Flowers On My Walk

Each week I tell you guys all the craziness around here, so today I thought I would being a little bit of beauty from my walk with Falcor. This bush has tiny purple flowers all over it. I don't know what the shrub is but it's so pretty.

Here's a closer look at the tiny purple flowers.

My apartment complex is also home to two varieties of Oleander bushes. This is a small bush and only has a couple of pink flowers. I should mention that the entire plant is poisonous. If you eat it, it could kill you.

Here's the white Oleander flowers. Very pretty but don't try eating it.

I also came across a few of these tiny yellow wild flowers. They were hard to get a good picture of because they are tiny, about half the size of my pinkie nail.

There aren't a lot of flowers around here but there were a few.

  1. The bush with the purple flowers is lovely, but I can't identify it because I don't have anything similar in my garden.

  3. Love that purple bush.
Someone that one of my brother's used to work with found out (when the police knocked on his door) that his wife had been slowly poisoning him with oleander tea. His doctor had got suspicious and had samples of his urine analysed. She was convicted of attempted murder too.

  4. Hi, Mary!

Thanks for taking me along on your walk around the neighborhood. I admire the bursts of purple, red, white and green. I suppose we could call the pretty but poisonous Oleander a femme fatale of the plant kingdom.

Have a safe and happy weekend, new friend Mary!

  5. Those are nice flowers. Isn't it a bit dangerous having poisonous plants around an apartment building? There might be kids living there, and you know how small children will put just about anything in their mouths.

    1. You would think so. The new owners might not know what they are.

  9. I don’t think Oleander can grow here, but it would be a pretty bush that the deer wouldn’t eat I’m guessing.

  10. I have oleander growing here, but the killer freeze we had in February almost did it in. Your flowers are stunning. More, more, more of the beauty of where you live, please.

  13. Love seeing all the wild and domestic flower bushes in bloom, Mary. Sometimes wild lavender can take that round bush look with small purple, pink or bluish-purple when in bloom, but I think the flowers are different shape so probably not quite that.

  18. I had Oleander in my yard in Georgia. Like the smell and the fact it was never eaten by the deer (I think it was also poisonous to them).
