people in my courtyard that never have their dogs on leash but they are little dogs so I'm not worried about them attacking me or Falcor.
DeleteGood for you, standing up to mindless idiots who can't take care of their animals. I hope they've learned a lesson.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so.
Delete"The police have been patrolling my area really heavily. Pretty much at least once a day I see the police driving on my street."
ReplyDeleteThat's a good thing at least...
The dog issue is pretty terrifying! I hope you find a way to keep the beast at bay (or to put some sense into their owner's head...).
The police being around here all the time might be helping.
DeleteI hope they keep the dogs on a leash now.
I'm happy you bought a defense kit. 🙌
ReplyDeleteI should have had one living where I do to begin with. But I'm glad I have it too.
