Laptops, Bookmarks and Blogs
So last Monday my laptop decided to stop working. I tried everything and it won't even restart now, I just get a blue screen. My daughter had an old laptop that my grandson stepped on a few years ago and so it now has a black spot on the screen but at least it works for now. My daughter said she's going to buy me a new laptop when she gets her taxes back. What a sweet kid she is.
So I've been working on getting some of my bookmarks back like all of the blogs I visit. So I went through all of the comments for the past month and bookmarked all the blogs that left a comment in the past month. I think I have everyone bookmarked again but if I haven't commented on your blog in the past week let me know in the comments so I can visit and bookmark you.

Ugh. I remember you talking about it on Twitter. What a ordeal. I know you have lots of blogs you visit. As for me, I use the good old Google Friend Connect, also for blogs that aren't on Blogger, since you can add urls to it from wherever.
ReplyDeleteYou commented on mine a few days ago, anyhow I'm here 👋.
I think I have everyone bookmarked again. I just went through all my comments from the dashboard of my blog and did it that way.
DeleteA big and sympathetic sigh on the 'puter front. And hooray for having such a supportive daughter.
ReplyDeleteShe's a sweetheart.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry to learn about your laptop woes, dear friend. Your daughter is a sweetie and showing lots of holiday spirit by pledging to use her tax rebate to buy you a new one. At least you can continue to limp along and do your thing using the old one until then. Technology keeps leaping forward, and you should notice a big difference when you start using the new laptop.
Yessum, I hope you will bookmark Shady's Place Music & Memories, because you and I have so much in common. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Mary!
Oh yes, I definitely have you bookmarked.
DeleteThe dreaded blue screen. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteAnd it happened so fast. No warning or anything.
DeleteI’m glad you have a laptop to use for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI am too.
DeleteUgh, that's a bummer in a big way.
ReplyDeleteI know. I had it happened one other time so I was careful about printing out all my pictures so I didn't lose any.
DeleteI'm so sorry that you had issues with your laptop. I can't imagine if I lost all of my bookmarks. Good luck on getting everything back up and running. You have a great kid there too.
ReplyDeleteMelanie @ Books of My Heart
I'm just glad I didn't lose my pictures. I routinely print them out.
DeleteMine is four years old and needs replacing and I still and behind with some of my blogs
ReplyDeleteI had mine for many years and it just gave up the ghost.
DeleteSo sorry your Laptop took a crap, good thing you had some backup, albeit damaged some. I knew when my Computer was Dying I started panicking some, sticker shock at the cost of replacement was going to be a financial hardship. But, I drained some Savings and bought this top o-the-line one and so glad I Invested in it... they've come a long way in the 35 Years since I'd replaced one. *LOL*
ReplyDeleteOh you took a long time to get a new one. lol
DeleteOh, no...the blue screen of death! That's never good. I'm so sorry. I need to replace my laptop this year, too. Ugh. I wish everything wasn't so expensive. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I hear ya there. But at least I have one I can use in the mean time.
DeleteOh that sucks but have fun when you get your new one (and that's cool of her to do that).
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSo sorry about your laptop, but so lovely of your daughter to make that offer about a replacement.
ReplyDeleteTake Care, and my good wishes for Christmas.
All the best Jan
I thought so too, she's such a sweet woman.
DeleteYikes, that's a big pain but we're glad you figured out a workaround!!!
ReplyDeleteI am too.
DeleteMy power cord is really bad, and I know it's just a matter of time until I will need to get a new computer. I am so sorry that you are having to get a new one. Thank goodness for your daughter.
ReplyDeleteYeah, technology is a must have but such a pain at times.
DeleteI would be lost with out my lap top. I couldn't imagine covid without it.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I feel the same way.
DeleteCan't you take your laptop to a computer guy to fix it?
ReplyDeleteI asked my computer fix it guy on Twitter and he said it would cost $200 to fix it. But a new laptop is only $300 so I'll just get a new one.
DeleteYour daughter is very sweet!
ReplyDeleteYes, she really is.
DeleteAww sweet of her :D
ReplyDeleteIt is.
Deletewhat a wonderful daughter. i just got a new laptop myself. that is the digital age. i bought a canon camera early in the digital switch over and it went down right after the warranty and they told me they don't work on thet model any more. it is a throw away society and the mountains of garbage is going to take over the world.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Oh dang, that really sucks. I might have to upgrade my camera as well.
DeleteI got the dreaded blue screen a few years ago and had to get a new computer. It's a pain but at least your daughter is helping you out. Have a wonderful Christmas, Mary.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pain but I'm glad for my daughter.
DeleteUgh to the blue screen of death! Nothing ruins a day faster than getting that!
ReplyDeleteI know. There was no warning or anything.
